WEEKLY RUNNING & X-TRAINING GROUP w/e 1/17 (Read 787 times)

Another week ahead of us.  Have fun!

Dutchie - 21 running kilometers, 1x upper body (doing a great job in the evil dreadmill!)

Erika - 19.8 miles elliptical, 7.9 miles stationary bike, 4.4 miles rowing machine, 2.1 miles walked, 1 hr 10 min. pool running and almost 2 hours of weights (very nice x-training!)

Eliza - 14.5 miles running; 3 miles walking; 45 min trainer, some stretching ("trainer" would be a bike trainer - just in case anyone was wonderin' . . . )

Shadowrunner - 22.9 running miles, strength training (is "opting for a beer" legitimate x-training??)

Lyndenrunner - Doing 12-hour work shifts.  Ugh!

            Trails are hard!

Leslie--I'm guessing I just leap in here and put down my plan for the week?  I finally broke down and joined a gym to be able to get in some x-training for my hoped half in April.  Which I just discovered is a week earlier than I thought it was going to be.  Nothing like getting into a plan a week behind at the getgo.  Guess I'll give it a shot.

Monday:  Yoga class: completed (sort of)  The instructor was nice and said I did well for the first time.

Tuesday:   3 miles:  3.2miles (one lake loop) took 35 minutes with some walking, but 1st run in 2+ months

Wednesday:  X-training--will probably go walk max tonight:  only a mile--cold and late do not a good combo make.

Thursday: 3 miles + strength:  went to the gym, but no one around to set me up on any of the machines, so did 2 miles on the TM and the legs called it good.

Friday:  Rest day--amazing easy to accomplish.

Saturday: X-training of some sort:--hit the gym this afternoon, before heading to company holiday party to overindulge on scrumtious yummies.

Sunday: 4 miles:  Really enjoyed the food, but I did make it out for 4.3 including a little bit of wu/cd.

Need a fast half for late fall.  Then I need to actually train for it.

                {{nono's ankle}}

Monday - freaking out about adding a graduate class to my already-packed schedule, so ended up making it a rest day; later . . . . class is going to be cool and I shouldn't have any trouble fitting in some exercises on future Mondays

Tuesday - bike trainer 45 minutes; quick change to head to Philly for "WICKED"  whoo hoo!; later:  "Wicked" was beyond amazing; I want to go see it again in New York!

Wednesday - "took a nap" at 7:15 p.m. thinking I'd get up in a few hours and ride the bike trainer; woke up at 6:00 a.m. Thursday

Thursday - ran 4.5 and walked 1.0 after wearing Nike Frees at school all day; I'm definitely using my legs in a different, and good, way; NO foot or ankle pain after I ran - whoo hoo

Friday - falling-down tired again; not sure what's going on; rest

Saturday ran 7, walked 1 on the boardwalk; first boardwalk run since the 1/1/10 5K; so wonderful to be back on a FLAT course next to the ocean  Smile

Sunday - cold and rainy; bike train 45 minutes during Desperate Housewives tonight

Running mileage not where I want it to be.  Wearing the Nike Frees at work is helping my feet in a big way, though, both when I'm running and when I'm not, so I'm looking forward to increased mileage, without crazy foot and AT pain, next week.

                        Hi!

                        Thanks Leslie Smile.

I'm determined to get in here at least before the week ends.     Work is still nutty so I'll just record the whatevers & hope to catch up later.

                        (hi Kevin! )

Nono we have to stop this parallel universe stuff.   I have a freshly twisted piriformis, & I can't keep track of myself either.   "he rode madly off in all directions."   ankle hugs.   & head hugs.

because of the aforementioned piriformis, I don't know what to expect this week.    tip:   don't run striders at the end of your run if your S/I joint is wonky.

Monday:   rest.  40 min. core work, doggie walk, light snow shoveling.

Tuesday:   7 miles 10 min. pace, 4 striders, 2 good, 2 pitiful.    10 min. weights.

Wednesday;   23 min. ellipticalling, tried to recumbent bike but butt said no.   abt. 30 min. ub weights, stab. ball, reverse crunches, side planks & russian twists.

hey pretty nice week for all of you!

not a stellar week for me.   I won't fill the rest in, will just post the totals.

                        arc trainer, 41 min.

                        bike, 9 min.

                        elliptical 34 min.

                        walking 6.5 miles

                        running 7.3 miles

strength training 2 hrs. 5 minutes.

Sorry people to be so late

                          Mon:

nothing to report. The 10 miler took more out of me then I thought. That's my story and I'm sticking to it

                          Tue:

I bought the Insanity program for my boys and was challenged by them to do the 30 minute Insanity fit test. OMG... that's all I can say. After, I just was in no condition to run.

                          Wed:

did the interval workout I was supposed to do Tue.

The UK RW sent me their weekly e-mail with the 1st week of London Marathon training, not that I'm running it or anything. I picked their interval training and did a modified version of it on the TM:
                          1 mile jog ---------------------- 1.5 kilometers@9K
1.5 mile fast------------------- 1.5 kilometer@10K (this is really fast for me)
                          800 meters recovery jog--- 100 meter recovery walk + 700 meters@8.5K
                          1.5 mile fast-------------------- 1.5 kilometers@10K
800 meters recovery jog---- 100 meter recovery walk, skipped the other 700 meter recovery jog because of time constraints
1 mile jog ----------------------- 2.2 kilometers@9K, I did run late cause I did want to make up for the 700 meters.

                          total mileage = 7.6 kilometers.

                          Thu:

another run inspired by the 1st week of the London Marathon training schedule for me today:

                          10 min @ 9K, struggling
20 min @ 9.5K, struggling even more, I feel exhausted.
2 min walk break, really needed it. Had 2 fructose tablets and water
20 min @ 9.5K, struggled onwards, but after about 15 minutes, I caught myself smiling and enjoying myself, running smoothly!
8 min @ 9.5K instead of 9K cause I was just flyin' and
                          4:23 min @ 10K to finish strong

                          Totalling 64:23 minutes = 10 kilometers. Woohoo.

                          Fri:

I did my 1st Insanity w/o today: Plyo Cardio Circuit. I wasn't enjoying it as much as Jimmy did. I actually have other plyo workouts that I absolutely love. I'll give it a few more tries. The unfamiliarity with the workout may have something to do with it plus an instructor (Shaun T.) I hadn't worked out with before.

                          Sat:

Wasn't sore at all or tired from yesterday's Insanity. Hmmm.....

Did a most wonderful 7 kilometer steady state run on the TM @9K/h. Followed by a longish happy dance (a.o. mambo #5) cause the cd I was running on hadn't finished yet. I was just filled to the brim with endorfines, I tell ye :sun:
Added on STS Plyo legs, skipping the w.u. Now here's a w/o I love. Added a couple of stretches of my own after the w/o. Ahhhh, those wonderful endorfines.

                          Sun

I couldn't get my 10 miler in today. A friend came unexpectedly for a cup of tea but then stayed for hours to unload her frustration about her mother and sisters and the blow up on New Years Eve. She didn't leave until way past the time slot I had for today's long run

Normally I would tell people they'd have to go cause I have to run. People know I'm a runner and totally understand (or at least pretend to) But in this case I just didn't have the heart to.
