Finally Friday (Read 20 times)

LB2

I'll get another 6.5 after work today. Yesterday's run was pretty easy but kept a pretty even 9 minute pace through the woods. I liked it.

QOTD: What is the latest piece of running gear you have purchased or received? And does getting something new motivate you?

Sort of a lame question, I guess. However, I am excited about my new watch I ordered yesterday. It isn't anything special, but my Ironman from like '02 died about a week before the Cottonmouth race way back in November of 2015. I just grabbed a super cheapo Timex Marathon at Walmart on a whim. It sucked. But, I didn't race or train for anything last year and never bothered getting another watch. But it bothered me that I couldn't do anything with splits with that Marathon. Anyway, it totally died Monday, and I have felt naked without a watch. I ordered another Ironman yesterday on Amazon for 29 bucks. It has the 30 lap split thing on it. Getting something as insignificant as a 30 dollar watch that has splits renews my motivation for running.

Got in 5.8 miles yesterday and 10 hours "cross training" at work shoveling snow.

QOTD I was excited to get 3 new pairs of socks with a  runners warehouse gift card I got for Chrismas!

Good morning. Just the gym last night, plan to run a few miles later today with the Lady on the lightly snow covered trails. Short sleeve running weather for me next 2 weeks in FL, including 12 hour run.

QOTD: Last gear I bought was shoes. Lone Peak, and Olympus. I like the new Olympus as a secondary shoe, but the Lone Peaks are still my go to shoe.

LB2 - My Ironman watches last forever. I did throw out one that was 7 or 8 years old because the strap broke. I just replace the battery maybe every 3 years or so.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

No run today. Working 1/2 day and heading to Chincoteague Island. Have to pain a bathroom and fix a few dents in the walls and will do a long run tomorrow.

LB - My Indiglo light went out on my Ironman watch after 5 years, so time for another one. Everything else still woks, but I like to know what time it is during he night. Also face is pretty scratched up from wearing it 24/7. Enjoy your new watch.

QOTD:  New tights from Under Armour outlet. They were on discount the rack at $15, and I love them. They are in my bag packed for the weekend. Went back to get another pair and they were all gone. I should have bought 3 pairs.

          “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

I never changed the battery in that watch. I had it for like 13 years. I went through two straps.

I got up an bailed water out of the basement..no run.  Last day of rain for a few days.  Yea   Gym at lunch.

QOTD:  Some tights and I would have to say it doesn't really motivate me.  LB I think my last watch motivated me.  Excited and motivated are two different things for me.  I always get excited when I get new things...  pair of shoes should arrive any day now.

Finally ran in the woods friday for me.  Just 4 hilly miles, but it was a beautiful day out there. Took a hard fall tripping on a lone rock in the midst of a wide smooth trail and I blame it on the new Saucony Peregrines. Not sure about the toe box on these, specifically on the right foot. Which of course, was the foot that caught the rock.  I do really like the grippy treads, especially moving into mud season.

qotd: See above.  I almost bought the new cascadias bc they felt 'okay- definitely better than the last several versions' but then tried on the peregrines and went that route.  I like them, just think the toebox might be a little too wide for my special snowflake feet.

I am a fan of Peregrines. I have a green and black pair that have now been converted to turkey hunting shoes. The toebox looks very narrow, but it is actually quite roomy. I don't understand it. I like the 4mm drop, too.

                    running under the BigSky

my running is on hold until I get over this cold

sadly it looks like I'll be donating the rental $ for the Forest Service cabin I reserved this weekend, it's about a 7 foot ski in and don't see that happening

qotd: nothing motivating of late; have been stocking up on Pearl N3's that I find on sale; it was probably a false rumor they were going to quit making running shoes

Just got back from the gym.  The lifting sucked. Just couldn't get into it and didn't feel strong. Probably had something to do with recovery. The last time I was there was Wednesday and it should have been Tuesday.  Just gave up with the lifting and headed over to the treadmills. Got in a really nice run. So nice that I'm wondering if the TM is calibrated properly.  Did 4.1 miles in 35 minutes and did a long warm up and cool down so there were times I was cruising at < 7 minute miles which is fast for me.

QOTD: Polar M400 HR monitor. I chose that because of the chest strap for the heart rate monitor. It also has an accelerometer, GPS and monitors your sleep patterns. I wore it for the entire month of January. I like tracking data even if I do nothing with it .  Found that I really missed my HR monitor and I really do think it makes me a better runner. I really suck at running/biking by perceived effort. I always think I'm working harder than I really am.

I hurt my back.  Don't know how but it hurts like a mutha... My streak may be in jeopardy.  I may try and run a mile tonight just to see if it's doable.  Probably not worth it though.

QOTD: I haven't bought anything running related in a while....

Last week was my first week back into things and overall it went well running 4x. This week it looks like I'll run 6 days. So far, so good. Did get official clearance from my specialist yesterday with the obligatory cautions which I am well aware of, the main thing being to watch and control my pace and stride on my uphills. About to head out for a somewhat flat run on a paved bike trail of 5 or so.

QOTD-Bought a new Casio SGW 100 watch. My last 2 Timex watches woefully fell short of expectations and developed glitches so I am trying this Casio which seems to be more user friendly with all the features we want plus it has a compass which seems to be real accurate and only cost $39 on Amazon. The other purchase was another running pack- Osprey which I got a real sweet sale price on. I needed another pack like I need a hole in the head but I couldn't help myself.  Now if I could just find some young, fresh legs.
