Marathon Maniac #957
For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for people who are over 40 years old who run 40 miles/week or more. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard...
Here’s what I have for last week's tally. Let me know if I missed you.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
Thanks for keeping us on task and amidst all that's on your plate...even more impressive
Work travel is heating up so if I put this up now, I'll be more likely to stay on track (no pun intended)

hmmm I guess I should join in here. Last week was actually under 40 but I have been getting more consistent again. I'm bad about writing down a plan usually, I have a vague notion, but not a plan right now

Looks like I wont get to 40 this summer, Kid's swim meets and hot weather are consipiring to keep me from getting there. Maybe if I hadn't run a race this week, but then that would not be as fun.
Just a dude.
Doubt I'll post next week... no sense putting a bunch of nothing up... maybe when I can get back close to 40...
Sorry...

Getting back in shape... Just need it to be a skinnier shape...
Thanks Holly - My week as follows:
M - 8.4m [6 miles med / 6 x 1 min hill repeats / CD]
T - 5.71m easy
Wed 10.61m [4 w/u; 8 x 600 as 400 at 5k then 200 hard for 600 total with 500 recovery; 1m c/d] + first trip to the "new" Yankees Stadium [Phillies vs Yanks - Phils win -- my Philadelphia wife and kids were happy -- not so much for me. Even though I am a Yankee fan ... I like the Philly stadium better.]
Th - sleep in
Fri - 13.5m [I suck at holding a consistent pace -- my mind wonders -- I speed up... I slow down-- oh well - felt good]
Sat - 5.1m
Sun -- 5.5m [4.5 with my daughter pacing on here bike -- that was fun -- including 6 x hill strides]
Total = 48.5m total
8k next weekend
2012= under-goaled
Thank you Holly for another week of managing this thread.

Didn't hit the mileage goal, but passed the 1000 milestone and nailed the first post-race long run.
Thanks for starting the thread, Holly. I've watched but haven't been able to participate until now. I'm going to sneak in here as I head into my third week of Pfitz's 18/55 program:

Thanks Holly.
I've signed up for the Baystate Marathon in October, guess I'd better start training for it.

Hi all. Just thought I would check in here. I went from cutting back on running to not running altogether. My hamstring (yes, now I believe it is the hamstring and not glutes or back that is the root cause) was just not healing even cutting back. So after a few days of feeling sorry for myself I am doing an hour of yoga every day. I had thought about mixing in some biking, but am not at the moment because I really want to use this down time to work on my core strength and flexibility. Maybe I'll do some biking on weekends if I have time.
I have no time table for when I will be back running again. The hamstring is still sore and tight .... I have a feeling that it may be a while. But I do plan on being back here posting on this thread at some point. Until then, happy running everyone.
Not at it at all.

Runners run
40.25 miles with nice intervals on Thursday and a solid 15.75 mile MLR (9:06 pace) on Saturday. I definitely need a Free Pass next week. I'm going to take a cutback week - actually almost a week off. I need a break.
