Mr. Chip & Mizz Rizzo

    Good morning!!

Scheduled rest day for me.   I did lay my clothes out in case I woke up naturally, as I figured I'd go out for a short run....but that did not happen.   The last few days my upper arms and chest have been sore and I couldn't figure out why.  I knew just my meesly pushups weren't causing that effect.   Then, last night as I was unloading and tossing 100, approximatley 28 per pound, landscaping blocks it dawned on me!   I had done this Monday night too - but only 50 as DH was helping me.      I see many more of these cross training workouts in my near future.   Also this weekend DD and I will be tossing a few yards of shredded bark.

I have to take same DD to the specialist today for a biopsy.   For a young female (22) this is her 2nd time with abnormal paps and biopsies.   She puts on a good show of toughness, but I know she worries .... as does her mom of course.

Hallar - your post last night brought tears to my eyes.

    Erika - you did great!!

     That's my vote on oysters.

Have a great day everyone.  Big grin

Resting my legs today for a 20k jog tomorrow down in Frankenmuth (Michigan).  I did some push-ups.  I've been working for 13 months on a 6-week program to make it to 100 push-ups.   On Monday, after 3 months of trying, I finished the last workout in week 5, so I started week 6 on Wednesday.  (I try to do these Mon-Wed-Fri.)    I think another year or so and I will make it to 100.  Never give up, never surrender.

      Trails are hard!

Nice brick tossing, Mary--don't know why that would cause any unknown soreness   Good thoughts to you and DD.

Dave--You win the morning persistence award.  Sounds sort of like our 5 year plan for our house--now going on 28 years and counting

30 minutes on the elliptical this morning.  At some point Wed morning I realized that it hurt to walk.  A sore spot on the outside center of my left foot hurts to walk, but I can't really find a sore spot by probing by hand.   Can't imagine that it's anything to do with Saturday's run--figure it would have shown up before 4 days after.

happy Friday for a long weekend to all.  Got ot figure out something Red, white and blue to wear on Sunday's run.

Need a fast half for late fall.  Then I need to actually train for it.

          ...stumpy//...........two words:

          ''MoleFoam''....

....if you can't figure out why it hurts, Pad It.........

          ============

...unfortunately, that doesn't work so well with hips.....

.........25min poolrun with straight leg move.........VERY much tougher.

I was thinking ''gee, this is a really tough work-out''

          suddenly

           the claxton sounded General Quarters

          and

           a voice

           inside my head yelled

''get out of the pool NOW''

I hate it when that happens.

          hobbled around

using my crutches when I got up this morning,

''Quad Tear'' Pain eased up about 30-min later.

          it WAS

           a tough work-out

I just need to  throw in some bent knee moves to let off the strain.

          this Old Age Stuff sucks

and I'm getting WAY too good at knowing what to do.

..........................good running guys................unless you get paid for it, don't run thru pain........

..nothing takes the place of persistence.....

Starting over again...gained a lot of weight in the last 6 months...2 mile walk and run with a 1 mile walk after...yep, just as hard as I remember 5 years ago when I started running.

               it is not intentional.

              It's just what's happening.

I sound pretty damn whine-y sometimes.

TomS and Halllar – I was really touched by both of your posts yesterday about your parents – beautiful...

Erika – congratulations on your new 1-mile PR!  But I think you do have an even faster 1-mile time in you.

                  {{{Healing vibes to Mary’s DD}}}

Dave59 – 100 at a time?  Or do you break them into sets?

{{{TomWhite’s quads}}} – we don't care if you cross that line.....btw, I have some extra padding on my hips if you want it...

                  GORDON!!!  Hiyah!!

3.65 recovery miles for me today, followed by dumbbell presses, flies, lying hammer curls, push-ups, superman lifts, chin-ups (2+2+2) and stability ball core work.

Right after work I will be scooping up DD and four little girls to take to the pool for a couple hours.  DH is bringing pizza there for us.  The tent is set up in our family room with flashlights and a battery-operated lantern.   A basket of nail polish is ready for the mass manicure event.  We have movies and 7 episodes of Big Time Rush on the DVR, and, of course, cake and ice cream.  (deep breath)  I think I’m ready.

                  Happy Friday!

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

                    Hey all

You guys have been getting in some pretty good runs over the last few days. Me....no so much. I've been logging zero's here and there.....my long run isn't really a long run.......My schedule is just crazy. Normally stuff like this bothers me.....especially with a fall marathon on the schedule......

Has anyone heard from Jlynne......how is she doing ?  Is she still on for the Twin Cities or has she backed out ?

                    Welcome back Lyndenrunner.

                    0 miles this am......I doubt I'll RAW.

Holly......Maybe you should have saved those recovery miles for tomorrow !

With all the periods, slashes, and equal signs in your posts I would never notice when you cross the line.   I'm just happy you're still at and still posting with what you have to go through.

Holly......Maybe you should have saved those recovery miles for tomorrow !

Tomorrow is strictly a garage TM run, since I promised DH I will not leave him alone in the house with the 8yo invasion...

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Finally out of Afghanistan, and I'm in Kuwait for a week before heading home.   I'm finding that no matter where you run on a treadmill you always end up where you started.

I had a little time disorientation today as I was hurrying to get in a 10 miler before I could eat lunch and be where I hat to be at 1pm.  So I rush to the gym, rush through 9 miles and realize I just don't have the time to do another mile.  I rush to the showers then to the Dinning Facility where I find it empty and not serving lunch.  So I'm looking at the guy at the counter and asking him when they start serving and he says at 11.  My watch says 1145....???  It finally comes to me  !  I felt a little silly and then a little disappointed that I didn't run that extra mile.  I've heard there's not much traffic on it....I'm just saying...

Hope everyone has or had a great run...

                          take care,

                          Karl

                          Dave59

Dave59 – 100 at a time?  Or do you break them into sets?

The ultimate goal is 100 at one time.  Someone pointed me to http://hundredpushups.com/ back in May 2009 and I started fooling around with it.  After a couple months I deemed it ridiculous and quit, but in December I started again.  I'm not much of a cross trainer so this gives me something to mess around with.  I'm up over 50 now in one shot and I'm happy with that.  I still don't know if 100 is ever going to be possible.  Right now I have my sights set on 70.

Holly - Sounds like you're very prepared. And it's very nice of you to look out for your hubby during the 8 yo invasion. It does seem that when girls that age get together, they reach levels of volume and pitch that are painful on the over-40 ear. There's definitely a synergistic effect.

Finally got a workout in today after 2 days off. Standing shoulder presses, pull-ups and weighted dips. Each week I've tried to increase the pull-ups I can do. I got 10 in the first set - 3 weeks in a row of adding reps. Happy happy. I then hung 15 lbs from my waist and did a couple sets of 2 reps. I did the weighted dips with 25 lbs from the waist. I then ran an easy 4.2 miles at 8:20 pace or so. It was a bit faster due to the 2 days off I think.

I also had my second weigh-in at the Y's weight loss challenge. 162.2 lbs. Down from 165.4 last week. 3.2 lbs lost. That's probably why I've felt a little beat up and tired this week. At my weight, I really shouldn't lose over 3lbs in one week. The 5 days of landscaping was punishing. Oh well, the BBQ, potato salad, cole slaw, beer and touch of bourbon this weekend should fix that right up.

Preparing for the big July 4th party this Sunday. finishing yard work and buying the brisket, turkey, burgers and dogs. Also taking my 2 oldest DDs to the Pawtucket Red Sox tomorrow night  - there's a big fireworks show after the game. Should be a fun weekend.

                              Happy 4th to you all!!!
