Sea Level Saturdaily (Read 35 times)

Occasional Runner

Ran 10 miles on the roads this morning, making an out and back to the beach. I haven't run at sea level in a long time. The difference in my sustainable speed is amazing. It must be how Lance Armstrong felt all the time.

QOTD: Did you partake in the Black Friday madness?

Aside from running to the grocery store for more beer, I stayed at the house all day so I could avoid it all.

Ran 5 miles on the road this morning.  Light snow falling down.  Cars buzzing by quickly.

QOTD:  Went to the LRS and DW and I both bought new Brooks Jackets at 30% off.  Then went to Appalachian Brewing Company to fill up a growler of their Grinnin' Grizzly Holiday Ale.  Drinking the ale tonight when some friends come over.

      “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

        Good morning!

Lace, nice pic. Sounds like a great run for you...drunk on oxygen.

AT: I bought a pair of running tights and a great highlighter green lightweight 3/4 zip for a great price. I could not resist.

Planning g a late afternoon run. Grandmother duties until then. I had a really nice 8 miler yesterday. It was a good kind of cold...it felt great...despite multiple GI issues along the way. . It seems my runs feel best at the end...i think that means i am not working hard enough and/or not running long enough.

Qotd: i did do a little shopping...but not early with crowds. I did find some good deals though. I have no desire for hand to hand combat over a tv...or anything else.

          Afternoon all,

I figured I ought to check in since I ran a trail 5k this morning.  It went pretty good considering I haven't run in a couple months.  My foot felt fine during the run, but we'll see how it feels later...fingers crossed that I can start building back up again!

QOTD: I abstained from shopping yesterday in solidarity with Ferguson (or I just didn't go shopping just like every other year...it's all how you spin it).

Had a brutally busy night at work, mostly just stupid stuff that's irritating to deal with.  DW wanted to go to a Christmas festival but I needed to catch a nap then she started working on making dinner before I got out of bed so we ended up not going.

I was hoping to get in a short run but will probably just do an easy workout on the Elliptical later this evening.

QOTD: I detest being around morons and that's what the majority of people are that are shopping on Black Friday. I avoid it like the plague or, in modern terms, Ebola.  I have some friends that go just to watch and laugh at the stupidity. Some of their stories are head shaking hilarious, and I've thought about going just to people watch, but I can't get myself to do that.

            Are we there, yet?

Some fartlek today with the run totaling 8.5 by the end.

QOTD: I had no choice about partaking of the Black Friday madness. It's my job. Facing another 6 hours tonight at the bookstore.

Went to one of our county parks for what I had hoped would be about 10 miles as I laid out my route in my head but I forgot to do one little half-assed loop and ended with 9.2.  Very tiring run in the softening snow. Tomorrow will be better with below freezing temps again. Not sure what and where yet but I will eventually sort that out.

QOTD- I think hell will freeze over or the Lions would actually win a Super bowl before you would ever see me at a mall on black Friday or boxing day for that matter. I think getting a growler filled is more of a real need, sort of survival type necessities so that gets a pass.

E/A  yesterdays QOTD-- I look forward to Jan. Not a fan of this part of the calendar at all. Throw in some Dec. birthdays in the family(incl. mine) and it is just an overload. I want to be a recluse when I grow up.

Rest day today, but racing the Dirty Bird 15k tomorrow morning.

Also, I sent in my application for Laurel Highlands today. Registration opened yesterday I think.

QOTD: I did not, just spend the day with family.

                    Good eeeevening!

Gosh, wc, that sounds awful (qotd) I do whatever I can to avoid stores on Black Friday and just stay home if I can help it.

I had one of my best training runs of the year today... no special routes or anything, just 90 minutes easy on the road that turned out to be further than I expected. Ever since I heard an interview with Larisa Dannis on ultrarunner podcast I've been futzing around with low HR stuff and I'm really liking it. It's so obvious to me when I get out of the right zone though that I think pretty soon I'll be able to ditch the monitor.

Ran 6 with Earl...it's a rainy day...about a quarter mike into the run the sky dumped on me...at first I stayed on the riad to avoid getting too wet...how dumb!  And boring....left the road.

qotd:  I guess I sm guilty...stopped at Sporting good store to see if the shoes my husbanded wanted were on sale; they were not so I left.  Some black Friday !!

Perhaps got just over 10 feet above sea level On my 6 miles.  Legs felt like lead, but then I noticed I had kicked up the pace.  I' m enjoying the flatness of the area, but tomorrow we're heading home.

                          Qotd: nope.

Went to a friend's house Saturday night. I had stopped by the local Woman's Association charity bizzar to pick up some cakes. The bizzar was quite crowded and it looked like they were going to meet their fundraising goals. The homemade banana breads I bought were nice.

Got up and did 6 groggy miles this morning. I might of had a little too much wine with dinner... The run went well though.

qotd: No black Friday for me other than the Bazzar.
