Woah, I forgot to take credit for today. 4 miles in snowshoes again.
Late to the party but that's an excellent question just for being able to kind of take the pulse of the group. It's great to see how many of you are right where you wanted to be or ahead.. it's hard to tell from day to day reports. Personally I have no idea. I'm not really scheduled for all of this snowshoeing, but that's what's available and the occasional treadmill run indicates I'm pretty close to where I want to be.

I'm sure you've noticed, but snowshoeing is a great workout- not sure what the correct mile ratio would be, but it's definitely not a 1:1 ratio compared to running, much more energy expended on shoes- of course I could have been doing it wrong all these years too

Hah, yeah most definitely! And when it comes to keeping a consistent effort, it's a very good (and unforgiving) teacher. I find myself more often going by time, especially when breaking trail or after a big storm where I might only make it a mile and a half in an hour.
Faster Than Your Couch!
warden, darg: I agree! I find that it especially targets the lower abs and back muscles, so it's a great core workout as well.
I think with the same effort (more or less, as I go by feel), you get about half as far in snowshoes as in running shoes on a regular (not snow-covered) trail in the same time.
Run for fun.

I'd say that's pretty darn close
