My foot does not actually hurt, but it still fees "iffy," so I am not really sure how to proceed.

You know, that's probably a good way to describe my "issue," too. I'm running (when I can, thanks to work, travel and weather issues) but I can't say I'm at 100% with this left leg. I'm not really having the lower hamstring/upper calf pain anymore, but the whole medial side of my knee is "tight" and doesn't hurt, per se, but it is uncomfortable at times, making me feel the need to stretch my quads and hamstrings. It's just sort of a really weird feeling. I'm focusing on trying to run easy (and yes, Jay, I agree that going "easy" does take more effort of mind) and staying active while not letting the pace bunny get more than 100 miles ahead of me. I figure if I can keep that target in sight, it should be somewhat easy to catch up this summer when I really do plan on running more.

Plan today is 15 miles to get me to 40 for the week (first time in months), but I'm not wedded to that idea and will cut it short if need be. (see Mike? That's how you do that talking to yourself thing)

Loved the picture of Joe with Marj and Henry. They truly are a delightful couple and we always try to see them when we're in Boston. I don't think I could stand a trip to Boston without seeing (or staying with) Kirsten, and seeing Marj and Henry. It just wouldn't be right! (ok, before I get in trouble here, always great to see Kevin and Denice, too!) Joe, I loved how you made that a real marathon vacation trip, instead of just zipping in and out.

Dg! So glad to see you posting again! Anything matters, remember that!

I love Leslie on a roll. And yes, being at work by yourself is sometimes very rewarding. Except when it's a perfect day outside.

Denise, I'd never heard of the cheeks, how does that work? The tongue-tie is treated with a frenectomy, right? Sounds like a rough start to life. Hope she does ok with all that.

Started seeing annoying ads again so clicked the "disable ads" and sure enough, my subscription expired so re-upped that and threw in a little more. Eric does so much to keep this place going, it's important to support his efforts!

After my 4.5 blustery cold miles in Juneau on Thursday morning, I didn't run on Friday because 1) the lone treadmill at my miserable hotel was broken, and 2) the weather was awful with 4" of wet slushy snow and winds. Forget that crap. So, Friday was a day off, but yesterday, back at home, got in 8.2 miles in mid-40's temps. I'll see how today goes.

Erika - that is it - a weird feeling, uncomfortable at times and tight-feeling, but not actually painful.  However, last weekend my peroneal tendon was quite painful, but taking it easy this week seems to have helped it a lot.  BUT, the age-old question, should I run as normal, or give it more rest?  We are just entering the lovely running weather, and I don't want to put myself out of commission fro months. The pace bunny?  I have given up.   I just want to get back to my regular 40-mile weeks again.

DH posted this on FB, but it's worth another mention here.  I am so proud of my son, not just because of his accomplishments, but because I love the person he has become - kind, thoughtful, insightful, funny - just a cool person to have a conversation with.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Excellent photo.  We all had to wear ties

in those days as a harbinger

of what was to come (and did)

        Thanks Jay

I'll have to look up paella

but, if it has seafood, I like it.

Tet, I saw Jeannine,... remember  when  you helped her with her marathon in Japan?   Don't know if I told you, since then she ran the Antarctica Marathon.  How cool is that?   (ha)      Not sure what else.

        dg -neat. thanks.

Have her bring you out here to the PNW sometime.

Wasn't she going to, or did she, run the Yakima River

Canyon Marathon or was that someone else?

I imagine it’s root canal Monday morning. Going to try some whiskey and scotch. light yard work and a jog today.

Bioguy - sorry but, it it's a level of pain requiring

a root canal,  I changed it for you.  Unfortunately

the pain of the root canal itself is usually

a lot worse but it'll be all over tomorrow.

ps Leslie - fantastic on the new truck.
Remember when you only had to turn an on/off knob for the radio and push one of five pre-set buttons for the station you wanted (our town only had two) or turn the other knob to move the tuning band, to say nothing of a knob and two little levers for window defroster and warm air into the interior?  Now it seems it’s necessary to take you eyes off the road two or three times to find the right icons on the navigation screens.
pps Leslie - congratulations on getting the hang of multiple internal quotes in posts.

Six miles - Don’t have enough time on Easter Sunday to take advantage of all the waiting and transfers associated with the annual debut this weekend of Metro’s Trailhead Express shuttles I usually wouldn’t mind waiting around for from downtown Seattle to four hiking trails in the nearby Issaquah “Alps” (that I can’t call Alps after watching a travelog on summiting a way-steeper-than-I-ever-imagined Matterhorn) so drove the 30 miles out to Rattlesnake Lake to enjoy the two mile trail up to the overlook ledges with east-west views of the sunrise and moonset.

Timely arrival at the park parking lot in the darkness at 5:20 am and was up to the ledges for the 6:10 am sunrise with about a dozen other hikers already waiting but coastal cloud cover provided  nothing to see except the lake below so went back down in time for a circuit of the lake trails before driving back to get DW’s morning coffee going in time and ready for Easter as if nothing had had happened.

          Hey everybody!

it looks like you've all been busy with racing, guests, churching, and yard work!

I finally went running today after more than a week off due to the cold from hell.

          4 miles

The coughing and hacking actually brings stuff up instead of the sticky gunk that didn't budge, so it was a good entry back to it. The geese are hatching, little yellow fuzzy softballs on part of my run.

Busy day today, not going to get my planned run in.

Hey, everyone!  Great stuff from all of you!

Jay, forgot to congratulate you on your doctor's appointment...if "too much ear wax" is the worst complaint, you are in very good shape.   And in a position to take up candlemaking??

Holly, congrats to your DS and to his parents!  Great accomplishment and then off to grad school (but still nearby!!).

AnneB, thank you very much for helping the Cubs win today in the bottom of the 9th.   I saw your name in the fine print of the box score.  Kudos.

Just a beautiful day here.  Ran 4+ miles early, had a rich time at Easter church services, big local family dinner, long phone call with DS#3 who just landed a teaching job for the fall semester teaching 11th grade social studies, got my Mazda Miata out of storage and drove it around with the top down, folded a mountain of laundry from our trip (man, I've accumulated a lot of shirts from races...need to cull...), headed out for a walk with my DW and may throw a line into our pond to see if any bass are hungry.   We just saw a heron pluck a fish from water...but the heron is a much better fisherman than me.

                Rock your week, folks!!

                ________

I have nothing particularly clever or profound to add as a tag to each message...I just like to run.

Holly, that is so cool about your DS. He's really blossomed at the university, and he's going to go far with his degree(s) and dedication.

SB, I find that sometimes a good run helps me feel better when dealing with the cold from hell, but I do end up coughing a lot afterwards.

Nice job here, Tet! Does your DW know about your early outings or does she just sleep through it?

Welcome home, Joe, and you've had quite the day.

Got my long run done, 15.1 miles even if that last mile was a bit of a struggle. The day was warm enough (up to 50, maybe 53 or so in some spots) but that dang wind is sure annoying. But, luckily its coming from the ENE, so running from home toward DH's office gives me a nice tailwind almost the whole way. I did a couple of out-and-backs that had me running right into the wind and blech on that. So, 40.5 for the week, Woot!

Our forecast for this week, though, is awful. Up to 10" of snow Tuesday/Wednesday in the Interior, but most of that should fall north of us. We could see 2" to 5" in the local area, and high winds to go with it. So. Sick. Of. Winter! Good thing I'm headed to Scottsdale for a few days starting Wednesday.

                    Just a quick drop-in.

Congrats to your son, Holly!  Sometimes it's hard to remember he's all grown up.

15 min on the elliptical at the dreaded gym today, which was probably about 5 min too long.  Plus 2 rounds of PT.  Plus 3 (so far) rounds of ice massage, which feels really good.

The Hub went to Singing Trees today and celebrated his 8th sobriety birthday.  I went to early Easter service, then spent a nice quite few hours by myself.  Now I'm watching "Free Solo," so I gotta go.

                    Later, dudes and dudettes ~~

I was up early to get to choir practice by 8:00 but didn’t get a sunrise run in. I started the C25K program last Thursday and it’s just what I need to get running again. I used it 15 years ago and that’s how I found coolrunning.com. I have been doing 1 or 2 sessions a day so am up to Week 2 Day 2.

After digging and raking in my flower bed I went wading in the lake to look for one of our dock sections. No luck and it was super cold.

MrStarr left for a class in the Cities so I got the 20 pounds of Sloppy Joes ready for potluck on Wednesday. The kitchen is a mess but I a tuckered out.

See ya and Hi to Dg 👋🏻

                        Starr - good luck.

Erika - in the absence of any big projects for the time being, I think it’s the MapMyRun app feedback on the smart phone I finally last year that’s providing the incentive to go running for running’s sake instead of just waiting for the next race as in the previous 42 years of running.

While I’m usually zzz’ing by 9:30 pm, DW stays up until the we hours watching Japan media so she usually doesn’t wake up or even miss me taking off, especially since I usually get back in time for some more zzz’s myself.  However, I always leave a note where I’m going and when returning.  If it turns out different, I have the phone, . . . and she has hers too.

Any of my posts on running, or anything else, would likely put her back to sleep instantaneously so I think everyone’s stuck with my posts for as long as I can run, if not longer, . . .  I hope.
