I would give up running in a heartbeat to be able to be on my trails.
Running is dumb.
Another vote here for trails...I believe this brings the count to 22/9.
Today's run, a maybe 75%/25% ratio of roads to trails, was a perfect example of why. On the roads, I found myself checking my watch like every two minutes, hyper-aware of my position in time and space. On the trail sections I was just lost in the experience, the quiet--it was much more meditative. And I think the trails would have been just as enjoyable if I'd been hiking and not running.
Mandy, best wishes with your PT!
Trails. During the times of my life when I haven't had access to trails I just couldn't make myself run any volume anyway.
Plus: I like hiking with my kids.

I have to run. Luckily, I live in Louisiana where many roads are much more technical than most trails. I'd have to choose running, even though I don't like pavement at all.
I'm in NW LA and I can vouch for this.
My answer would be roads. Running is what I like, trails are nice but not absolutely crucial to the experience...just more of an enhancement.
