Morning all!  Bike to work and strength train this evening (nice run yesterday evening).

qotd: favorite month of the year?  I have to vote this month- September, weather is near perfect for running, hiking and you can shoot grouse

    2023 goal 2023 miles  √

    2022 goal- 2022 miles √

    2021 goal- 2021 miles √

5 after work. I need to kick things up. I have some pacing duties coming up in October and again in December. I've already been challenged and labelled a potential "dropped pacer" for December. These racers!!!

QOTD: I would have to say November is my favorite month for running. March and April would be close, but I don't run very much the last week of March or the first three weeks of April.

        That it 'tis...

Got up at 4:20am and was "running" by 4:35am this morning.  It was 80 deg and 90% humidity.  Condensation on the house windows, stuff dripping from the trees, foggy, steamy...   Simply a "fine" Sept/Fall morning to be up and out early.  NOT !!!!

Did 10 miles.  But for some reason I felt pretty good and went a little quicker than the past few days.  Go figure.

qotd: November. I'm not sure, but down here in TX, I think you can shoot stuff most fall, winter and spring months, just depends on what's lined up to be shot at and what you're gonna be shooting with.

Slept in will run during Da Boy's soccer practice. Looking forward to a long run tomorrow. Take care all.

QOTD: Hard to pick around here, I would say Oct / Nov

Had to get DW's car in for inspection so she took my car to work this morning. Only problem was my key for her car was in my car.   So I ran to her work and got the keys and took my car back home, then dropped her car off and ran back home.  All in all around 9 miles with a stop in the middle.

Now I'll just have to remember to pick her up later.

QOTD:  Mid October to mid November. I love running with the fall colors and the temperatures are usually perfect.  This year, the lack of rain has some leaves dropping already. Fall might not be as beautiful as last year.

Some funny stuff over on that FB thingie.

Yesterday was one of those days I felt as if I was getting sick, but managed a couple of miles around the neighborhood at sunset. The run felt much better than Tuesday's and was able to push my pace for that short jaunt.  Heading to yoga in a few minutes-- dreading it actually since I haven't gone for 6 weeks or so. I really need it, but it's not going to be either fun or pretty.

qotd: Mid-October to mid-November for exactly the same reason's AT gave.

              Daydreamer1

Overslept by about two hours. Wanted to get up early and go for a nice 7+ mile run. Left the house it was in the low 80s. Got back and it was 87 degrees with 90% humidity . Ended up only doing 5.1 miles of running and walking with DW. I really hate this weather.

QOTD: October. Typically it's cooler but not really cold. The leaves are changing and things are looking pretty nice. It's nice weather to just be out and about in, whether it's biking, running, working around the house or hunting.  I like the early black powder deer season cause I don't freeze like I do later in the year.

Maybe I should take up some grouse hunting. I kick up quite a few when running and the damn things give me a heart attack every time . The only problem is I hate cleaning them and never was really good at cooking them.

Five miles this morning...thanks to Jamie's challenge (consistency) even though it was 7:05 when I climbed out of bed I decided I should run anyways.  4.3 miles with the group last night...yah I just don't know about this group thing.

QOTD:  November..but ask in the spring and it will be April.

Sandy:  That sounds horrible!  Especially at 4:30 am!!

I meant to get up this morning and run but due to a very bad night of sleep (well not much sleep really), I shut off the alarm.  It was for the best as DS1 slept through his alarm and I had to wake him in time to get ready and make his bus.  He is middle school this year and has to be out the door before 7am.  If I was running, I would not have gotten him up on time.  You're welcome! So maybe a run tonight.  I got to be consistent!

Sandy - that really sucks...big time.

QOTD: Well it seems the consensus is Sept Oct Nov.  I cannot deviate from that.  October is a great month.  Cooler temps, colors, falling leaves, football, cooler temps, usually a race or two to look forward to - yeah that will do.

                    Have a great day!

A tired hot humid 8.5 miles this morning with the Lady out at French Creek. I took a filler day off from my vacation out west, as I did not get back home until almost 4am this morning, so while we started our run around 9:30am it was on limited sleep on my part. Felt good though to shake things out back home and sort of peaceful out at French Creek on a September weekday morning despite the heat.

The trip to Bend Oregon was amazing, spectacular, perfect, fantastic, awesome, and so much more. Trail running, hiking,  good food and tasty craft beer in the evening. I don't know how it gets better than that. I will post more sometime later this week.

QOTD: Late April to early May. At least in these parts of PA.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

1.5 miles in the heat, after work. Really hot and humid, but at least I managed to stop before I got dizzy again. I seem to have more trouble telling myself to stop than telling myself to keep going.   Motivation overload?

QOTD: In general, I like the summer months best, but after this long, hot, humid summer, I might change this to September being my favorite month for running. Less heat, less bugs, less humidity. Now if only the days were a bit longer!

                          Run for fun.

                            Greetings folks,

Been awhile but I do check on you guys every now and then. So my running has kinda sucked over the last 6 months or so, about 22 mpw with a complete lack of push, energy. Ended up sick a couple times so after a couple times with the medical people and a negative lyme test they tested again and their interpretation now is I have it somewhat bad. Maybe. Thing is I have had it 4x in the past and each time I was aware of the exposure, not this time. Further reading though shows that the CDC estimates that 10-20% of those that are treated are not cured. Nice. So maybe I'm being treated for the 5th time or still for my last time. In any event I have an appointment with a Pulmonary specialist next week to see if there is something else going on. I will say after about 10 days on the anti-biotics and there is a huge improvement. I'll be on them thru the rest of Sept.

Did a 4.5 mile run this afternoon thru the hood and despite the heat it went well.

                            QOTD--October by far.

Maybe I should take up some grouse hunting. I kick up quite a few when running and the damn things give me a heart attack every time . The only problem is I hate cleaning them and never was really good at cooking them.

Takes a Grouse reference...  Well since Grouse hunting has been an absolute passion since I was maybe 13 I felt compelled to post.

IMHO the tastiest game bird and the easiest to clean. Daydreamer not sure how you have cleaned them in the past but I'll offer my take. Other game cleaning can be referred to as the mess of success but not Grouse at all.  When you hunt carry a couple zip lock bags and a small scissors. After you bag a couple, I should say when a bird accidently flies into your shot pattern hunt your way over to a pond or stream. Take the scissors and cut each wing off as close to the body as possible. Lay the bird on it's back and grab the skin over the breast and open it up completely exposing the entire plump, white, tender, firm breast. Get your mind back on the bird now.  Poke your thumb under the breast reaching as far up as possible while holding the front with your fingers. Use your other hand to hold the body and give a sharp pull. Voila. That's all. Your not gonna use anything else of the bird. Now you just rinse it off in the stream, put in the baggie and get some more. The only mess is a little blood on your thumb. You can clean grouse at a bird a minute. Pheasants I do roughly the same way though I will also skin out the thigh/legs too. No plucking for me.

Yesterday's QOTD- I guess most know I too am a hunter and own a bunch of guns, all types. Kinda like running shoes when someone will ask how many I have it's always more than I need but not as many as I want.   Also as others have said anybody who has done a fair share of pheasant, quail, or duck hunting has been sprayed. I have a number of times. You can hear the shot pattern ripping thru the brush as you're about to get it.  One reason I hunt most of the time with just my dog.
