Uh oh--the ads are back.  Must be time to send more money.

Hello everybody!  I don't have a lot of time but I wanted to stop in and say hi.  Hi.

I did my last tough workout, last night--now it's easy running until next weekend.  Looks like a low of 57 and a high of 75 for the day before...man that looks good.

    Okay--I gotta go!

((ribs))  Sorry can't possibly skip giving your handsome self a hug when everyone else already had their chance!!!  However, your second post was great advice - especially the "what would you do if I was your dad" question you ask - I know I tend to answer that as honestly as possible when it's asked of me!!

This snow does make it tough running outside, but I  going to attempt it tomorrow mid-day ---- did my track workout last night and a 6.2 easy run tonight on the treadmill and don't think I can stand to do a 3rd day in a row on the mill!!!

      Sweet dreams my friends!

Thank you all. And please, please, skip the prayers and hugs.

I know you didn't post that for prayers, hugs. blah blah. I just wanted an excuse to give you a hug you know

Marj, I agree... retirement is NOT a four-letter word! I have 6 years to go... well, as of April 30 it'll be 6 years at the most. We'll see how far I make it.

Ribs, that's a really good approach. I can't imagine anyone giving you misguided advice when you're looking right at them after saying that.

A rain dance for Leslie! Yay! I hope it's a worthwhile amount!

Dave, sometimes I tell myself, just do 10 minutes, then see how you feel. If it's not the day, you'll know it. But usually, once you get through those 10 minutes you can keep going to at least get a minimal workout done.

We got snow today! We probably got at least 4-5 inches, and man did we need it. After the warm January we had, we lost a lot of our snowpack and we need that snowpack to insulate our pipes (water, septic...) from freezing. We could still get several weeks of -20 to -40 temperatures, so we were getting a little concerned about all the snowpack we lost in January. Should be better now, even with the cold temps forecast for this weekend.

So, the snow made running tonight an issue. But DH picked me up from work and took me back to his office, where I started my run on sidewalks that had lots of foot traffic, so somewhat packed down. But I was headed to a stretch of road with a couple elementary schools on it, so there were streetlights and the roads were well packed from cars. 4 out-and-back laps on that road, then back to DH's office and some back-and-forth on the road nearby. Ended up with 6.1 miles at an 8:30 average. Slowest miles were #1 and #5, on the snowy sidewalks and unlit back roads... had to go slow because I couldn't see! Note to self: pack a headlamp in that running bag!

sorry to say that the ancient one's running advice usually goes right over my head but he always hits the nail right on the head with his life advice.  thanks.

Cross training at a blood donation center. The foul weather had several local events canceled. Those with type O- have gotten calls asking us to drop by one of the donation centers.

Need a little help with a Valentine's Day poem:

I once fell in love with Michelle.

              she  is really super swell.

              I made her my wife

              We're together for life.....

              Now I'm stuck.

                I agree!

Erika - I had not thought about the snow pack and how it worked as an insulator for your pipes.  Makes sense though.  I know the unaccustomed frigid temps this year around here have caused a lot of burst pipes and water mains.

DH and I took the plunge and signed up for smart phones - Sumsung Galaxy S4 Active - the active part apparently meaning that they are waterproof and dustproof.  I wasn't actually planning on using it in the shower, but nice to have that as an option.  I would have been fine continuing with my dumb phone, but DH really, really wanted a smart phone.   He spends long hours overseeing construction projects where he doesn't have access to a computer and the phone would help keep him connected.

5.5 recovery paced miles for me on Thursday.

Because without her I don't do very well.
