Marj, I don't really like wearing my bike helmet at all, not sure if I would have worn it running, that did make me smile too.

Holly, glad you made your flight!

Stmpy, If you walk on the moving walkway you'll get farther . You know that there is a hockey game on if you can find a tv. it is NOT over, Tramps!

Did you get your walk in, Leslie? Did you check at the hardware store for something to kill the ants? Maybe call Orkin?

Wild, indoor camping is kinda fun but hope you don't get dumped on, it is May for crying out loud.

Do, never heard of that but hope it works for your body parts that hurt.

Dave, I would rather have the massages than. Chiro adjustment. Take it easy with the landscaping projects, tingling up your neck doesn't sound good.

My co-worker went to the dentist with extreme tooth pain today. It turns out that they had to redo a root canal. Yikes, I've never heard of that. The tooth has a crown so she had to see a specialist. I am supposed to have A root canal for a root infection in a tooth with a crown. I am not anxious to schedule the appointment.

We had stormy weather around here with tornado sightings (in Iowa again). SW MN just had thunderstorms and a tornado warning. Needless to say I obeyed the Running Rule #1 and didn't go out. Just did a few arm exercises then practiced my clarinet part for the orchestra concert coming up in six days. Uff da, I have a lot of work to do!

Carolyn's tough - she runs mountains, altitudes with little oxygen, relays, ultra's. going without hot water for a few days is nothing!

Leslie! glad to hear you ran/jogged/walked a bit. you'll be up to relay shape and running those 6 mile legs in no time!  -

      4 miles for me tonight.

Busy day in my little town. We had a special election last night to approve 3 tax levies. one was a renewal for the animal shelter and animal control services. one was for our libraries and another for law enforcement/rural patrols/juvenile detention facility and jail beds.

The shelter levy passed overwhelmingly, which I was confident it would.  Some may recall that a number of years ago, our library system actually closed down. this was when david was in elem school, so school libraries would hold some saturday hours so kids could go to a library. The libraries were closed for about 2 yrs until a group of citizens raised enough money thru fundraising to re-open on a PT basis, which is how it currently is. about 4-5 hrs/day, 4x/week.

the safety levy is one that has been voted down for about the last 10 yrs. people in this former timber industry town do not want to pay for law enforcement and jail services, yet complain vehemently about crooks getting a free pass. We received federal funds for decades for timber which has been what paid for these services in the past and the locals got used to that. There's a lot of poverty in this area with a lack of industry and lack of education. We have not even had a juvenile detention facility open for about the last 5 yrs now.

well, lo and behold, all 3 levies passed. i had to draft an official statement to the paper about the animal shelter levy passing and I was interviewed on the news this afternoon, so in between prepping for that, work, a dental evaluation for a possible root canal (not needed! yay!!), I'm spent.

The 4 miles felt good though and I'll probably do it again tomorrow. Supposed to be hotter out and that's actually what I need to prep for the relay in one month. Not sure I could get lucky enough to have great weather with cooler than normal temps two years in a row!  But here's hoping it works out that way.

Tammy, good to hear those three all passed. All worthy of financial support from the citizenry, for sure. We're hoping for an income tax here to help close our dreadful budget gap, but the senate voted it down so not sure where we go from here. They're approach is to take funds from savings until oil prices rise again. I can't think of a more bone-headed thing...

Carolyn, you have a wood stove, right? I doubt you guys will freeze, but it might be time to break out the extra down comforters!

I ran home from work today. I didn't run yesterday but it's hard to call it a rest day when you're in another town, at a workshop all day, then a late flight home. Hardly restful. I'm still dealing with leg fatigue and shin soreness (at the start of runs), and my hips got achy a few miles in. Good grief, I feel like I'm falling apart. But, no real "injuries," I just think I need a better recovery/rest plan. I'll take it easy the next couple of days and try to get more sleep. We'll see how that works. 10.1 miles, 8:21 avg pace (yeah, too fast, I know).

Wildchild, your situation sounds like the opposite of fun.

          2.25 of jogging/walking in about 35 min . . . .

          I loved Tammy's post.

            Leslie - awesome!

Carolyn - a foot of snow - ouch!  Like Erika said, time to break out the wood stove - hope you have a nice stock of firewood ready.

            It's good to be home.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
