Tiny Tuesday (Read 22 times)

It is Tuesday and I may take a second day off.  I don't know yet.  DW asked me last night if I was "ready" for OC.  I shrugged my shoulders.  I am as ready as I will ever be I suppose.  It's only 12 miles longer than a 50 miler - I mean how hard can it possibly be?

    QOTD: Surprisingly I got nothing...

    Have a great day!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

Nothing yet today, though will run this evening on the trails with the Lady. Last night was a very pleasant 7 miler on the rocky/hilly side of Green Lane. The morning rain really freshened up the woods, getting rid of the late summery dry funky smell of death. Instead the air was moist and refreshing, the trail soft and damp instead of firm and dry. It felt great out there. I did about 12 fartlek segments in the 1/4 to 1/2 mile range, a few uphill fartleks, downhill fartleks, flat fartleks, and rocky fartleks. I am enjoying typing fartlek if you can't tell. It was a fun run that filled me with energy and led to a fast time for the loop.

QOTD: Beer... what beer are you drink lately, new stuff, old regular stuff, whatever.

Me, I stocked up on a variety of Deschutes after returning from Oregon. Mirror Pond Ale might be my favorite. It's not a real strong beer in terms of alcohol content but tasty. Also have their Fresh Squeezed IPA and Autumn Hopzeit IPA. Lagunitas 12th of Never Ale is also a tasty but somewhat light ale that's not too strong.

Jamie - Hope things freshen up for you before Oil Creek. You should be at locked and loaded, tape stage soon.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

8 really sucky miles. 99% humidity and felt like I was breathing through a straw. Yuck.

QOTD  I try different Octoberfest beers this time of year. Looking forward to some new beers when we get to Arizona and Utah.

        “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

Hey guys!  I ran 5.5 miles last night with the same hamstring pain.  Whatever.    24 hour race in 3 days.  What could possibly go wrong??

QOTD: To celebrate me paying off my student loans, I took DBF out to dinner on Saturday and ordered a beer called a "Spandex Bandit" - it was a Belgian.  Nice citrus flavors.  I would have enjoyed it more if it hadn't made me feel like shit the rest of the night.  I guess I'm a non-drinker these days.

          Running is dumb.

          Sandy-2

Slept in so I'll do 5 after work today.  They say we might set a new high temp record, great!!!

Jamie, OC is the same weekend as Grindstone right.  Are you tapering yet?  I'm gonna do one more easy 15 miler on Sat. then I'll taper.

qotd: our old standard is Negra Modelo but haven't had any for a while or since we've been back.

Going to try and get 5-ish after work, it might be in the rain (which we need)

qotd: I prefer lagers (& Pilsners)- Red Lodge Ales makes  a Czech mate Pilsner that I've been drinking and Highlander makes a Lost Peak lager that I also get; both brewed in Montana

Hey Jamie, I just found out the other day my buddy Matt Kofahl made it into the OC 100k from the waitlist... it was a bit of a surprise, but he's gonna take a shot. He's a great guy and from what I remember, you guys are close enough in ability that you might end up running together for a bit. If you run into him, tell him hello for me.

This weekend was a trip to Green Lakes State Park near Syracuse, NY, site of my 50k PR and it was a blast to run those trails again and just hang out in the campground with the fam. The kids made impromptu friends, all that kind of stuff. We got poured on the last night- it's been a while since I weathered a thunderstorm in a tent and it was great. Bravo to the tent as well.

Just 5 miles today. This is the last viable training week for Green Monster, so I'll have to get a few tough runs in, but I think later in the week.

qotd: No much new lately, and actually I've mostly been drinking Molson Canadian, my old reliable

                Are we there, yet?

Taking another day off to let my blisters heal. Ended up with silver dollar sized blisters on the bottom of both feet on the pad just behind the toes.

QOTD: No beer for me unless you include root beer, in which case my favorite in A&W on tap.

Hey Blarg, does Molson still make Brador?  In our younger days my DW went to SUNY Potsdam and every once in a while I'd visit and we'd cross over to Canada to get it.

                    Faster Than Your Couch!

So I made it through the workshop. The casino turned out to be fun, the only thing missing was me hitting a jackpot. But the drinks definitely made up for it   God thing I could sleep in in the morning...

Jamie and Sandy: unfortunately it's a PSU football weekend, too. No way for me to get away and see one of you guys there.

Mandy: Easy, girl, I hope things will go well for you!

QOTD: I'll still have to try gluten free beer yet. Until then, I'll stick with tequila.

                      Run for fun.

Sandy - I'm not sure. I last had it maybe 5 years ago. They used to carry it in the Duty Free store at the Peace Bridge(Buffalo/Fort Erie). Haven't seen it recently... sometimes people fail to reward greatness. Like splits, dammit, it's probably been 15 years and I'm still pissed off that I can't get a case of OV splits anymore!

I had a great run Tuesday afternoon. It was hot, about 93. However, the humidity had dropped. It may have been one of my fastest runs of the year, but I don't know the exact time because I forgot my watch. It was pretty fast, though.

QOTD: Early in the summer I was drinking some local stuff, Canebrake by Parish Brewing. It is a wheat ale that is really good. Also, a little bit of Envie, also by Parish. It is an APA, and I don't know if I have ever had a better one. Lately, I have been drinking a little bit of Stella Artois. I don't really like lager beer that much, but I do like Stella.
