Faster Than Your Couch!

    Good Morning,

Slept in today because I spent the night at the ER of our hospital - my youngest DS woke up in the middle of the night with a bad bout of croup.

It was pretty scary, he could barely get enough air and was turning blue at times, which made him cry, which aggravated his condition. Vicious cycle. At first, I thought he had inhaled gum, or a small toy, and it might have gotten stuck, but when he started coughing ("barking"), I knew it was croup.

We tried calling 911, but couldn't get a cellphone signal (which sometimes happens in our home, depending on the weather, and which scares the heck out of me). So DH and I drove the gasping and wheezing kid to the hospital.

Fortunately, he was fixed up quickly, and by 4:30 we were home again. Almost time for an early run, but DH volunteered to do kids duty this morning, so I couldn't resist and went to bed again. Planning on a nice run later today.

QOTD: Do you have any special runs planned for the holidays?

Me: I'll try to pick up some of my favorite long runs in the area again. This means running trails that I haven't been on in a while, and doing some nice, extended loops.

    Run for fun.

    Occasional Runner

Good morning Couch. I hope the boy feels better soon.

I ran 6 miles this morning before the gym. My legs are feeling a bit fried right now so I may rest them a bit before the race this weekend. But its hard to walk outside and see the mountain mocking me back into my running shoes.

QOTD: I hope to get in some long runs on Skyline Drive. It runs along the crest of the Wasatch ~10,000' altitude.

      toyger

Morning all! I got in 4 miles this morning plus 1500 meters of swimming.

FTYC: how scary. Hope your boy is feeling better now.

lace_up: nice run! Skyline Drive in VA? This area is so pretty. I love the drive when I visit relatives in northwest VA.

QOTD: Not really. I'm visiting my mom for a week and will do some long runs over scary country roads, dodging cars and barking dogs. This will be the highlight.

        Jen

Went out for half an hour run this morning. It snowed on me a little, just to say hi, but we're not supposed to get much in the way of measurable snowfall before Thursday.

Faster: Scary! Glad your son is okay now.

lace_up: What race do you have this weekend?

          QOTD: Nope. Just regular runs.

Not Virginia. There's a Skyline Drive here in Utah too. But I have run the Virginia version too. In fact, my burial plot is on Skyline Drive in a small cemetery up there. The Appalachian Trail runs right next to my future grave site. I plan to sneak in some runs in the afterlife.

Lookout Mountian 50 miler in Chattanooga Tennessee.

Good morning everyone. I caved a week early and decided to run again. I couldn't take it. My mood has been awful the past three weeks. There is no amount of cross training in a gym that can relieve stress like a few miles on the trail. So with that...I ran 6 this morning on a mix of roads/trails before work. Felt great, 20 weeks until my first 100!

Couch- Glad everything turned out ok with your son. That is quite a scare.

Lace- I'm out of the loop. What race do you have planned for the weekend? Oh, and that mocking by the mountain seems like a great problem to have. Livin' the dream.

QOTD: No special runs planned...just getting acquainted with the trails of PA since I have not run of many.

FTYC:  glad everything is ok. Must have been scary.  Don't want to imagine that but glad he's ok now.

got up and road 6.1 miles on a bike with a headlamp.  Almost t-boned a 6 pack of deer I startled.  That was pretty funny.  They were scurrying like they were being chased by a bear or something.  But then DW called and said Gemma was awake so I had to head back so only got in a 30 min. workout.  Better than nothing though.  Gotta do something so I don't lose much fitness while I nurse this shin thing.

Will get in another workout at lunch.  Maybe some elliptical and some core work.  Or maybe I'll do like a hundred burpess to get my HR up.

QOTD:  I had planned on taking Friday off and doing a big long all day run but since I have a shin injury, I guess that's out of the question.  So I'll probably do a long bike ride.  If I can get this thing better, I'm going to do an all day run somewhere around the 29th or something.

                  Trail Monster

FTYC - glad the little one is okay! Hope you have a good run!

Lace_up - when do I get to come visit again?

                    Toyger - niece miles.

Majope - ewwww snow! I know it's coming here too. I just don't look forward to it.

QOTD: I've been alternating runs on all the trails within driving distance of me. When hubby is off for the holidays I'll probably drive a little further out to run on the Oil Creek or Burning River courses depending on weather and conditions.

I've got a one hour steady state run on tap today. Hoping I can get out on the recreational trail behind our house for it.

This morning I got out for 4.1 miles.  It was more of a slog due to the snow cover, but it was still a nice workout.

QOTD - Nothing special.  Just my regular stuff.

                          morning all!

SRD for me, with yoga planned later.  hamstrings getting a bit tight again... have I mentioned that I'm really lazy about stretching?

couch-- glad to hear your boy is on the mend.  ER visits are always nerve wracking, especially those middle of the night trips.

QOTD:  We're heading to the upper midwest, with a foot of new snow and more coming.  Hoping to get in some snowshoeing in on the trails, in addition to some runs.   I'm just looking forward to running in the daylight.

QOTD: I don't think I'll be able to run over the holidays.  Typically I try to get in a lot of miles with all the time off work, but not this year.

                              Running is dumb.
