Transitioning to "speed wednesdays" by doing 3k of 1k cutdowns today. 3k in the middle of my run was planned 4:30-4:15-4:00 1k's. The actual wasn't as precise but about 12:50 cumulative, so it was close. I'm curious to see how my achilles feels tomorrow.

Hello frens! I just scanned the last couple of dailies. Not much time here. Been in Seattle since Monday evening, taking dad to medical appointments. Got a run in yesterday afternoon in the (twocat, don't look...) light rain, 2.25 miles total. Then today the sun came out and we got a rare last minute appointment for dad tomorrow morning at the foot and ankle specialist, so got in another 2.2 miles today. That's the first back-to-back run I've done in almost 9 weeks and yeah, it probably wasn't a great idea. My lower leg was a little sore at the end, and noticeably a little swollen when I got back to the room. Drat. Iced it a bit and hoping it'll be ok after a rest day tomorrow.

Almost $1,000 for a race that's not a triathlon? Holy cow, no thanks.

Hope all you dealing with heavy snow are done with it soon, at least it'll melt pretty quickly. We spent a good part of last Sunday shoveling snow off our deck (again) and chipping out 18" of hardpack (again) in the driveway. Can't wait for it to all be gone, but if we don't clear it out a bit now it'll make the driveway impassable very soon.

I have nothing but baby wrangling miles!   Wait. I also have driving miles.

I have been AWOL for so long that I will never catch up.  Unless you help me.

I have limited myself to 5 questions:

          1. Please tell me what happened to Starr.

          2. What's the story with Anzlo's name?

          3. What's going on with Erika?

          4. Why does my house smell like Brussels sprouts?

          5. Am I the only one who completely deactivated my FB account?

Last evening I met Liz in Old Town for a dinner!  She mentioned non-stop talking... Hey!  I let you get a few words in... I mean, you were able to order your delightful sandwich....But seriously.  We last saw each other in December, 2015. And yet, we picked up as if we hadn't skipped a beat.

After our lovely meal, I believe Liz and I should be in charge of the world.

(Don't ask her about my driving) heh heh

          Marathon Maniac #957

Well, RCG, I will take the first two:

            1.  Starr fell on the ice and broke her wrist, had to get plates and screws in it.  She is being very brave about it, but it looks quite painful.

2..  Many of us with poor eyesight and small font had been misspelling Anzlo's name as "Anzio."  Then, during the discussion about it, we found that we were often also spelling it as "Anslo" or "Ansio."  It was a lively topic for a couple of days and Anzlo was a very good sport about it.

Yes!  I made it to the YMCA after work for the "Burn and Tone" class.  I did at least 400 ab exercises in between the circuit exercises.  I expect I will feel this in the morning.  It's about time I dragged my lazy behind down there.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

            Falconfixer

Hey y'all, beat the bed magnet (mostly) and got in 6.3 chilly miles before work.  After work I got in another 5.1 miles (chilly AND windy).  Then went and taught spin.  On a different note, I signed up for a marathon tonight.  It's Sunday, so I won't have time to obsess on it too long.  Really not ready for one....but that's never stopped me in the past!  It's the second shortest sign up time--won't top the shortest, signed up the day of for the inaugural marathon in the Shoals area of Alabama.  A friend is the RD and there were only about 50 runners.  Doing a bit better now, it's a labor of love for him.  Race is the Tobacco Road Marathon in Cary, NC.  Most of it is on a rails to trails path, so it should be fairly flat.

KY John, welcome!  I saw your post on the FB RW (Runners World) masters page (honestly, FB just doesn't work too well for this kind of thing).  Glad you found where at least some of us landed (would love to find NB4--I think he'd approve).

Be careful if you're digging out!

              Have a great night everyone!

                Hello everybody!

Good luck in your marathon on Sunday, Falconfixer.

Yeah...Anzlo even changed his name to Anslo...then snuck in and changed it back.  I think he's messing with us because we're old.

So, Tramps--should I happy about Cousins joining my team?  As you can imagine, our sports radio stations have been talking about this since the Super Bowl.  I can't wait for him to be officially introduced so we can go on to something else.

I went 11 miles, tonight, including 9 at tempo pace.

                Okay--gotta go.  See ya!

falcon - wow, you mean THIS Sunday?  I'd say you are in shape.

hi rosie! like holly said, I fell on the ice a week ago and broke my left wrist (and then walked the rest of the way home).  I did OK last night but plan to take a pill now.  I may have overdone it this afternoon. I enjoyed my walk in 45° sunny skies and then decided to run for a bit. 3.4 miles in 58:10 so mostly walking or wogging.  not really painful considering all that hardware in there. I don't anticipate going back to work anytime soon, but we will see what the doctor says.

Kevin - how can you live in a place that gets 18-20 inches of snow and NOT own a snowblower?

Ummm... we own a pickup with a snowplow.  Our big snow season hasn't started yet - we usually get the biggest snowfall in April-May.

It was unseasonably warm here today - I ran in shorts and a tee shirt!  Pi trail miles (3.14) in 36 minutes, with a net elevation change of 500 ft. I tried to run the whole thing, but had to walk a bit on the last steep uphill back to the car.

Hope you're not to sore from that fall, Quickadder!

I agree with Leslie - Jay's RW pace is way faster than my running pace!

I hammered down the trail, passing rocks and trees like they were standing still.

                        Welcome KY John Terry.

Jay - I'm with ya. I won't enter a race that doesn't finish the same week it started on. It's not about the $1,000 dollar entry fee. How does the shirt look? Someone is thinking something weird if the cut off time is over 72 hours.

                        Henrun!! Love the snowshoeing!! Sweet.

TwoCat - I'm not the person who fired the customer. I would have though. I would not be surprised if many of us have the repeated defective part experience. One of our suppliers (part of a national company) reached out to my boss this week and asked what they were doing that's so ignorant. He deferred the response to me. I happened to have pictures to follow up.including a debacle that happened yesterday. Two years ago, I sent a letter with pictures that was shown and read at a company meeting. So I don't think it was the big cheese passing to the small curd.

Holly, I'm sure you'll look stunning anyway you look. I've lost 15 lbs in three weeks. PM me and I can give you Reader's Digest version.

Erika - Good luck with Dad. <3.

RCG. I use FB for family and burning stress (Being weird). I don't drink or drug.

I've got an insane deadline ending the Saturday of the 24th. If other people have to work that Sunday, I will likely be unemployed. For a very good reason. My department is being audited and there's $22,000,000.00 of dotting "I"s and crossing "T"s. One of the four people that filled in while I was off for two weeks isn't smart enough to use a paper clip.

Now, that's the post we've been waitin' for.

Pi trail miles (3.14) in 36 minutes,

appointment for dad tomorrow morning at the foot and ankle specialist

just make sure it isn't Dr. Lo.

If foot/ankle's okay, the UW cherry trees

or down in the arboretum/Japanese garden

on the other side of First Hill might be worthwhile.

                          .

sounds too busy but, in case it might work out,

I've got a lunch break during an all day meeting

at Seattle University.  The President is from Fairbanks!

Mike--I'm not really a football guy. All I know is that the Washington team (with that godawful name) has got to have the most dysfunctional ownership in all of sports. Cousins was smart to get away. Maybe he'll thrive there. Who knows. His bank account certainly will.

                            RCG--

#4 The only acceptable way to eat brussel sprouts is to fry them, which can leave the house smelling like brussel sprouts, which is why you should add bacon so the house smells like that instead. Bacon > brussel sprouts.

#5 No you're not.  For the first time ever, Facebook has seen both a small decline in U.S. users this year and a bigger decline the amount of time users spend on FB, which may have to do with that whole undermining democracy thing.

                            Be safe. Be kind.

It was not Dr. Lo, it was Dr. Brage. Looks like Andy Warhol with reddish hair. But nice guy and very good. And Dad's foot is not ok, not at all. Totally awful, really. So, very little walking even though he likes to do it. Home now and exhausted.

RCG, I developed a lower tibial stress fracture in January. Probably ran on it longer than I should have (ok, not probably...) and then didn't stay off it like I should have. This is week #9 since I pulled the plug on running, and I'm trying to get back into it, slowly. This week was the first back to back runs, and even at just barely over 2 miles each, I think it was too much. So, nothing today and probably just a trip to the gym tomorrow. Emma was very happy to hear me coming up the stairs tonight.

Falcon, that puts a new twist on last minute sign-ups.
