Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Thanks Holly,
Your life seems to be a tad bit busy right now. Remember family is first, then work then running. If you feel tired cut the run short. Running tired only increases the chances of injury and/or illness. Smart plan on the family's dinners.
Well, its the first full week of 2010. The training continues.
Mon: 6 miles - 7.0 miles at a nice slow recovery pace (8:27 m/m) legs are feeling pretty good and tummy is much better.
Tues: 8 miles with 10x strides - 9.0 miles (8:09 pace) including 10 x 30 sec strides (6:30 pace), legs felt light and quick.
Wed: 13 miles - 14.0 miles including 10.5 miles (7:38 pace). most excellent run, though about mile 9 had a little intestinal troubles that a bathroom fixed up. Glad I was on the TM at home.
Thurs: 6 miles - 7.0 miles recovery (8:32 pace), tonights HR was the lowest in a long time Ave HR 124, Max HR 133. felt very easy.
Fri: 11 miles - 6.0 miles (8:19 pace), cut run short as legs felt flat and dead. probably more due to a lack of motivation.
Sat: 6 miles - 12 miles (8:06 pace), feeling much better this morning, nice aerobic paced run.
Sun: 17 miles with 8 @ MP - 18.0 miles including 14 miles @ MP (7:27 ave pace). did 2 mile wu, 4 x 2 miles (7:15 pace) with 6 x 1 miles interval (7:40 pace). pace felt much better than I thought it was going to be. legs had alot left at the end.
total: 73.0 miles

You hit the nail on the head Holly, I was on vacation during the holidays...first time in a long time I had two weeks in a row off. But why is it that when I take vacation I always find it harder to post my runs???
Well let's see if I can get back on track with my posts here anyways, plus I had to start back up at Week 5 of my challenge as I just couldn't keep up with that during the holidays.
This weeks will be tough to sqeeze my runs in as I have EMT re-certification Tuesday and Wednesday night and then all day Saturday and Sunday....is it Monday yet?
Oh yeah Happy New Year everyone!

Thanks Holly - Looks like my plans for the Spring are the NYC 1/2 in March [which I found out about Friday] ... should be a nice redemption run after the blow-up during that race in Aug ... then onto the NJ Marathon in May. [I have done the 1/2 there for the past 3-years so I know the course ... I am coming out of the closet now and committing the NJ Marathon to a legit BQ attempt [3:20 for me.] I have 17-18 weeks and ran my first long this week since an Oct Marathon.
Anyway - this week as follows:
m - 6.1
t - 6.5
wed - 7.2
Th - off
Fri - 12
Sat - 7.6
Sun - 6.1
Total = 46.0 miles
2012= under-goaled
M - rest day
T - 1.2 treadmill miles
W - 2.4 treadmill miles
Th - rest day
F - rest day
Sa - 5.2 easy miles
Su - 8.0 easy miles

Not much to reports as another 25 mile week
May be March before get back to 40 MPW, but would like 30 - 35, but the 2 feet of snow and temps in teens makes it hard .... Poor ME!!! I Tip my hat to the cold weather warriors banging big miles.
I really hate the treadmill so try a mixture of treadmill, indoor track (1/16 mi and its about as bad as TM) and outdoor running when can get out mid day. The Sun was actually out so the 20 temp with 10 windchill did not seem that bad.
Nice on saturday to get out on a bike path that the city plows to avoid the cars, don't trust them in ideal conditions. Trying to make up with some extra cross training and weights, which in long run might not be bad to switch things up a bit, but can feel myself getting SLOWER!
"It's supposed to be hard. If it wasn't hard, everyone would do it. The hard... is what makes it Great!
