Mornin' everyone.
Yesterday's wicked workouts:
RunnerKSA (2.7 early, pre-flight TM miles)
Tramps (EZ listless 6 miles in sun with a cool breeze)
Holly (20 min, weights & core)
Dave (ARC trainer workout and weights at the gym)
Tomwhite (40 min. at City Park w/ 2 lb. boots and 4 lb. stick)
Tet (5 dry morning miles)
BerthaSlayer (4 motivationless TM miles)
Enke (3 slow, mostly dirt track miles on OK knee)
Spacityrunner (4 speedy lunchtime miles with hillage)
Catwhoorg (7 miles + change with hillage)
Mike (11 pain-free miles, except for the hurt from doing 8 at MP)
Evanflein (5.4 miles with hillage repeats, taking it slow, feeling good)
Mariposai (About 11 post-work smile miles without feeling like dying)
Nice photo, Tramps, even if it isn't yours.
I'm glad your DD is so into lacrosse, Holly, but am sorry that it means more time and traveling for you. Congrats on sleeping in.
It's good to know where 'patient zero' is, Dave. Thanks for sharing...
When's the great walk-off, Tomwhite?
Congrats on your streak of dry miles. Tet. I hope I didn't just jinx it.
Smart to avoid the risks, Twocat, especially with spring races ahead of you.
Enke, I have confidence you'll get into hiking shape.
I'm glad you take advantage of your good fortune, Spacityrunner.
Whatever you are doing to be injury-free, Mike, keep doing it! You too, Evanflein.
Holy moly, chicken mole - sounds delish, Mariposai
We had a good meeting last evening in a small building near the beach. The temps had been dropping all day as the winds had begun howling. The windows were shaking in their frames all during our meeting. This morning it was in the mid-teens with the WC just above 0, and still very windy. My head is no longer into battling that kind of weather any more this season, so I stayed in, did some reading, and a bit 'o stretching.
FYI, I spent (a lot) more time on the phone yesterday, and found the actual cost of a CT scan, given my Medicare and supplemental coverage, is closer to $1,600, plus a couple of hundred for the radiologist - much better than the $3-5,000 I was quoted earlier. So the discussions continue, but it is beginning to look more like Mike is right (as he so often is).
Have a greta Thursday!
Jay
Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos.

Howdy folks!
5 miles for me on the TM this morning.
The weather is supposed to be warmer for DD's game tonight, low 50's, which is nice because it has been pretty cold for the games so far.
Fasting bloodwork tomorrow. I hate fasting. I am much better at slowing.
Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
I hate fasting. I am much better at slowing.
Groan!
Mike's always right. And fast, too, despite what he thinks.
Cool temps (32F), blue sky, bright sun rising, nice views from the ridge, great music, 10 miles on the trail. What's not to like?
Be safe. Be kind.
My coughing last night kept waking me up so I've been tired all day. I decided to cut out of work a few hours early and since it was just my brain that feels tired I figured a run wouldn't hurt. I ran 3 in some nice bright sunshine (55°.
Trails are hard!
Sounds like an excellent remedy, Dave.
waiting about at the airport in norfolk, VA to fly to JFK to fly to Boston with a short connection. what could go wrong there?
Have to check the weather and see what I'll be doing 4 miles in. Managed to miss the teens this morning.
Need a fast half for late fall. Then I need to actually train for it.
Sounds like a nice run, Dave.
Good news! I GOT A JOB!!
FINALLY! So that concludes 9 months of emotionally draining unemployment. It is just a 6 month contract, but I am hopeful I can impress folks at this company enough that a better, permanent position might come my way there. Or so I hope.
Now I can get my water heater fixed...
So I took Remi up to Cougar Mtn, and we did about 5 miles together. My knee didn't complain that much and I didn't walk as much as I was expecting, so this run was a good one in my books. Plus, it's a beautiful, mild day.
I'm going to a networking thingy tonight, and will surely enjoy a beer or two to celebrate!!

Thanks jay. Everything fine.
Please do it again for tomorrow.
.
In spite of a thin layer of clouds keeping the skies
grey, another five dry miles this morning during
what they are calling a “brief break in rain systems”
that’s predicted to bring an inch or more
tonight and for tomorrow’s five miles.
We’ll see.
whew.
Have a fun fast, Holly!
- good job enke!
In fact, it is such a nice day,
I'm gunna do the same five miles back too.

Yay Enke!
Speaking of "slowing"-I ran 4.3 miles today- only 9 minutes slower than 10 months ago when I was still running on a regular basis. I remain optimistic 😎

No, but that line could kill him if he's not.

Yay Enke. That's how DW got her permanent gig.
Good shopping Jay
I get it Stumpy. Thankfully I had direct flights today.
Got a new GPS watch. $30 Soleus. didn't read the instructions (hey I'm a guy). Started the run. Pushed a few buttons. Connected to satellite. Looked down and a 1.0 was at 5 min. Yeah its in km. Brilliant. Gave me a good chuckle. so 8.75 @ 44 minutes today. You can do the math. I was doing that during the run. Yeah I'm an enginerd.
One day at home and then Europe for two weeks. Will try to post some pics as I plan to run in as many neat places as I can find.
Cheers.

Holly S. what Tramps.said.
enkephalin yahoo! Congratulations!
Mike E and evanflein glad to read you appear to be all recovered!
I am so beat. Got up to teach an 8AM class. That should not have wiped me out like it did. But it did.. Now sure why. The over under on my running tomorrow has the odds on the over. My ankle felt fine today. If it is fine when I get up off I go for a few miles! I am keeping my fingers crossed. evanflein I can back off of running when something hurts because I remember the 2 years I could not run because something hurt. I would not recommend that as a way to ingrain this kind of caution.
