Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Thanks, Holly!
Wow – I thought you only ran every other day?
I'm just trying to keep up with the rest of you guys. Running slower has allowed me to put in more days of running--I have to admit--I'm amazed. I've only got two weeks, though, before I have to start tapering. These races get in the way of some good running, sometimes.
Here's what the plan calls for this week--hopefully I'll do a little more.

1:32:31--nice and easy--the legs, actually, felt a little better--although my left Achilles is acting up a little bit and my Morton's Neuroma has flared up on my right foot. That's what I get for trying to be like Rob.

Transitioning to a new training plan -- could be interesting. Initially, I think I will be working on my top end speed more than I like. OUCH!!!

ETA -- American Idiot was AWESOME!!! As a big fan of Green Day and the album, I really enjoyed seeing how they put a story together that matched the album concept.
And you can quote me as saying I was mis-quoted. Groucho Marx

SCHEDULE 2016--
The pain that hurts the worse is the imagined pain. One of the most difficult arts of racing is learning to ignore the imagined pain and just live with the present pain (which is always bearable.) - Jeff

As I recall I was the one to tell you to slow down...
I did slow down. Average pace in Oct 2011 was 7:14--average pace in Feb 2012 was 7:47. But, then I added more miles. I'll be okay. I've got one more week of beating myself up and then I'll start to taper. I love the extra miles. I almost feel like I did 15 years ago. I sure hope it pays off in Knoxville.
Is there an easy way to get the standard table "you people" are using? Day Plan Actual Mon 6.2 7.2 Tue 6.2 6.2 Wed 6.2 6.3 Thu - Fri 10 10.5 Sat 12.1 Sun - Total 41.8 30.2
Bill - the table I use is in Word format. I have it in a Word document on my computer, then I hit the "paste from Word" button up above here and paste it into my post. If you like, you can email me at hollys4874 at yahoo dot com and I will send the template to you.
Bill, another way to do it is to copy one from someone’s post.
You now have the table plus whatever else was in that original post. Go through and delete what you don’t want to keep, while keeping the table.
Man, that looks more complicated in writing than it actually is!
Anyway.... I didn't get a chance to post this week but I did get my 40 in....
43.9 miles for me.
First week of taper...which oddly comes after my cold-induced radical taper.
Be safe. Be kind.
Prince of Fatness
My leg has started to go numb again during some runs and I am going to have to go on hiatus. Definitely a nerve issue. Return unknown.
I have appreciated you doing this Holly. Thanks.
Not at it at all.
Yes, you did slow down. Can you now try adding some true recovery runs? Maybe one or two quality runs and then the other ones are even more leisurely than 7:47? Just a thought...
