    Mornin' everyone.

    Tuesday’s tootanormous workouts:

    Tramps (8.7 miles with hillage)

Dave (Gym time for ARC & weights)

    Stumpy (3.1 dragging miles)

    Holly (5 TM miles)

Fatozzig (40 min of core & ST on Monday night - did OK)

Pfriese (10.5 cool, humid, foggy, nice morning river trail miles)

Rochrunner (23 mile bike ride for coffee and a donut with the hard core cold-weather riders)

Catwhoorg (5 sweaty, humid, slow miles)

Flats, or someone nameless (6 evening miles with his shirt on backwards)

CMDan (1 hr of tennis, the  2.2 miles)

BerthaSlayer (9 miles w/ hard 4 at tempo pace)

    Tammy (6.1 miles - that’s all)

“Orangeman” in my post yesterday should have been Orangemat, but I didn’t catch it when my dang software ‘corrected’ my error. Sorry folks, and no political reference intended.

Tramps, we’ve tracked gender participation on our annual road race series (8 races, including 5Ks, 8K, 10Ks) since we started in ’05 and women participation has been steadily climbing: the first year, there were 5% more women than men, and now it is almost 2:1. I suspect, and this takes nothing away from the capability of women runners because so many are so dang fast, that where qualifying is not necessary to enter a race, there will be more women of almost any age than men these days.

I’m glad your eye is getting better, Dave, and that it doesn’t appear to be the dreaded eye termites.

Rosie sure is a photogenic puppy, Holly!

Sorry about your RB having to pull out on the 50K, Fatozzig, but at least you can commiserate with each other.

Enjoy your quiet time at home this weekend, and especially after the 30K, Tammy.

“Demi could only manage 4th…” Rochrunner, IMHO, finishing 4th at Boston is a heck of an accomplishment, and doesn’t deserve the “only”. She clearly is an extraordinary runner to have done that well. Congrats to her, and your other local Boston finishers. That’s an impressive crew of runners! I’m sorry about your RP moving out without letting you know - must have been a nasty breakup with her boyfriend.

I hope you passed the bioscreen, Evanflein.

What did I tell you about Deez’s undeniable enthusiasm? I hope you get some good answers from tomorrow’s bone density scan.

7.25 RW miles this morning in 36° temps, and under a gauzy half moon. I did pretty well, except for when I got distracted by a gusty headwind from the east. The last quarter was at 10:28, but I don't know how long I can sustain that pace these days.

    Have a greta Wednesday!

    Jay

Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos.

2 easy miles this morning.  The dreaded company 5K is this afternoon.  The course is, well, wrong, and wraps around the property and is just generally nuts.  Most people walk, so no big deal.  The race company we hired neglected to get the permit in time, so we can't go off the property and cross any streets.  We have some paths and stuff, but still.....   This is not something I take seriously, but since a lot of my co-workers think I'm practically an Olympian, I get a lot of "are you going to win?"  and "5K is nothing for you!"    But- we get giant, heavy cotton t-shirts!     (Not complaining- the company does a lot for us and people enjoy "fitness and wellness week")

Company 5K in 29 minutes, which is a lot harder than I wanted to run.  But- it was a race and all......   Course was accurate (3.07, which is pretty close) and it was hot.  Warm up and cool down for 4.1 miles.   The president won and broke 20 again, which is really good- twice in a week!  I felt like a lot of women were ahead of me, but I was 5th and they were all young.  I'll take it!    Goal for a company race is not to throw up in front of your co-workers or have some sort of bathroom emergency!  Smile

Jay - I didn't even notice your Orangeman typo.

Speaking of Orangemat, how did she get so fast? Seems like I remember her training for her first marathon and now she is running some great times.  (Times that I have never or will never see.)  Or maybe my memory is wrong.  Who knows.

I ran 4 this morning. 60° with a nice breeze and clouds covering half the sky.  Winds from the south made it feel like I was closer to the beach than I really am.  It had the feel of an early morning down in Florida.

So, would you describe yourself as a sky half cloudy or sky half clear kind of person?

          Jay - good morning!

RunnerKSA - so, are you going to win?    No pressure or anything...those shirts I usually order in a larger size and give to my DS or DH - always good for mowing lawns, if nothing else.

Stumpy - it depends on the day...

4.5 miles for me on the TM this morning.

I have been taking Rosie with me (on my lap) when I drop DD off at school in the morning in order to allow DS to sleep a little longer (otherwise Rosie whines and barks when we leave).  This morning when DD was loading up her backpack, Dexter jumped into the car through the open door.  SO, I guess we will ALL be taking DD to school every morning....

I am going to do nothing today. I need a rest day.

            Trails are hard!

KSA--won't your CEO win?  or does he let the peons enjoy themselves?

Holly--confused on "depends on the day"?  meaning the drag me out attitude?  If that 's the case, this morning's attitude was much better--I actually wanted to go out.  The legs seemed to have not gotten the message, however.  6.4 miles that should have been 8, but barely under 10 pace cut into the time I had.  It is a cutback weekend coming up and it appears that it may be JUST in time.  BTW, it dropeed another 5° this morning, so more IRC.  Gotta love NE weather.  finished at almost 80° on Sunday, out in 45° yesterday, and 39° this morining.

Need a fast half for late fall.  Then I need to actually train for it.

Hey everyone. Just a quick drive by. No run yet for me but our club run is tonight at 6. Lots of work stuff.

Those puppy pics are adorable Holly.

RKSA - as soon as I read your post I went straight to Mr. Mom and their company Olympics. Good luck on that race today. Heh.

As always nice recap Jay and good workout.

                Cheers.

                  LOL

It's the President who runs fast. The CEO is fit but not a runner.  I think they might still be in a big marketing review and not be out there.  We have a guy from the mailroom that likes to win this and I haven't been able to get him out for the "real" races yet, but I'm working on it.  A couple of years ago our Sr. VP of HR won, which I didn't know when I finished.  I announced as I crossed the line that the course was WAY short (which it was).  He did not take kindly to that!

He was probably thinking he had a huge PR....

I expect RunnerKSA to win this race and I bet he could even win it wearing a soaking wet heavy duty cotton shirt. Take no mercy RKSA!

SRD for me. Having some deep tissue leg work done this afternoon and then depending on rain, David may, or may not, have a tennis meet this afternoon.

+1 on Jay's comment about Desiree Linden. As I blurted out at the time, though, I truly don't understand why she took the lead so early if it wasn't a particularly slow pace. From what I saw, Jordan Hasay seemed more disciplined and just sat with the lead pack the whole way; a veteran strategy from a marathon rookie.  (But, then again, what do I know? )

Mike--the Wild live to fight another day!  At least it's not a sweep.

Raining steadily this morning so I punted to lunch-time for an EZ 6 miler.

Last time the company did the Kaiser corporate 5k here in Atlanta, I managed to finish 2nd on our team.

The first 3 were totally predictable based on previous race history

Of course skip back a few years and we had a young chemist (who since moved) who ran and finished 4th overall, (in 16:30) which was pretty impressive. I think he has a sub 1:25 half marathon or two to his name.  His wife was almost as fast.

I keep trying to get HR to agree to have another company type event, but based on a smaller local 5K (which would be cheaper to arrange), but as our HR head is an overweight smoker, it isn't a priority it seems.

6 miles for me at lunchtime, eyeing the weather hoping for a ride later.

Heck, even the tobacco companies have runners. Exhibit A: Altria (a.k.a. "no, really, we're not Philip Morris")

ran tired 3 because i biked 10 earlier in the day - and it was windy in all directions - otherwise IRC

great puppy pics and having run only one corporate 5k in which the last 2 or 3 team runners were dropped, i'm an also ran

were at meeting last night where several of us live on or near the Boston route - one couple at mile 20, we're at mile 22 and another at 23 - we had very different perspectives on the lead runners based on location.  Kirui & Rupp were together at 22 but not at 23 and Desi was way back at 22 but made up time, etc.

Jay - thx again for recap
