Hello all. New to the group.

In a past life (1982-1985)  I ran junior high and high school cross country. In 2011 I was 223 pounds and had the crazy idea to take up running to get back into shape. I did a pretty good job of it. By 2013 my weight got down to 150 pounds, I did a 20:00 5k and a 1:37 half marathon. In the middle of 2013 I had a blood clot in the leg from a trip to China and haven't been able to recover my running form. Although I run some still (like about 500 miles per year), it just hasn't been the same. Every time I get a role something else goes wrong. Pulled muscles, broke a hand running into the mailbox in the dark, got laid off my job, etc.

I plan on making 2017 my comeback year. I need to lose about 15 pounds as I have gotten up to 170. My goal is to get back to 20 MPW. Right now I can run in the 3-4 mile range. I plan to slowly build. I am also getting back to focusing on core exercise to try to avoid the little injuries.

Yesterday - 1 hour of tennis plus 2 fastish mile at a 7:50 pace.

Today - I am getting a new Garmin 235. I might just have to test it out with 2-3 miles.

Welcome to our group! You will find this place being a very nurturing place where we share about running, family, life, work, etc.

My mariposa wings have a one week taper before the Blooms and Brews marathon this weekend. In reality my plan is to run for 22 miles as a long run, then walk/run the rest. My target goal now is the wee marathon in Cork in June, so this weekend will be a "girls weekend away" that involves some running.

Off to distribute more race flyers around town.

Holly I'm so sorry. Poor little Daisy. Sorry to hear she was sick at the end. Poor baby. Hope DD is ok...

Tammy, I'm impressed by how David does so well at whatever he puts his mind to. Will serve him very well in life!

Got out for a run at the end of the day, temps had dropped a bit but still like 48. What I hadn't counted on was the wind from the east! Made my eyes water so much on the return trip, I'm sure I looked like I was crying. 5.6 miles.

I've met you in a past life too!!  I mostly lurk here, because these folks actually run, and I kinda ... don't ...

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.
