Refurbished Hip

I need to stop googling and get back to work.

I get my MRI results tomorrow.  Doggie walk tonight.

QOTD:  Have you eaten anything strange lately?  I just recently tried soursop (it's a really ugly, but tasty fruit.)

    Running is dumb.

    Birdwell

Well yesterday's planned 8 turned into 4 on a treadmill. We had a nasty combo of rain and snow yesterday that resulted in all the roads being covered in about an inch of ice. Sunshine is forecast for today, so hopefully things will clear up a bit in time for tomorrows morning run.

Today was 45 minutes in the pool.

      QOTD: nope

      sugnim

5 miles or so planned for after work--I'll be running home & taking the scenic route.

QOTD:  I love trying new foods and don't consider many things to be strange except for some of the over-processed packaged foods that are out there.  Very strange stuff indeed.  The most interesting things I've eaten recently were several varieties of wild berries on a hike.  But, that was last autumn.  It will likely be spring before I get an opportunity to try something new again.

5.7 miles today in a snowstorm. Very windy, but much warmer than recently--18F air temp.

MadisonMandy--hope the MRI brings good news.

Birdwell--ice sucks. May it go away soon so you can get back outside.

          sugnim--hope your run goes well.

QOTD: Strange as in something I haven't had before, or strange as in weird? New things I've had in the past week or so: bear sausage (I've had bear before, but not in this form), sea-buckthorn yogurt, cherry-flavored cheese, couple of new kinds of bread, several homemade Finnish Christmas goodies of the cake/cookie variety. But nothing weird.

            Morning trail folks,

What's wrong with a little Googlin' at work if you can? Not that I would ever do it. Wink

6.5-7 miles on the roads today. I will try to pick up the pace where I can between icy patches. Weights in the man cave later.

Heading north after lunch tomorrow for 4 days. I have some good bushwacking adventures planned including trying to get into this small section of state land that has no public access as it is surrounded by this kind of "exclusive private development". There is a large tract of old growth pine in there that I'm am obsessed with getting to. If the snow isn't too deep I can come in from the Upper Michigan side and orienteer in stealthly I think. A long trek. We'll give it a try anyway and hopefully not get arrested. I do respect private property but this situation just drives me bonkers.

QOTD- Well there is this large ham that arrived from my sister in Virginia. Aged, dry, and salty. Almost enough to make me a vegetablearian. Disapprove

            Ultra Cowboy

Had a stuffed up head and 4 miles last night took care of it but this morning I woke up to a (getting) sore throat.  I don't need this right now...

I had Brussel sprouts for the first time in my 38 years  on Christmas.  Well turns out I haven't been missing anything...

              Occasional Runner

Spin bike, core work, a 4 mile slog through WAY too much fresh powder, now heading out for a snowshoeing adventure.

QOTD: No. I eat very ordinary things. Mostly recognizable produce.

Fortunately I feel a bit better today, so I'm hoping to get out for about 8 miles. (Rocky -- hopefully you'll recover quickly as well!)

qotd: nothing weird, but Weegee's cousin gave us some homemade apple moonshine. That's some powerful stuff!

Not being a consistent reader of your dailies, I have to ask... does the last sentence relate to the first sentence?

                    Hope you feel better.

I would try apple moonshine...heading to Washington now...

Hey Harrier, will you be internet accessible tomorrow, or should I drop you a text after my appt?

Nope!  I had a bit of a sore throat yesterday, and I was concerned it'd turn into a full-fledged cold.  I don't think the moonshine had anything to do with it.  (Although had I taken more than just the teensiest/tiniest sip, I'm sure it would have.)

Please by all means text me. Nothing too provacative as either my wife or daughter will probably read it to me as I'm driving. Don't get me into anymore trouble than I usually am in. Smile  Do you still have my cell #?

(I'm now visualizing the text she sends me and trying to explain that one)

And I think I would love some of that apple moonshine too. Approve Strictly for medicinal purposes of course.

"Hey hot stuff!  So I got the news from that specialist on my groin.  Looks like we won't be able to spend that time together in the woods after all.  Do you want to borrow my Vaseline while I'm in bed?"

                            Faster Than Your Couch!

SSD (Snow shoveling day) today. The snow is very heavy, so I have no hesitations logging it as a core workout.

We lucked out on the freezing rain, which never arrived here. Perhaps I'll get out for some snowshoeing later, but right now, the kids are playing in the snow, and I don't want to have to call them in. I'm glad they love going outside, no matter what the weather.

I ran 5 miles in the snowstorm yesterday, and it was very enjoyable. One of those runs in "bad" conditions, where you get your gear and clothing just right, so it was actually fun. I could have gone longer, but family chores were calling.

QOTD: No. Just my own cooking, and meanwhile, I'm used to it, so it doesn't feel strange anymore ;-)  .

                              Run for fun.

                              Irish Luck

Just got back from 6 miles with the mister. Thankfully, the trails weren't too washed out, considering how much rain we got last might. Headed out for a massage in a few minutes!

QOTD: most of my food intake is pretty normal--lots of plants. I did receive a jar of "Irish Cream" for the holidays which is a mix of cream, condensed milk, almond and vanilla extracts, spices....and whiskey.  A spoonful in a cup of coffee is just right.

BT survivor since 2003. Trail runner since 2009.

I think brain surgery stimulated my running nerve and made me into a trail runner. I'm grateful for both.
