Yawning Tuesdailies (Read 247 times)

Pain cave junkie

    Good morning fine people.

I plan on doing 15-20 miles on single track(mtn bike) tonight after work.  Weather is supposed to get crappy tomorrow so I'll get a ride in before the trails get wet.  It's easier and a lot less trauma on the trails.

    Have a great day.

I have a doctor's appointment today.  I will keep y'all updated whether or not they decide to chop off my leg.

Hope it goes well for you and no chopping is needed.

      Uh oh... now what?

Greetings from the grey and drizzly, but not very windy and a balmy 43ºF that felt just a bit colder down by the water where the tide was playing with the beach gravel by rolling things back and forth which causes me to stop and look and listen and never see which particular rock's sound caught my attention.  One kestrel on the fence where the owl once perched.  Cemetery was quiet except for the flag's gentle movement in the early morning wind.

FTYC: Both scary and good to read about the kidlet--your knowledge is much better than the empty minds of so many as they go through parenting.
lace_up: Rest a day or two, the Wasatch has the patience to wait for your return. Best wishes at Lookout Mountain--wish I could remember the name of the bakery at the bottom of the mountain (like it would still be there).
toyger: There's that swimming thing again. Local water is about 51ºF, c'mon out.
majope: As we get closer to Chrismas Kathy will wish, pray, and light candles trying to get it to snow here.
Tmotmo44: Yay for a good run.
ASUnk00: Is it an official stress fracture yet?
TheBanshee: Does "steady state" mean same pace or same effort throughout the run?
mjsmith1223: Another post to make me miss snow runs.
        runtraildc: Have fun napping
MadisonMandy: Fingers crossed for you (and a candle lit too).
TrailsnCocktails: Volleyball while holding a bottle of wine, wow!
Endurance Guy: "before the trails get wet"  Interesting idea, dry trails.

QOTD: I will do the perimeter at least one day (fourish hours), but the treat will be if we can get to Orcas Island and I'll get in a loop on Mt. Constitution  http://www.parks.wa.gov/parks/?selectedpark=Moran&subject=photos

        Endless trails

          Happy Tuesdaily, trailers.

I'm heading out for a 6.5 trail loop, shotgun deer season just ended.

Good job, Mandy. Doctors tend to have a short attention span, just remember:

"I want a referral to a sports doc, preferably one that runs".

QOTD: Nothing special planned. This Saturday I plan to do 4 loops/24ish miles

to mimic the course of my next race.

          Trail Monster

Banchee...I'm in Greensburg, PA....I run Boyce park in Monroeville occasionally as well as the Laurel Highlands trail and the various trails through Forbes State Forest.  Where do you typically run at?

North Park, Deer Lakes Park, Yough River Trail, wherever really.

John, steady state will be in the pace range from McMillan based on my half marathon time. I preferably starting at the slower send and getting into the faster end as I warm up. If I just don't have 'it' today then it will be as evenly paced as I can get it at the right effort level.

            2013 races:

            7/27 Burning RIver 100M

            8/24 Baker 50M

10/5 Oil Creek (distance to be determined)

              Morning folks,

Rest day from running though I'll probably brave the mall later. I will be tolerant. I will be happy. Yeah right. Angry

Mandy-- I sent a response. Good luck!

Jonfer-- That's what I told her too. Both my general ortho was a sports-med guy and my ortho surgeon are marathon runners who understand the mindset of us. Their focus is to get us back in the game.

QOTD-- Nothing great planned for the holidays. So much depends on the weather that we may get. I will run but who knows what.

Heading up to my shack on Friday and right now am planning a real long run in the Porcupines Mts. as of now there is only 1" on the ground. Kinda shocking for there.

12.2 mostly on roads as my work gives me time to run (sort of) beautiful day!

QOTD: As I am forced to take time off from work, I'm able to run on the trails at the foothills of the Sierra's (weather permitting)

                    Easy 3 miles this morning.

QOTD: I will do a few long runs; they are always special.

Busy weekend has turned into a busy week.  Managed to get some cardio in Sun between calls.  Rather than fighting the rain yesterday I finished up Christmas shopping (except for one thing).  I have two items to finish (I'm not afraid to use the holidays for an excuse to force hand-knits and other stuff on those I love) and then I can coast through the festivities.

Plan to get some trail time in this afternoon.  How much depends on when I can get out of here but I should be able to get a minimum of 40 min.

FTYC:  Sorry to hear about the visit to the ER but glad they could get your little one feeling a bit better.

MM:  Do you plan to get actual info at this appt or is this one of those stepping stone type appts to get you to the doc/PT/test/whateber you need?

                      Have a good afternoon all!

Oh, almost forgot qotd.  Nothing special planned.  Between visiting the relatives and work I don't have any free days until Jan1 and that's reserved for the family hike.

I managed to sneak in a nice Tempo workout today, 8 miles total w/ 4 miles a tempo pace. I was a little worried about this run going into it but I came out of it feeling really good. Nothing like a runner's high.

QOTD: Nothing special but I will use the time off to run as much as possible with my wife. That is always a good time!

Got in 4.5 miles on the TM doing 11-12% incline for an hour. My legs are fried now. I'm not used to running a solid hill that's 4 miles long Big grin

QOTD - I plan on getting in a couple of 15-20 milers during my 7 days off. WOO HOO!!!!

ASUnk00: Is it an official stress fracture yet?

I don't know about 'official'.  Haven't gone to the Dr.  Don't really plan to unless it never improves.  I'm just taking time off from running and trying to keep my fitness up doing other things.  If I had to guess, it's the beginning of a sfx.  If I kept running, I think it would get worse.

                            Refurbished Hip

Well, they had to chop off ol' lefty...

Just kidding.  My left leg remains intact.  I have a referral to sports med for next Friday.  I looked up the doc and he's a cross country skier.  That'll work for now.

                              Running is dumb.

                                Morning folks,

Just a quick fly-by for me since I'm in bed recovering either from a bug or a slight case of food poisoning.  No fun!

qotd: I'll be running a 50-mile training run in Pt. Defiance Park (in Tacoma, just south of Seattle) on Dec. 29 in preparation for Rocky.
