    Mornin' everyone.

I just have time for a quick walk-by this morning:  I got to bed a little late last night, and so slept a little late this morning. Still, I was out by a little after 5 for 8.2 RW miles in 69F temps and muggy air. There was a cooling breeze by the ocean, but it warmed and damped up very quickly as soon as I turned back inland. It was a bit of a struggle to keep to a reasonable pace and suck in enough air, but I did OK. For the second time this week, it started raining soon after I finished my workout. Today, I would have enjoyed a bit of rain, but a good shower was an acceptable substitute.

    OK - gotta go.

    Have a greta Saturday!

    Jay

Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos.

On Thursday my sinuses exploded. I think/thought it was allergies. DW thinks I might have a sinus infection. Whatever, last night DW went out and got me Flonase so that I can potentially breath. This morning the local race series hit 5.83 miles. I am not sure if Flonase impacts running but after mile 3 the wheels came completely off. The last two miles I struggled to run at my regular daily run pace.  It is supposed to rain this afternoon. I hope that if this is an allergy the rain washes whatever pollen is floating around down to the ground. Man, I have not had a sinus reaction like this in years. After this I am hoping it will be several more before it happens again. Sorry for the sad sack story. Just feeling sorry for myself I got to stop that now.

Live like you are dying not like you are afraid to die.

Well if it is allergies, that Flonase (and Nasacort) take 2-3 days to really start kicking in. For our spring birch pollen season (which peaks in mid to late May usually), I start the nasal steroid sprays (one of the above) in mid-to-late April. Sorry to be the debbie downer, but I hope you get relief soon. Bummer about the race, I hate it when that happens.

You've got terrific timing, Jay. I usually head out when it's nice thinking I'll get out in a break in the rain and then whoosh, I get dumped on.

Half marathon this morning and it looks like a beautiful day (finally!). It might get a bit warm by the end, but we will have a rerouted course (I think a re-rerouted course, too) because of the flooding in the area. Should be interesting. I have not aspirations of any great time today, just want to finish in good shape. I foresee walk breaks...

I never though we'd be hearing the 2-cat hoping for rain

          Hope it works, though

just want to finish in good shape. I foresee walk breaks...

Being in the shape they are, it's a pretty sure thing erika, and all the goddesses,

are in good shape no matter what they do, even when they don't.

ps erika - I assume it is a trail run.

In fact, is there anything else up there? I

          ,

First run of August - 2 miles.

Too much going on to think about running but, after so much fishing and swimming

since the Frank Maier Marathon last Saturday, I had a strangely overwhelming desire

to go running this morning so ran the mile down the nearby river to the post office

to mail a letter for the 9:30am pick-up. If I lived on Starr's beautiful lake,

          I'd probably have a 40-year streak though.

Back just in time as GS is chomping at the bit to go fishing.

ps tom - after I struggle for a while trying to thread

the monofilament through the tiny eye of the hook

and then through both loops of the fisherman's

knot I'm trying to make, I love hearing,

"I'll do it for you, papo."

"Enjoy yourself. Your younger days never come again." 100yo T. Igarashi to me in geta at top of Mt. Fuji (8/2/87)

              Hiya!

DH is suffering thru some awful head cold and cough.  He flew back to SD 7/23-7/30 so prolly plane germs.

I got him OTC meds; he eschews them, but enough already!

Simon was astoundingly good today.  Sox not .so much so far.

Did I mention how good Spotlight, the movie, is?

17 for me.  Waited to see how DH was faring so didn't go out until 8, way late, but had some cloud clover, thank goodness.  Still slow

              but steady.

Happy weekending.  Loved the 22 challenge video, Holls!

              grins,

              A

              Marathon Maniac #957

Amy - I am glad that Simon is behaving today!

Twocat - my opinion would be that it was not the Flonase but perhaps the fact that your body is fighting an attack/infection and therefore compromised, and that is the reason the wheels came off.  Rest and get better and don't stress about it.

DD managed to break her finger, catching a ball and jamming the finger so badly that it apparently broke at the point where it meets the hand.  The x ray looks like a little chip broke off.  We will see a hand specialist Monday or Tuesday, depending on when they get us in.  Probably they will just say, wear this splint for several weeks, but given that it is her dominant hand, we want to take all precautions.

Looks like she won't be playing on the golf team after all.... at least not for a while.

My knee was tender this morning, so I just did 1.1 miles running, then did 30 minutes on the bike trainer.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

I never though we'd be hearing the 2-cat hoping for rain

                  This is way too funny!!!

Holly, sorry about your DD's mishap. Take care of that knee!

Erika,  how did your half marathon go? I hope the sun was not too hot at the end of the race.

                  Enkie, how is life?

18 trail miles for me this morning. I love trail running because it takes the pace target totally out of my mind and I just enjoy the run for running sake.

It is good to do that for the soul once in a while.

                  Enjoy your weekend, folks.

Deez4boys, how are  you doing, sistahh?

Twocat - hope you feel better

Aamos - same for your DH - think there are some nasty viruses going around right now

Starr - sorry your DH is struggling so much - I've been trying to hep a friend this week whose anxiety has snowballed to the point she resigned from her job the other day. She is getting help and I pray it doesn't get as bad as it did for her a few years ago.

Erika - hope you had a good race

Holly - bummer about your knee and your DD's finger

Posai - nice run!! Things r a bit rocky here but thanks for asking - will fill in more later, but my son with the 2 beautiful daughters is also struggling again with alcohol and drugs

no running this weekend - body is cranky working 3 12'snin a row so I'm not pushing it right now

                    sleep well my friends
