Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
Well this is it...Marathon week...and I'm not feeling overly optimistic about this one. I'm going to lay pretty low this week, and see how it feels on Sunday and give it all I have. My biggest concern is that I have no desire to be out on the course for four hours plus.

Thanks Holly.
Good luck to the New York runners.
Not at it at all.
Pretty well recovered and easing back into things. Stick around 35 - 40 just to be cautious before ramping back up to 48 - 55 MPW for month over Nov before 2 week taper leading to 12/12/09 Rocket City.
1 mi warmup + 5k --- Gunnning for 21:45
Ended up with 22:51 in Extremly Windy conditions (20 mpw w/ gusts up to 40 off lake erie) ... Not alot of fun running uphill at mile 2.0 - 2.5 into a headwind 4th of 13 in AG (40 - 44) and 22nd overall out of 183.
DD ran and placed 2nd in AG (< 14) and PR.
DS ran and finished his secound 5k.
"It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it Great!

Thx Holly. We'll see what the week holds. Intention is to again crack 40.0, including a 20 +/- over the weekend. Five weeks out from my MD marathon. Good luck in NY, CNY and Maine!

My biggest concern is that I have no desire to be out on the course for four hours plus.
Hey, there are those of us who do that on a regular basis......
Sorry Holly, I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone, least of all you since you put so much effort into this forum.
It's just me and my competitiveness...the one and only four hour plus marathon I've run has to be my most unenjoyable and knowing that I have sub 3:20 in me just makes a four hour mark very uninviting at least for me.

Maine .. Don't think any need to apologize ... None of us want to be on that course one second longer than we have to.
Heck I have not run less than 4:01 and i don't want to be out there more than 3:45 so can't blame you.
Recovery week for me, free pass needed.

Mainrunnah - no offense taken - I was just teasin' ya. I knew what you meant....
Runhikebird - wow - that is a LONG time to be out there.
Holly - not much of a showing last week ... 25.6 total.
Soccer coaching; crappy weather; and a week's worth of NY / Philly sports [I am from NY and DW is from Philly] kept my rear glued to the couch. I have a 15k in 2-weeks so I am going to try to get some consistent mileage between now and then.
2012= under-goaled
