Good news for my morning prep time, bad news for my dating prospects.  And bad news for potential lice.

As for today's thread title, Cartman would (and did) say: "Rainbows piss me off."

      Ah!

      The Honey Pot of Gold!

(here in the great PNW, one of our portapotty providers is "Honey Bucket".  EW.  But another one is "Wizard of Ooze".  Honey Bucket no longer sounds so bad)

On the goose gangs...were they wearing colors?

          And little tiny tatoos?

No run today.  Three days in a row so far this week, so it's extra stretching and some Pilates for me this evening.

stevieray,   geese are mean!  One attacked my head a while back so I'm really wimpy when they're en masse.   No colors.  they were camoflauged as friendly.   But I knew better.    I thought about you & your neighborhood bear this morning.  helped add a little perspective.    the duck... someone just stepped on his little duckie heart.
thinking about the portapotty providers... it just struck me that you actually know their names.  And then that seemed a reflection of how much you race!

Carolyn, thanks!   I hope so too.  You get that look too?

Kevin, I think you're right.  Looked for a picture of them in step (double trouble) snapping their fingers, but couldn't find one.

Maiposai... I sent you a message.. did you get it?  You didn't need to reply, I just wanted to make sure beause I didn't want you to think I was ignoring your amazing and wonderful Ultra Experience.

Nono, I forgot that you're another Free fan.  And a fellow pelvis pivoter. Wink.   My PT told me something

I hadn't realized.. that running on legs of different lengths, or pronating more w/one foot than another,  (which apparently I do) can tend to throw the pelvis back out.  Sad.  Hence, I'm wearing my adrenalines about 1 day a week.  Otherwise, Frees.

            Spareribs, awesome track run yesterday.

Twocat, thanks.  I have something that might go along with that; if I can find it I'll post it or send it to you.

Don't know what's up with my overposting today.  Sorry.  I hope to make up for it tomorrow.

And... 4.6 easy miles this afternoon, w/ 8 strides.

              So 17.8 miles today.

              It was a good day.

                      .  Ok, enough fowl talk

Keep it clean, this is a family show

Our run today made me think of Erika letting her DH run off leash. 1.5 Tag miles with a better time and the AT feels good. The calf is still pretty tight.  Yesterday, my watch broke. I got one with numbers I can see without my reading glasses. Sweet. The down side is, the watch is large and I need two hands to lift it.

DW and I got the dog down to the river and he finally went in. He was shoulder deep then started bouncing like a toddler testing a trampoline. Then he tried digging into the river bank. Then he tore loose! That's my boy! He has DW's eyes and my back hair.

Soon, we have to go back with a camera. There's a vine we can't identify and it has crimson buds getting ready to blossum in groups of five or more. Kewl.

                         dg,

I'm the freakin' Imelda Marcos of running shoes at this point. I love Nike Frees, but have added a whole lot to my repetoire.  I just wore a pair of Mizuno Wave Revolvers out the other morning, and I forgot after 1/2 mi that I had new shoes on....always a good sign.  I have a rack of shoes at the ready, based upon what kind of ride I want that day.  Hopefully, it'll take me to race day with you next spring!!!

                        GOALS 2011: LIVE!!!

Worse the article's authors indicate there are some studies that imply many of the things added to sneakers to "help" with pronation and Achilles Tendon issues may do more harm than good!  You want worse news?  Try this, the professional organizations that one might hope would work to protect runners like the International Federation of Sports Medicine are actually sponsored by firms that make running shoes!  These institutions then have the gall to recommend running shoes by of all things their sponsors!  Thanks guys!

                          .

I don't really see any sort of insider favoritism here; rather, seems like a chance for all the shoemakers to chip in and mutually benefit from any research that the IFSM might conduct. Were I going to conduct such a study, they'd be the first people I'd hit up.

The article you mention has received a lot of attention, and though I doubt I'll run barefoot for any appreciable distance, barefoot running seems to have worked out well for some. I've had very few injury issues, but also know that a lightweight "performance trainer" is about as minimalist as my feet will allow; my last two attempts to wear flats has resulted in a sharp, stone-bruise like pain on the ball of my left foot.

So, clad in my Asics Gel DS 14's, I trotted an easy 4 this morning, chasing away any residual soreness from VCM.

                            Evening gang!

dg - I would love to have provided a home for your wayward duckling ;-).

Eliz - glad to hear you are enjoying your Iphone.  I'm contemplating getting one when my current contract expires.  Don't know if I want yet another addiction.......

I'm vying for the Klutz of the Week award.   I was running on the MKT trail in Columbia, MO early this morning.  It had rained overnight, so temp was around 60 - IRC for this area.  I was on the return leg of my out and back - enjoying all of the cardinals - when a rock jumped up out of nowhere and snagged my toe.  Of course, I went flying and landed on my left hand.  Cracked one of the metacarpal bones and gashed up the hand pretty good.  The friend I was staying with works with a specialty medical practice (how convenient) and took me in to see a hand specialist before I could protest.  They dug the gravel out of hand, bandaged me and sent me on my way.  The worst part of the whole thing is that I trashed my Garmin when I landed.  The bone will heal, but I think the Gamin is a total loss ........sob......  I did finish the 7 mile run ;-).

Now I'm going to take my pain pill and go to bed.  I have an early flight back home tomorrow, and I have to run a trail race tomorrow night - provided I don't have any flight delays.
