Morning Gang Out at 07:00 (very early for me) today for a hilly 11m trail run. Nice temps with a little breeze at the top. It's about 700' up from our village with some spectacular views. Everything seemed good, Woody is stretching or should I say stretched out in the hall. Anyway: 11m 02:03:11 @ 11:12 pace AHR 146 67% Good Runs All Roy

OK, Roy, now that's plain spooky - here's part of my post from yesterday: "As planned, I was able to finish my first 11-mile run this morning. .. The run took me 2:03:11, for an average 11:12 pace." Twilight zone! Of course, the difference is that you were running on hilly trails, and I was running on fairly flat streets! Smile
Roy and Teresa - that's just weird. 9.0 miles in 1:30:18. Slow start (10:25), fast finish (9:05). Tried to post my 8 mile run yesterday morning, but the site seemed to be acting up. Never got time to check back in. Have a great day everyone, (A: we'd be up for a fall 09 reunion run)

Roy..nice scenic run! Roy..nice scenic run! Teresa..same run as Roy! WRFB...enjoy the tad cooler while it lasts! After a rest day yesterday and 9hrs of driving, my calves were burning during 2.2 mile warm-up with Tory. Then they got better when I dropped him off. The workout was 5 mi at 7:51(153), 7:45 (163), 7:45, 7:18 (165), 7:25 (167) 7.2 mi in 58:46 (8:10, AHR 156) Have great runs! Steve

Spooky runs to go along with the spooky full moon this morning! I was just thinking of you on my run this morning Roy - nice job out there today! Have you found another Marathon yet? Out for 4 miles with Brinkley this morning. Averaged 9:26 pace and 161 ahr. I saw the unfriendly couple about a 1/4 mile ahead of me, and knew I'd be turning around before catching up to them - thank goodness. Brinkley had an exceptionally good day as he scooped up a tennis ball and carried it home. He then decided to try and bury it though - so he ended up in his kennel . . . bad dog! Puppy eyes are starting to open. 2 weeks old today. Smile Cheers! ~Mary

Morning all, That is a strange coincidence Roy and Teresa....but cool though Smile Nice progression run PreDawn...the site acted up on me too yesterday. Good runs also for WRFB and Perch...I am sooo looking forward to the Holiday weekend myself. Wow Steve....9 hours of driving is torture to me, legs in one position for long periods of time. Glad your calves loosened up after your WU. 9 easy miles late last night in 1:20, that didn't feel so easy, so I need a break. Funny how we say easy when a run kinda hurts, but easy to me is the pace, not how I feel. I have 53.6 miles running the past 5 consecutive days, so I need a day off today and maybe rest Friday too...but plan on cycling tonight. Lots of "crappy" talk here yesterday Big grin Have a great day all...and good runs and such to everyone, Tim

Running has given me the courage to start, the determination to keep trying, and the childlike spirit to have fun along the way - Run often and run long, but never outrun your Joy of running!

Back from FL -- been dealing with post-storm issues at our house, and went to visit my Mom all day yesterday. She's recovered her speech and right-hand side nicely from the stroke, but isnt' thrilled about being in the rehabilitation center, so it makes for some hardship as she's fairly frightened by the whole thing. FL trip went downhill, which is why I haven't posted. Kids started having nightmarish nights, and I got no sleep for several days straight. Ended up DNS for my 5K. Sad At 5:15 a.m., after no sleep, I turned off the alarm which was to go off at 5:45 a.m. and gave in to rest, and the kids finally slept. I was in a lousy mood the remainder of the day though, as I've never just skipped any sporting event of any type in my life. Probably wasn't thrilled with Mr Nono's noting at about 3 a.m. that "You've never gotten a decent night's sleep before a race anyway. You'll be fine." He was right and I realized that on vacation, I should be able to go run a race. Why don't YOU take care of the kids all night Mr Dead-on Observation???? (BTW, he's still alive Big grin) So, this morning, I decided to lace up the shoes and just check out the legs. Did a quick 20 min which felt lovely. I think I'm going running tonight again, if the babysitter's schedule allows. So, life should be taking and upswing from here. Good runs to all!

morning! very nice run, Roy! it sounds beautiful up there. I love a nice happy tired dog . Teresa, I was hearing the twilight zone music before you said that. Smile Nice runs, everyone. Nonoruns, I was wondering where you were. ... They do have a way with words, sometimes, don't they?? Big grin. better hurry, & catch up later. gym again this morning. overall, 4:66 miles, running 3.59. ave. pace 11:13, max 8:02. ahr 167. max, 192, yikes. highest recorded. I wanted to push it at the end & was already pretty high to start with. have a great day.
Good morning, all! Roy - good to see you and Woody stretching together! PBJ - can't believe they wouldn't let you run near the casino. It's too bad the security guy didn't drop you off at Ft. Shattuck (probably misspelled). It's just off of 32 near the casino and has a nice paved running trail around a small lake. Big Bubbas has pretty good food. Good the hear the Van Halen concert went well - we have tickets to see Clapton in early June. Good ramping up runs for the Beers this morning. Always good to see your posts in the morning. Mary - happy 2 week birthdays to the puppies and their newly opened peepers. Tall - I could sure use a piece of that cake you made........ nonoruns - glad to hear your Mom is recovering from the stroke! 5 tempo miles on the treadmill this morning. I'm finally starting to feel sproinky again. Some of the responses to Vista's question about parents and exercise started me thinking about my childhood. My question for the day - what is your earliest childhood memory and how old were you at the time? Good runs to all!

Good morning! Very quick post of my run: 9 miles, with mile 3-4 up and down Stony Hill, mile 7, 8 at tempo (8:13, 8:18 - this was HARD), and the rest at a comfortable pace. Then at home: 60 weighted squats, 60 dead lifts, 60 weighted duck squats. Off to take DS to orientation for the middle school he'll be attending next year. Happy Thursday!

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

A day off for me, but I see the usual suspects out there already. Nice LR for Roy, echoing Teresa. Mary still running early enough to see the moon, and Deb cranking up her pace (and HR!) again. Then there's Steve, Tim, and the others also getting out and doing it. Sue, I think early childhood memories can be tricky. Sometimes they can be false memories, as our parents tell us stories about our childhood and show us old photos, and over the years we aren't sure any more if we actually remember the experience or just what we've heard about it. But my first certain memory is of standing at the bottom of the stairs in the first home that my parents bought right after the war. My mom and/or dad is showing me a box with some clothes that they bought for me. It's a set of those little (curdoroy) jumpers that you dress toddlers in, and they're in all the bright primary colors: red, yellow, blue, green. It's a very vivid memory, and I must have been about 2 years old, maybe 3 at the time. I'm looking forward to a 4-day weekend starting tomorrow, and some promised warmer temperatures. Plenty to do with planned running, bicycling, planting bushes, opening up the sprinkler system, doing my spring "detailing" on my car, and lots of other stuff. I just hope I find some time to relax!

Morning Boomers. 6.5 miles this morning in 59:10. IRC here - sunny, 41F and no wind. It's been hard to stay motivated this week after completing my half on Sunday. Now that the race is over, I feel like what's the point?Does anyone else ever feel like this after putting in several months of training? You work so hard, you don't want to lose the good base you've established. How to get over the post-race letdown? Tall - hope you haven't picked up L's bug. Maybe it's just pre-race jitters. Take care of yourself. Roy and Teresa - that's too weird. Let's see if you can do it again! Mary - updated pictures of the puppies with their eyes open please! Good run this morning - way to avoid the unfriendly couple. Nice runs Perch, WRFB and Tim. Nine hours in a car - whew! ((( Nonoruns ))) You seem to have a lot on your plate lately. So sorry about your race. It sounds like you listened to your body, which is a good thing. There will be other races. Good luck with your mother. Change can be a frightening thing for seniors - we went through the same thing with my mom. We had about 20 seniors get caught last Friday for "senior skip day." They have to make the day up, or they won't be able to graduate. This was the same day that someone (hasn't been caught yet) called a local television station to tell them our school was closed for the day due to a broken water main. It's been an interesting week to say the least. Kids - gotta love 'em. Good Thursday runs, and enjoy your holiday weekend everyone. Jeanne
