Sorry you had to abandon your back-up with Pocono. It’s tough doing all that training and then having the weather blow it out of the water for you. Marathon training is such a crapshoot that way.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
Just a dude.
Yay... my first week over 60... Felt pretty good too except for the tight hamstrings...

Wow. It's even hard to count to 30, let alone run that many!
21 miles EZ at 9:19 pace. A warm one out there.
"Some are the strong, silent type. You can't put your finger on exactly what it is they bring to the table until you run without them and then you realize that their steadiness fills a hole that leaks energy in their absence." - Kristin Armstrong
Thanks again, Holly.
I managed a moderate ankle twist on a trail run so I may dial back the plan to just easy runs this week; we'll see.

Thanks Holly. Mostly fewer, easier miles this week. Starting to assemble gear for the 50 mile race on the 22nd. Just got new Dirty Girl gaiters in the mail from XY Weiss and they are best out there for keeping dirt and rocks out of shoes.

Still in cut back mode. I'm supposed to get an MRI on my back sometime this week (waiting to get appt). I am improving, but slowly. My mileage will likely be somewhere in the 30's.
So Holly, you can go ahead and leave me off of the list for now. I am shooting for being back to real training early June.
Not at it at all.

Tater - you out for the SL5? Hope you get better soon!
No, I'll be there. If I am feeling better I'll race it, otherwise my son (who is 20) is running it and I will run with him. He'll probably come in 45 - 50 minutes so it would be easy for me to do, and family time is always good.
I'm still running but have cut back and thrown out any workouts. The chiro has not told me to stop running, and honestly I don't think that not running will speed up my progress. Just trying to maintain some fitness.
SL5 is a tough race to try to meet but let's try, even if only briefly. I see that you are running Wineglass too, so I will see you there. Thanks.
Thanks Holly!

Thanks Holly.
What next? Local 5K races through the summer while maintaining a higher mileage base. A unique September race which I'll put on Ilene's race list in the next week or so, then an October marathon where I hope to BQ for 2012. I'm still deciding on the October marathon. Possibilities are Niagara Falls International Marathon, Hartford Marathon, Royal Victoria Marathon, Portland Marathon, or Bay State Marathon. And of course the Flying Monkey Marathon at the end of November (of course everyone knows you can't train for it, so why bother?) is on my schedule.
M - rest day

W - 8 miles
Th - 8.2 miles
F - rest day
