Good morning folks. Got in a few miles late afternoon yesterday while a kid was swimming. It was me and the beautiful woods. Trees are just starting to show some fading and colors starting to peak thru. With all the consistent and abundant rain this spring/summer, everything is quite lush and the forecast is for a stunning fall.
qotd: Favorite cartoon(s)? The Far Side never fails me. And this came up this morning, which I thought was relevant.

Another pleasant 5 miles this morning. I have contemplated jumping into a 50k this fall (early November) but was going to make a decision Aug/Sept based on how my dissertation is going and if I would be able to increase my LRs. My dissertation is going considerably slower than I anticipated. I am still on the fence about a 50k. I ran close to 3 hours labor day weekend on wet muddy trails and felt fine. I could have easily kept going. But I would need to feel that comfortable with 4-5 hours to really think about jumping into a 50k. Decisions, decisions...
QOTD:
Have a great day!
My favorite day of the week is RUNday
I dragged myself out of bed this morning and ran 5 rather sluggish miles. My joints felt a little stiff this morning. The next four weeks are going to be tough, long run after long run with only a mild break next weekend. I ran with some glasses this morning just to see if they would brighten things up a bit. They are those yellow lens safety glasses, actually shooting glasses. They didn't work like I expected. No problems with vision; I was just checking what kind of effect it would have.
QOTD: I would have to go with The Far Side, too.

Rain now, so might skip lunch run and run later.
QOTD: The guy who does "The Oatmeal" is an ultrarunner.
“Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!
running under the BigSky
got smoked out this morning, hopefully for the last time; will try this afternoon with Tiny E
qotd: there is a series of Bigfoot cartoon books that are hilarious; one is called Bigfoot I not dead, sample

10.8 miles on the state game land trails yesterday. I twisted my ankle once again so I think I'll take a day or two off.
Jamie, if you did A 3 hour run I think you would be fine for a 50 K!
I completely agree with this.
Sue
I ran a little over 4 this morning with the mutts. Whatever was bugging my knee was just muscle soreness and is pretty much gone.
QOTD: For a while I was enjoying Delbert because it so matched what was going on at work. Now it's just stupid.

Muskegon River, in Evart MI. Nice day.
I kind of had the sniffles when it ended.
Well stated.
Stop it! I might just sign up for a 50 miler in a non drunken stupor.
