Morning folks!  Ended up with 4 miles and a sprained ankle in rock creek yesterday.  Hit the edge of a small rock hiding under the leaves in just the wrong way.  No swelling, but a different kind of pain in a different spot.  Heading to the gym for strength work, though, and I'll test the ankle on the treadmill while I'm there.

qotd:  Any good movies or netflix addictions lately?  I've been watching Veep, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and highly recommend it. That lady could make a rock laugh, and it doesn't hurt that she's surrounded by a brilliant cast.

I would run today, but we are expecting terrible weather later in the day.

QOTD: Not right now. I have spent most of my year reading.

Subaru vs. deer.    First deer I have hit in 18 years but 5th overall.  So my plans for a nice trail exploration yesterday were somewhat waylayed. Still got out on a new trail but only for about 90 minutes as I had to get the car home while it was still light out. Luckily it was just barely driveable. Nice run but I was just dis-spirited and not into it after the wreck.  Car is in the body shop already now and I have DD's car so I guess it's just a minor inconvenience in the overall scheme of things. Way, way too many deer out there.

Rainy, gloomy day here but I'll try to get out for something after some weights.

QOTD- Just a simple sports guy so when I turn on the TV it's for the NFL or Badger basketball which has just started. This winter I'll watch a little so I'll check out Veep.

        Faster Than Your Couch!

Went to see the hand specialist for my thumb, and when I was there, I was told I would not be seen because I was 10 minutes late. Great, with two people checking in in front of me, and them taking eternity and forever to do so, telling stories about their latest endoscopy , that made for those 10 minutes.

Anyway, now I'm once again relying on the hope that the thumb will just heal up on its own again. May take a couple years, but so be it. No more runarounds for that one.

So with that in the middle of my morning off work, I lost the time to sneak in a run.

Weather is perfect, temps in the 50's, bright sunshine, a gentle breeze - about to cry right now!

Off to work in a few minutes, and with a 10-hour shift ahead of me, all on my feet, I'll call that a rest day, LOL.

Harrier: Sucks with the deer. In the past few days, I've seen 3 deer accidents on our roads. I wish they'd stay in the woods. Hope your car won't get too expensive to get fixed.

QOTD: Can't wait to get to the Red Box in front of my workplace to pick up Jurassic World. I need some distraction today!

          Run for fun.

We have a high wind warning in effect today, could see gusts into the 60-70 mph range  if it comes to fruition, I'll take a rest day, if not going to get some hill repeats in

I hit so many deer (most w/ my work truck luckily) that I've long ago lost count. I have hit a couple with our Subarus, not fun

qotd: just finished up Wallander on Netflix, very good crime series- different as its set in Sweden

It's my habit to come to work and read our dailies...so even though I haven't run in a week  I'm still coming here and posting.  I WILL RUN TODAY!!! Lunch time 5 is the plan.

QOTD:  I thought The Martian was pretty good.  I'd like to get netflicks to watch some of these cool shows.  Then again I also want to read more.

FTYC:  That's a crock of shit!  You should have refused to leave since you were actually in the office on time.  Those doctors (sorry AT) have no problem making us wait to see them.

              AT:  OK not all doctors.

Northern:  Look at the bright side; you came out of the accident in better shape than the deer.

Ran 5-6 today in woods, not sure how long as I stopped a few times to take in the sights through all the leafless trees.  At one point, I heard voices talking off to my left side. I looked and never saw anyone. It was very weird as the voices were very audible and not really any cover to hide behind. Maybe it's in my head.

FTYC - Agree that's a crock of shit, and I'm sure it's the office managers policy and not the doctors (contrary to belief, we just go tot the next room where we are told). I never know who is late or early, and it all evens out in the end. Crap like that makes me mad.

NH - Sorry about your Subaru. I've never had a crash with one, but DD#1 survived a bad one in an Outback. One less deer to worry about.

dc - Were you on the main trail or one of the side trails?

                warden - don't blow away.

Queen - Thanks for the positive clarification.

LB - Any niggles or naggles from the race.  How did the "boys" do?

QOTD:  Not much on Netflix. Best movie we saw lately was the Martian. Might go see Bridge of Spies tonight.

                “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

No run last night.  Maybe tonight.  Queen - you're losing precious time to make up some miles.

runtrailsdc - the whole SM course was covered in leaves and I somehow stayed on my feet.  It was a miracle.  I thought for sure I would go down at least once.  In fact, at certain portions of the race I was so tired (more from lack of sleep than fatigue from the running) that I was hoping to fall (gently) and just stay down for a while.

couch - oh that would have made me so mad!

QOTD: watching the series "Flash" right now.

                  Have a great day!

No problems at all. We are all good. But, the way my luck has been running lately I was thinking I might start a period sometime Saturday night/early Sunday AM. I sure got moody, and all I had was two Hello Kitty band aids.

Time pressed at lunch and promised the Lady a run so we tried this open space area just outside of town where I've taken SirB the spaniel walking a few times recently. There is a trail loop there that's close to a mile, but if I were to guess I'd say 1,400m based on some signs there. So I ran an easy lap around the loop, then started dialing up the pace, just running by feel until it eventually got pretty hard. Well, at least for me. The Lady kept up ok but really wasn't able to do her usual wandering. So 8 laps, 6 with some effort from 7:14-6:16 per lap, for about 7 miles total I suppose.

QOTD: We've been watching The Killing on Netflix.. it's a bit slow but it's detective show which is one of genres we both like. I've been watching Fargo seasom2 on FX which is pretty awesome.

Queenie - You are off my fantasy running team!

Jamie, LB2 - Congrats on your races... I need to read your report.

Couch - That is just not right about the doctor. Normally you wait at least 10 minutes or more for them.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

I bit tired today since I was on a midnight to 4am conference call  with Houston last night. But today I got to sleep in and I'm 'working' from home today.  I plan to run later before dinner.

FTYC, I think you should write to the Doc and let him know that it was bullshit.

qotd: went to an Indian movie a few months ago during the film festival, a typical Bollywood extravaganza. It was ok....  called 'Brother Bajrangi'.
