Cutting heels on a shoe (Read 32 times)

Watoni

Hey, I have been MIA for a bit but am having issues with a shoe I otherwise like since the heel counter is pretty hard and the heel is high.

Has anyone tried anything to soften a heel counter and/or cut down the heel on a shoe?

    Thanks!

I've never done it, but Fellrnr.com has a pretty good tutorial on something he did, including the tools used.

I tried it with a pair of La Sportiva Fireblades, but they were not usable afterwards. I never figured out a way to seal the cut smoothly. The plan was to use duct tape, but it is too thick and knurly, and that creates more pressure on the heel.

Look forward to hearing if you find a solution!
