I have not posted much lately, but I lurk. I have decided when I grow up I want to be Warden. You have more awesome times than any 10 people I know!

I have been out running and hiking lots. Too much hiking. I am just out of sync with running. Going to doc later in month to have blood work done.

    Faster Than Your Couch!

      Good Morning,

Everybody welcome to the new "falling apart" club, as founded by Sandy yesterday.

Moonlight, we should have called this the "blood work Tuesdaily" thread. I just got my blood work done, too.

No run today, bronchitis and cough are getting stronger by the day. Not sure where this is heading.

      Run for fun.

      XtremeTaper

7 miles last night on the trails of Green Lane with the Lady. Blue bells were still out and very thick in certain patches. I was having a pretty decent run so played the "break 70 game", trying to get under 70 minutes for the route. I missed it by 15 seconds, but had some real decent tempo effort on the return trip. I think I would have made it if the Lady hadn't been so putzy. Best run for me in awhile. I have not managed to find second or third gear in quite some time.

Not sure of run today. Looks like the lawn needs mowing and I have a massive amount of canna bulbs to plant.

QOTD: Last blood work was in January. Just basic panel stuff. My cholesterol is border line high but dropped from prior reading as I am an ice cream sabbatical. Sometimes I think I just need to take the blue pill and go back to indulging.

Moon - Hope you find some running mojo but at least you are out there enjoying life.

Couch - Sorry about the crud. I went through something similar a few months ago.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

        running under the BigSky

4 miles with Tiny Elvis yesterday evening; when I got to the trailhead I found out my DW had taken his leash out of the vehicle. He’s seldom on the leash, but I leave it on him dragging so I can grab it if we meet someone- especially with someone with a large dog. Soooo I picked a seldom used trail- goes straight up. I was thinking that it would be a shorter hike, up and then down, but found a faint trail that lead to the other side of the mountain. Found a couple of more faint trails and was able to make a decent loop out of it

          strength training this evening

moonlight- I do try to make fun a priority!

does seem like we have an inordinate of down turns amongst the group, hopefully the trend is short lived

qotd: it’s been a couple of years since I’ve had my blood drawn, but knock on wood- cholesterol and triglycerides are low and everything else is where it should be

Just returned from 5.5 miles which was mostly a track workout with a friend. Holy cow, the pollen count is high this morning. I don't have allergies, but  by the end the air felt too thick to breathe. It's been a bad season in these parts. Even those without allergies are being affected.

Moonlight-- I've been running less too, and hiking more. It's spring out in the woods, slowing down to enjoy it is good, IMO.

FYTC- Hope you're feeling better soon.

XT- Nice run! and good luck with the cannas. I left mine in the ground and I think only one small tuber survived.

qotd: I had bloodwork done last fall as part of a NIH vaccine study in which I'm participating. it was fine.

Getting ready to head out for a bike ride with DW, planning on 33 miles give or take a few tenths. Might do a short jog later tonight or just strength train.

My bluebirds showed up this morning and were working at their house. Should be babies being incubated in a little while. Just don't ask me how I know or what I saw .

QOTD:  I get blood work drawn every two years and only because I have to for my CDL physical.  Cholesterol is a little high but I went off the Statins about 2 years ago. That crap was driving my blood sugar high and giving me some serious depression.  Little evidence that taking them really helps very much anyway. Really need to go in to see the doctor sometime to see whats wrong in my head .  Too many headaches. Probably sinuses but ya never know.

moonlight - Good to hear you're still getting out there and hanging around here.  And I agree with you regarding warden.

FTYC - Hope you get better soon and it's not something else!

XT - Nice run.  That's a good pace on trail for that duration.

warden - Cool you can still find new trails where you are.  Hope Tiny E doesn't latch onto his new found freedom.

runtrail - When I was in Algonkian Park last week, everything was in full bloom.  I felt the increased humidity as well.

                Daydreamer - Enjoy that ride!

I'll go out for an easy 4 on trail tonight.  Working on my list of things to bring to Montour.  List is up to 68 items.

Late QOTD:  Almost 2 years ago.  I'm not a zombie, so I guess that's good.

                Thread killer ..

I'll join that "Falling Apart Club ' , it looks like good company . My knee is still sore I think I'll give it some more time to calm down . It hasn't kept me from trolling Ultra Signup for a July race . Mine is a chronic old injury , the knee is toast and my only option is suck it up or replace it , I suck it up .

QOTD: It's been several years . I just had blood work done on 3 of my horses , 2 of them get it done 2x year .

Couch I hope you feel better soon .

Part of my  extended hiking is exactly that. I love taking pictures and looking closely at all the shades of green in the woods. Spring is really fleeting and special. Restoration from winter and preparation for the full glory of summer. I was out for 5 hours Sunday and enjoyed every minute.

                    running under the BigSky

my mileage has been dominated by hiking, used to be the other way around- while I’ve seen some decrease in my running ability (not that great to begin with mind you), not as much as one would think

                      Tim

Ran 4 miles on the XC ski trails. It's always a slow run because it covered with roots and you have to watch closely.  Today was no exception.

My pool is clear and blue now, so come on over. Water is 60 degrees, so perfect.

Moon - glad you are getting out. How's that Old Lady doing?

FTYC - hope you feel better soon. That crud is going around thee parts as well.

XT - nice run yesterday. Stay off the meds, if you are borderline and exercise, you're fine.  Too many of us docs push the meds to make us feel better (it's called giving your patients Harvard Numbers), but if BP or cholesterol are only controlled by chemistry and you don't change other risk factors like weight, smoking, exercise, then you've done 0% to improve chances of having complications.  Only the US pushes meds for controlling numbers, and we have poor health compared to rest of the world.

Warden - I always love finding ways to link trails for a new loop.

DC - Any Cap's fans going crazy today down there.  When DC area teams win, the area always tends to have a lot of people jumping on the bandwagon.  I'm sure people that never watch hockey are saying "I love the Cap's".

Dreamer - watching that bird porn again? You packing yet for weekend?

Bert - Nice you are practicing the 5P's of racing - Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance. I predict you'll hit your goal. You are more than ready.

Valerie - Hope knee cooperates soon. Love that pic you posted John M's page. Definitely something he would have loved.

Can I join the falling apart club?  I feel like I've been a premium member for the past 6 years or so.

QOTD: Hmmmm, last blood work was probably when I was having low ferritin issues.  I'm due to get tested again.

                          Running is dumb.

Did a flat 5 mi 'city run' this morning.  For some strange reason my right knee was having some niggles this morning.  Same leg as the hip and hamstring issues, so of course it's all connected.  I'm sure that I have been compensating.  The good thing was my knee was distracting me so my hip and hamstring felt fine today.

Everyone is most welcome in on the pity party that is the "Falling Apart Club", but I really hope that no one else joins and the current members quit soon.

qotd: I had blood work done about 2+ years ago, no worries (knocks on wood).
