I got in a good workout last night at the gym - ladder run on the TM, steps, and then a leg workout.

QOTD: What gets you going? What excites you?

I still get the butterfly feeling in my stomach when I am driving out to a trail head.  I know trail running is still what I love when I still feel that way.  Otherwise, I am very even keeled and do not get too worked up about much.  It's both a strength and a weakness for me.

    Have a great day!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

I knocked out 5 this morning. The humidity was back, but it was not too bad. I did 10 after work yesterday. It was warm, but the dew point was low.

QOTD: Running new trails gets me fired up. I also get excited as a long race gets closer.

Morning All!  We're getting some much needed moisture and a nice cool down- this system might put an end to a very protracted fire season. If it's not raining too hard this afternoon I'll get 5-6 miles in, if it is off to the gym for some strength training

qotd: my "adventure" runs really get me pumped up, from the planning, packing and to the actual run- it definitely keeps the fire burning

Ended up with 6 miles last night. Ran the first 4.3 miles, walked the rest with DW.  Was planning on a bike ride today but with some recent events that require me to be near the phone I'm not sure what I'll get in.

QOTD:  Right now I'm not sure how to answer this.  I guess for running and biking it's when I'm out and feeling really strong.

For my professional life it's when I'm given good equipment and training and work with a good partner on truly sick patients.  That rarely  occurs anymore. Overall I feel like I have very little to be excited about from a job perspective.

For life in general? Not much. Lately it seems that douchebaggery  is increasing by leaps and bounds. Unfortunately life events encroach on my active life style and drain my energy for that.

            Happy noontime all!

A relaxing 6.5 miles on the trails of Green Lane last night. I actually wore a shirt for a run which I suspect will become a more frequent occurrence this month. Tonight, I have the second 5k race in the Warwick Park trail series. I'd like to beat last month's time but of course I haven't trained for a fast time, so it will be hit or miss whether that happens. In any case I will get in a faster run which is a good thing. I'll do a few warm-up miles as well.

QOTD: At my age, Viagra or Cialis helps with titillation. Hahaha. Just kidding. I think. In the clean department, Ohio State Football gets me wound up, signing up for a big race and then getting to the taper, and getting in a groove on the golf course. Oh, and roller coasters.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

Hi trailers!  yesterday's planned strength session turned out to be an afternoon of yardwork and hauling comppost.  Finished it up this morning and got new seed down.  I could hear the birds flocking in the trees, just waiting for lunch.   So, my legs are a bit sore from all this unusual work on weak muscles, but I'll get in a few miles later.

qotd:  Lots of things come to mind, but one I have today is my kid's cross country meets.  It's just a lot of fun for me to watch these kids (especially mine) compete at a not easy sport.  And they can see an improvement week after week.  And snorkeling/scuba diving.

16 miles out and back on a logging road.  Nice weather, but I was ot doing well on the way back. Felt some nausea that wouldn't let up.  I rarely get nausea, and never on a run shorter than 20 miles, so hopefully not coming down with something.  Now I get to wait for DW's car to get inspected, fun times.

QOTD:  I'll keep it clean.  This morning I got a text from DD#1 that said "Happy Tuesday, Love you". That always gets me fired up.  Coaching a kid to a PR really gets me fired up. In swimming, kids know if I'm running along the deck waving frantically, that they are doing something right. The kid could finish in last place but drop 4 seconds and I'll act like they won an Olympic gold. It really fires me up.

                “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

It's sprinkling in California right now...yea..cool nice weather...but I still manage to not get up to run.   Going to shoot for something after work.   Should have brought lunch time run clothes... lunch run season is coming.  I've gain more weight then I like so I need to do some cut back on my calorie intake.

QOTD:  Good question.   I was just telling myself I need to do something to get worked up about.  Races do it, vacations do it, making a to do list or giving myself a little motivation speech sometimes helps.   I am going to get myself worked up about losing 5 pounds!

Daydreamer:  I feel ya on the job prospect.  I really hate my job right now but with retirement so close I need to stick it out.

I am a bit surprised that some of you guys have kept it "clean".

Daydreamer - you scare me every time you talk about the people you work with.  You are a paramedic right? Which means that there are a bunch of morons out there that are supposed to have some sense of what to do when people are in an emergency.

dc & AT - love hearing that the kids are very motivating for you.  I look forward to being that parent that goes everywhere to support my kids (hopefully in sports).  I do support them now but I think it will be really fun when they are teenagers and competing in games/matches that actually keep score.

Supposed to 90 minutes fairly easy today, but may break it up into two runs ....

QOTD: Lots of things get me amped. My bride, kids, new ideas (though I do not read enough), running, cycling, cooking, etc.

Yep, Call 911 and you might get some really smart, motivated people there to help and take care of you. On the other hand it might be a bunch of clowns and morons. The problem is that the bar to entry in this field is way too low.  On top of that administrators, physicians, the state and others implement policies that hurts the profession. It's a very, very deep subject.

Planning to do 5 easy miles after work today.

qotd: Yeah, I'll keep it clean too...   I think that changing things up gets things exciting (wait that could be taken the wrong way..... )  However, I will say that moving half way around the world was kinda cool.  My DW and I have probably gone out and gone on lots of little 'adventures' more in the past 6 months than we did in the last few years.  We keep saying that 'we're treating this like a long vacation'.  On the running side of course exploring new trails and running in a new city are always fun.  Then there is tapering and getting ready for a big run, especially when it's a destination run.

6 on the home trails today, plus pick and shovel arm workout. Everything's buttoned up on the water line and now it's time to finally refill the hole.. maybe do some grading while I'm at it.

qotd: A trailhead I don't hit that often or a race, standing up in front of people and performing, finishing up a job I did with my hands(hey!), and also small gestures of affection from the handful of people in my life who have a hard time with that.

                            Pleasant dreams, y'all
