5 to 6 this morning and 10 tomorrow.
QOTD: What is your typical weekday like?
I was reading an older issue of RW last night and came across these pieces on individual runners and how they fit running into their lives. I can't believe how late some of these people stay up. Typically may week day is as follows:
1. Wake up at 4
2. Drink a cup of coffee
3. Run by 4:45
4. Back home by 5:30
5. Cook breakfast
6. Get kids up to eat
7. Take shower
8. At work by 7:30
9. Off at 4
10. Do whatever needs doing around the house or may run again
11. In bed by 9
LB2
Snowed in today. Six inches and still falling.
qotd I usually run at 6:40 am so I can catch the sunrise on the east side of mt.
Planning to do 10 today, 12 tomorrow. It just started snowing and we're expecting to get 2-4" today, so we'll see whether I run outside or in.
QOTD: similar to LB2, but shifted 2 hours later. Go to bed at 10:30-11. 2-3 days a week I'll run in the morning, between 5:45 and 7, and 2-3 days I'll run at lunchtime. Either way, leave for work at 7:30, back home at 6:30-7:00.
I need to run either today or tomorrow and it looks like today is the warmer and calmer day so I'll probably head out for 5-6 miles in a little bit. Temps will be in the low 20s with a stiff breeze. Certainly nothing like Warden is dealing with but since I'm not acclimated it will feel cold. Tomorrow is supposed to be colder with a higher wind.
QOTD: Oh lordy how do I start to describe a typical day when none exist for me? Lets try this coming week.
Monday: Up at 5, go to work. Start at 7am get off at 7am Tuesday.
Tuesday: Get off work at 7 am go home take nap. Get up sometime between 12 - 2. After waking up go to gym or run.
Wed: Go to bed at midnight. Get up when I feel rested, probably 8-930 am. Run in afternoon. Go to bed at 11pm. Do a few hours of QA/QI for work at some point in there.
Thursday: Up at 7-8am. Exercise of some sort during the day when I get the energy. Run errands and work around the house. More QA/QI for work. Need to do four hours a week. Go to bed 10-midnight or whenever I can sleep.
Friday: Get up 7-8 am. Go to gym. Go to work for 7 pm.
Saturday: Get off at 7 am, come home go to bed. Get up 12-3 pm and workout. Go back to work for 7 pm...........or maybe not, as I might be doing a 24 hour shift on Sunday which means I'll be off tonight. If off go to bed at midnight.
Sunday: Get off work at 7 am or come into work at 7 am, I don't know I'm confused, my body is confused, my mind is confused and my phone is confused and tired of me checking my calendar all the time . If getting off at 7 am it will be a repeat of Saturday. Go home sleep, get up workout go back to work.
Now that is just this coming week. The next week I may work.............Oh crap it's too difficult and long to explain .
And the next two weeks after that are complicated by me working a day each week at my part time jobs. Lets see, no meetings or anything else to change any of that.
I honestly don't know how you "normal" folks with a "regular" schedule cope . Haven't worked something like that in years, and years.

the weathermen are obviously full of shit- supposed to get into the mid teens today and at 11:00 AM it's -8- don't think it's going to warm up 25 degrees in that short of time I'll give it to 2:00 PM and see, but most likely the dreadmill- again. Supposed to be 20 tomorrow, again the likelihood of them getting it right seems damn slim
qotd:
M-F up at 5-ish- breakfast, coffee, dick around on computer; off to work at 7:30, get off work @ 4:30- either to the gym or change at work and hit the trails, 6-ish home DW has supper ready , we usually eat out or take out once or twice a week, I do the kitchen clean up, watch some tely/computer/read until 9-ish and then to bed
weekends- at some point we do our week's grocery shopping and usually a few chores (but not too many usually), will try and get a long run (or snowshoe/ski) in on Saturday, shorter run on Sunday (will flip flop those if weather is more advantageous on Sunday)

17* and a bit windy for our morning run on the AT and connecting trails. Was feeling really good and got to intersection to make sure DW was seeing where I was heading. DW was feeling good so we decided to go the long way. 2 minutes later and I hear a shreek as DW turns her ankle. Aftere a bit she could run some but slow going. I was freezing by the time we got back to car. I had dressed perfectly for running but not for walking after I had been sweating. She has a nice purple left ankle now but we got out safe and cold. Heading to a winery tonight, so that should help her.
QOTD: M W F I'm up at 7 and at work by 7:45. Work 8-1 and then 3-7 or so. Eat, some TV or chores and bed at 11with some reading until midnight. Tuesday and Thursday I run early in the morning and then do paper work or look at MRI's from home. Then work around the house or spend hours looking at internet porn.
“Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!
Hope Mrs AT's ankle is ok!
6 miles in an inch of fresh snow on the rail trail last night.
QOTD I get up at 6 o'clock, play on my phone for 10 minutes checking the news and the weather. Wash up, brush teeth and all that good stuff and leave for work by 6:30. Eat a banana and a peanut butter fiber bar on the way and get to work at 6:45. I work till 330 and usually run after work. When I am more motivated I will get up at 5:15 run to work ( they have showers, towels and a delicious chocolate mandarin orange body soap!) and back home for 13-14 miles. Usually in bed by 10 o'clock.
Are we there, yet?
5.6 miles on roads and paths with a light snow cover.
qotd: Wake up whenever, usually between 6 and 8 AM, have cereal with blueberries, and coffee. Check email, RA, RWOL, and FB for interesting posts or anything I might want to respond to. Play a few computer games, read, check to see if any movies or sports events are on TV that I want to watch. Run in the afternoon after lunch. 3-4 days a week work from 6-11 PM, come home check email, RA, RWOL, and FB again, read a little and go to bed. Weekends follow the same pattern.
2024 Races:

Ran 5 mi this evening. Ran with our DD's dog Josie. She pulled for the first mile or so, I was thinking that even dogs start out too fast!!! But once she settled down she was good.
qotd: if I run early I get up at 5am, if not I get up at 6am. Shower and stuff and leave for work at about 6:30, and start at 7:00. Eat yogurt and granola bar at desk. Off work at 4:00, but hardly ever leave right away. Run if I didn't run before work. Go to bed at 9:30 or 10. Read for awhile then conk out.
2/17/24 - Forgotten Florida 100 Mile, Christmas, FL
got 8 miles in on the treadmill yesterday- I think we made it to 5 tops (far cry from upper teens) yesterday; it's a 11:00 AM Sunday and 9 above so I don't think we're going to get to 23 like they said- be lucky to get to 15; if it climbs into the teens at all going to try and get a run in- we got more snow last night so it will be on snowshoes if I do
I'm beginning to appreciate what it would be like living in Siberia, of course I would never want to live in Siberia - beginning to think New Mexico or Northern Arizona is looking like a place more of my liking
4 more mi this morning, 25 deg, pretty cold for these parts. I didn't see any other runners. I think I would rather have these conditions for the Marathon instead of what they are forecasting for next weekend (55 - 65, rain and humid).
Did a gentle spinning session on the bike for 42 minutes then followed that up with 30 minutes on the elliptical. Temp is hovering around 18-19 which isn't so bad it's the wind gusting into the 20s. Highest that I seen was 29 MPH with a lot in the 20-25 range.
Glad I'm not playing football in this weather. Of course if I had the opportunity to get paid millions to do it I would.
A little over 5 more today to finish out the first week of January with a 30+ mile week. I haven't had too many of those in the last 12 months. So, we'll build from there. It really feels good to feel like a runner again.
