Marathon Maniac #957
For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for people who are over 40 years old who run 40 miles/week or more. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard...
Here’s what AI have for last week's tally.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

I'll need a pass this week. Flying to Oklahoma for our daughter's graduation (top student in the College of Education!) and driving back with my wife, so 2 rest days instead of 1, with about 30 miles planned.

SubDood Good luck tomorrow in the Wobegon marathon. It should be a good day for the run, nice and cool, temperature around 32 at the start and the strong wind from the northwest. That is pretty ideal, there will be a cross wind for the first 10 miles, but those miles are pretty well protected by the trees and hills. then there will be a tail wind for the last 16 miles.
i will be working as a road crossing guard at mile 9.9. That will be a cold task in that weather, I am thinking i should be running instead of volunteering this year. I will have to remember to dress warmly. One good thing about being at mile 9.9 is that I will have time to be to see the start of the race and then get to my road crossing. the last time i volunteered here i worked at about mile 4.5 and couldn't see the start.
Good luck, I hope you have a great race.
SubDood Good luck tomorrow in the Wobegon marathon.
Yes--good luck! I forgot that it is tomorrow. Have fun!
Thanks guys! I really appreciate the words of encouragement.
Spinach -- if you see a guy in a "Northstar Running" singlet over a long-sleeve shirt, that's probably me. (Although I may bundle up with layers prior to the start.) When I get to mile 9.9, I plan to yell "Spinach!" If someone yells back "SubDood," I'll know it's you.
Thanks for volunteering at the race!

My ideal is about 20 degrees different....
Thank you Holly
