The Jogger

Morning Gang Just did a cracking little 3 miler, fairly windy out there so fresh. Where's Deb's haven't seen her about for a while? Anyway: 3m 30:01 @ 10:01 pace AHR 146 67% Good Runs All Roy PS: Tall, I remember when you overtrained a couple of years ago, you very kindly warned us all about overtraining and put up the symptoms of what to expect if we did.
Good morning. Nice running weather here this morning: 42F and just a light breeze. Quite pleasant actually. 9.0 miles in 1:30:45, 10:05 pace. I tried to steam up (and down) the steepest hill, with Boston on my mind.

Good morning! Roy, every time you say "cracking", it reminds me of a particular goal I made (indoor soccer). I kicked the ball on the volley, and one of my British teammates said "cracking goal you scored" later, which made me feel good. I was a defender, so the number of goals I made in my 14 years of indoor was less than a score (no pun intended). Quite pleasant this morning, as my DW has said. I ran an easy 7 miler this morning. Workout: 6.1 miles, 8:21/mi, AHR 147 Overall: 7.1 miles, 59:21 Good runs!

Good morning Roy and WRFB and everyone else... Had a nice 10.5 miler last night just holding a 9:00 minute steady pace the whole time keeping my HR around 135. I ran a different route than I ever have before just to mix it up a little. I ran to my old high school track which was a little over 4 miles away, than ran a couple of miles to make sure my foot pod was collaborated right, than back home. I really wasn't planning on that long of a run, but really didn't know for sure how far the school was till I ran there....nice run and nice temps in the 40"s. Thanks to Carolyn and Bob for helping me figuring out kilometers to miles ratio....I took Carolyn's advice and ran 5 laps and 38 feet which collaborated my foot pod exactly to 2k to 1 mile. Last night on the track, when I reached the start finish line on mile 1 and 2 my distances were absolutely perfect....Bob had me running 20 laps - 150 feet, but thought I would probably lose track of laps at some point Confused...thanks to both of you. Hope all have a wonderful "hump day" and good runs and workouts. At work really early this morning, and have a huge day ahead of me, and look forward to a nice stress relieving run tonight...and suppose to be sunny and in the 50's Smile Smile Tim

Running has given me the courage to start, the determination to keep trying, and the childlike spirit to have fun along the way - Run often and run long, but never outrun your Joy of running!

Good Wednesday Morning!! 5:15 a.m. - 28 degrees - no wind - clear skies AND dry roads!!! Smile 5.25 miles at 10: 22 pace - avg. HR 163. I was only going to do 4, then thought maybe 4.5 and then well, what the heck - I just kept going. At one point I had an odd out-of body experience. I was just running along on the road leading to my house and it all seemed so different. Quiet, dark, sort of spooky and I actually had to think to myself "where am I?" I guess I must have been in that place they call the "zone". Last night DD#2 asked me to go to the gym with her and I was more than happy to join her. 2 miles on the elliptical and 30 reps of all the upper body machines, including 75 on the tummy crunch machine. "Cracking" run there Roy! Are you enjoyig your new 305? Tim - super work out last night! I think it helps to mix up the routes once in a while. Cheers! ~Mary

Good luck on the house thing... when we bought ours the goal was to be all moved in before DS1 was born. Well, numerous delays with the closing... we moved in when he was a week old. The one advantage to that is I got to play director on the moving process... let others to the heavy work!
Erika - DH and I moved from California to Ohio when I was 7 months pregnant with DS, everything we owned stacked in the back of an old pick-up truck like the Beverly Hillbillies. We stayed at my dad’s while DH found a job, and got an apartment with the move-in date of Feb 1. DS was born Jan 31 – 23 days early, so DH did the moving all himself. Of course, there wasn’t a lot to move in those days. 7.5 recovery paced miles for me today (ave pace 10:24, ave HR 130) in 32 degrees. Happy Wednesday!

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Good morning Boomers. Cross training day today. 5.5 miles on the eliptical trainer in 45:00 with some leg and ab work. Went to buy some new bluejeans yesterday and was distressed to find out I am now wearing a size up from the last pair I bought. Sad Go figure - work out 6 days a week and gain weight. I think I need to meet with Holly's doctor too. Nice runs WRFB, PDF, Mary, Roy, Tim and Holly. Looking forward to getting a short run in some warmer weather after work today. Did everyone see that Mary Ann from Gilligan's Island got busted for pot? Her police picture looks like she's high on something! I guess you're never too old to have fun. Good Wednesday runs, everyone Jeanne
Great running everyone. No running for me but I did do some light weights and stretching this morning. Now it's off to work. Picking up my lady friend and her two children as they arrrive from Florida tonight. Very excited to see her and them. Looking forward to our Satruday morning race (our first ever together) and our date that night... Take care Tall Today's Saying: Let Others have the Glory

Standard workout at the gym this morning followed by a mile on the TM. I didn't have time for much more than that but I wanted to give my body an idea of what it feels like to run when you're tired.

Good morning, all! Roy - nice cracking run to kick us off. Hope you are enjoying the new 305. Tim - good long run - I'll be curious to see if the accuracy if you footpod continues. Jeanne - I didn't see the news about Mary Ann getting busted. She did several local fund raisers for various charities when I lived in Missouri. Non-running day for me. I feel great after a good night's sleep - amazing what rest will do for you. Core and weights scheduled for noon today. Jesse "graduates" from her obedience class tonight and goes in to be spayed tomorrow morning. That should slow her down for a few days. Good runs to all!

It’s Wednesday, so that means big workout day. 16 miles total—including wu then 4x25 minutes at 7:45 pace and then cool down in the distance remaining to my house. There are steep hills in the last 4 miles---getting at that "run hard while tired" monster. I run this on a favorite loop and know the distance markers. My watch had me at 7:43, 7:46, 7:44, 7:40- ish (screwed up my watch a bit). The whole deal in 2:13---faster than last week. I ran at 6:00 AM in 30-34F temps and light rain. The potholes are massive, but I was nimble today. Roy, can I call this cracking? I love that term! I am totally tired now, but happy. I sometimes train better and faster than I race and need to hold it here for the next weeks. The temptation to blast is great and yet I know better! (Well, I hope so) I am off this afternoon with the sixth grade at my son’s school. We are going to the Museum of Science in Boston for a camp-in field trip. The main exhibits are all about lightning and electricity and that lines up with what they are studying in school. It will be interesting! I’ll do my best not to embarrass my kiddo too badly. The Museum of Science is incredible and the museum president is an energetic leader. The foot traffic there is impressive, especially for a city full of museums and aquariums and the like. We arrive at 5 PM---dinner at the Museum, tour exhibits, see the planetarium and then lights out at 11 PM (AcK!) and then a full morning of science experiments on Thursday. Lunch at Faneuil Hall and then back on the busses. No running along the Charles, but plenty of activity I am sure! I’ll hit the roads again Thursday afternoon and will need the airing out so to speak. Happy Wednesday to all! I am always happy to let others have the glory. Good suggestion. Oh no! Some new fodder for the age-old guys' dilemma of "Mary Ann or Ginger?". Wink Roy: We won't know for sure that you're using your 305 until you start reporting your distances to a couple of decimal places. Lou: I think the pun was intended, don't you? CNY: I fondly remember doing those museum sleepovers with my DS -- some of our best times together. I especially remember one in a science museum in Lansing where some kids were spooked by the bats flying around in the sleepover area in the basement, and the weirdo supervisor telling us "Don't worry -- they're all inoculated." Roll eyes Saw the sports med doctor yesterday and really liked the guy. He couldn't pinpoint the problem, but I'll be going in for some P.T. starting next week. (By the way, it might be a sign of the economic times that I could call a specialist like that at 10 in the morning and get a same-day appointment. In general, I've noticed doctors' waiting rooms are a lot emptier the last year or so since so many around here have lost jobs and/or their free/cheap medical coverage.)

CNY, I see that you do that workout from time to time and it's a very strong one. Good for you. Roy, how you feeling? Everything back to normal? No workout for me. I'm on Bainbrdige Island, off Seattle. Came in here from Chicago last night, a very scenic 30 minute ferry ride out here. It was dark so I couldn't see much. I have a full day of work today and tomorrow morning will make a two-hour presentation on my findings, so I have to write that tonight. But I have an early flight out tomorrow and then home a few days. Was that Mary Ann or Mary Jane? Spareribs
CNYrunner nice workout! I heard the news about "Mary Ann" and sort of laughed. Nothing like a bunch of flower children now a few years from old age still indulging in their favorite pastime! My guess is that we will see a lot more busts like this as the years go by. My senior year of high school, 1978, has the honor of being the year when the greatest percentage of the teenage population is estimated to have smoked pot. Party on! Evil grin Giving my calf yesterday off was clearly the right call. It felt fine this morning when I did my stretches. I went off to meet my TP and alas it was not 100% on the road. But still better. I ran 3 to our meeting place, then 12 with her and three back home. Total of 18.36 miles altogether. Back at home it was time for every runner's favorite home remedy: ice packs and Ibuprofen. Smile Have a good day everyone.
