Here’s what I have for last week’s tally. Sorry it took so long.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
Just a dude.

Thanks Holly!
Well a couple of weeks ago I started doing some PT exercises to get rid of my chronic achilles tendonitis and it ended up making it much more severe. (long story, but I am a bit annoyed because I knew the calf raises were a risk but I went with it) I woke up in the middle of the night in agony even after icing twice yesterday. GAH!
Taking today and tomorrow off and getting hopefully some u/s or astym tomorrow.
MTA: so far I am at zero for the week
Holly u/s is ultrasound ASTYM is a tissue scraping technique. Its supposed to break up scar tissue and promote healing. Hurts like hell, I've had good luck with it though.

Bummer! What is u/s or astym?
I've been nursing a sore foot for a couple weeks, I think stemming from kicking soccer balls at DD's practice a while back (note to self, do not kick soccer balls while in marathon training), and I was beginning to worry it might be a SF because my whole foot has been aching. Happily, last week's diminished running while on vacation seems to have mostly cleared it up. Hope your achilles clears up as well.
Thanks Holly and sounds like you had a great vacation. Good news on the foot.
Sorry about the achilles pain Ennay and that PT may have made it worse.

Thanks mucho Holly, hope you enjoyed your vacation.
Recovery week still, so slow and easy miles. Adding a few more of those miles.
Mon: rest - nice deep tissue massage.. ahhh it hurts sooo good.
Tues: 9 miles - 10.0 miles including 2 miles @ MP, mostly aerobic paced.
Wed: 12 miles - 12.0 miles all slow and fairly easy.
Thurs: 5-7 miles - 10.0 miles, legs felt very good, so... 5 miles @ MP. slow and easy tomorrow.
So much for the recovery week, legs don't seem to need it. Guess I didn't beat myself up to much.
Fri: 9 miles - 7.0 miles at recovery pace.
Sat: 10 miles - 10.2 miles along a hilly route. good run, maybe just a tad to hard on the ups and downs.
Sun: 16 miles - AM: 6.0 miles, didn't sleep well, legs and body just drained. will try a double today.
PM: 10.0 miles, little better this evening but kept it at a recovery pace.
Total: 66.2 miles

This past month has been a blur, first the transmission my father in law's truck died, then while he was using my truck, the clutch went out in mine. That's why the call 'em work trucks, it takes work to keep 'em running. Spent more hours on truck repairs than running lately. At least his is fixed now so he can get back to work. I'll do the clutch in mine, someday.

Cutback week last week, so it's back to the mileage building and tempo running.

Thanks Holly -- I feel like a broken record but I am suffering in this heat ... plus a lingering cold ... having a good ole' fashioned pity party for myself!
Anyway -- my week as follows:
m - 11.25m [5.5 @ MP]
t - 5.5m easy
w - 10.3m [@ +20 sec MP w/ 6 x 30 sec strides - best that I have felt in a while]
Th - off
Fr - 19.05m [16m progress / 7 x 30 sec strides / 1.25m c/d] -- feel good!
Sat - 5.5m [easy]
Sun - Bronx 1/2 -- but I don't know if I can do it or not ... otherwise +/- 6
Total = 55 - 60m
2012= under-goaled
Bloat, Holly? It'll be gone in two runs, I'd wager.
Looking to get back on the horse now that the illness is behind me.

Holly,
The heat has gotten to high and with the humidity I am not able to run safely here in the Kansas City area. We are to get a break this weekend. I will run more then. I did run 2.15 miles on Sunday for what it was wor

It was so hot here in the Kansas City area, that I could not run with my heart condition. It looks much better with the up coming week. I only ran about 30 miles this past week.

43 miles. Included a 10 miler. 32nd week out of 33 that I made it to 40.
I'll be leaving for Tennessee later this week all the way through next week. Plan on hiking about 75 miles in the Smokies, but no running. So I'll be back posting the first week of September.
