Labor Day Mondailies (Read 25 times)

Faster Than Your Couch!

    Good Morning,

6 wonderful miles toward the sunrise. Great day here in PA today!

Now gathering the kids from sleepover, and DS to arrive for a visit. It's always nice to have almost all of the family together, even if it's only for a day.

Off to work, let's "labora!" on Labor Day (that's what it's there for anyways, right?)!

Like in Korea (see Sandy's post yesterday), "Labor Day" (or actually the "Day of Labor") is celebrated May 1st in Austria. Maybe it's countries with social-democrat or socialist backgrounds that celebrate it on that day? In Austria, it has always been a big day for the social-democrat party, with parades, flags, marching band, speeches,...

QOTD: What specifically do you celebrate on Labor Day?

    Run for fun.

Got in my long run yesterday morning...20 miles on the AT with the back being a bit faster than the out.  That bodes well for me.  I might either just take the day off or get to the gym tonight...not sure yet.  Spending the day wiping my laptop clean, a few painting jobs, working on a downspout, some time at the pool later....yeah that sounds like a full day.

      QOTD: See above.

      Have a great day!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

DW and I met up with some other trail runners for 14 miles on the AT.  Nice easy pace to start and then we strung out.  Saw 2 other trail runners, which is almost unheard of, and several SOBO hikers.  Saw a nice "Trail Magic" stash loaded up with candy.

QOTD:  Heading to a "Leaving Us" cookout for DW's old work.  Her new job starts tomorrow.  Then stop by my Mom's for a visit since today marks 13 years since my Dad was killed by a reckless driver. Always a tough day for her.

        “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

Spending the day at work. Grilled a few burgers in between calls. If I was home I'd be out on the bike.

QOTD: Most of the time I actually labor on Labor Day. For some reason I rarely have off. If I did it would pretty much be like anyother day for me.

11 miles back on the trails again. Had fun in the big city but glad to be home.

qotd  Laybor Day used to be when we all met at the deer lease and worked our butts off. Then go to town.

Crazy guys went to Mexico. Don't use your only phone call on your wife.

Ended up with 10 miles for the day, pretty nice running despite being very hot.

QOTD: I am just glad to be off, so I celebrate being off.

The weather this morning was crisp and cool.  So nice and dry.  So nice in fact, I slept in    ;-)

I'll make up the 5 mi later on this week, not sure I'll be able to after work tonight.

qotd: Don't celebrate anything really.  I remember as a kid it was more like mourning period...  growing up in NY it was like the end of the summer, we started back to school right after Labor day weekend.

                some call me Tim

qotd: Yep, my kids go back Wednesday.. late this year, but my youngest goes to full-day kindergarten this year and for the first time in 8 years I have the opportunity to get something else going. For all of the difficult parts, and there have been many, the times I've spent with my girls at home have been so precious to me. So today I guess I am celebrating both our time together as they learned and grew as well as the opportunity to do something new.

Another 5 on the home trails today. I've been lax about posting, but I actually haven't missed a day since the 50k. I didn't plan it, but it feels good. I guess I'll streak until it's inconvenient.

I had a pretty nice 5 miler this morning...pushing the kids in the stroller. It was very hot and muggy. They slept through most of it. Then spent the rest of the day putzing and hanging with the kids. It was a good day.

Qotd: to me it's a celebration of summer's end...and a day off from work.
