Photos of handsome men - why can't all RR's have those included? Wink Another well-run barefoot marathon for you - great job!

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Rick - amazing to put your bare feet to the test for the sixth time in an HoA that an ongoing topic on the MarathonManiacs has shirtless Marathon Junkie Chuck Engle characterizing as the "third or fourth hardest" of the hundred or more marathons he's won or placed in in all fifty states. Others agree, saying "it's the hardest road marathon I've ever done" and giving warnings about the six hour cutoff for runners who usually to 4.5 hour marathons, . . . to say nothing of comments on this year being "hot/humid and is very painful." If we barefooters had a category for barefoot running the roughest surface textures, you'd win feet down on those rough parts. Humor me and make me cringe a little with a photo of those awful textures. <>ouch/ouch/ouch)>>> Incidentally, HoA was the last of three marathons in three days for Chuck. 8/30/08 Pocatello 2nd 2:38 8/31/08 Tupelo 1st 2:47 9/1/08 Heart of America 2nd 2:54 When I met him a couple of years ago, he asked me if I knew barefoot rick and I was proud to say you are my friend too. Next time, I'll ask him what he thinks about you running a shodless HoA six times in a roe. Not many people can overawe someone with Chuck's accomplishments and I'm proud to know you as one of the very few.

I am amazed by Chuck's triple feat. He is the stud of marathon studs, in my opinion. Thanks Jon!!
