The Wednesdaily Spring in February (Read 22 times)

Sandy-2

Supposed to be 82 deg down here today.  With the warm weather and all the rain we've had the last 2 weeks, the flowering trees are starting to bud.

I'm going to run at lunchtime today, gonna be warm.

8 easy last night, 8 hilly planned for tonight.  It was so warm last night, I had to take my jacket off and run in a t-shirt.

QOTD:  Anyone have a favorite knife?  I got this one that I keep in my travel bag (not on flights).  It's a Damascus style blade and I think the handle is elk antler.  Don't remember, but I think made in Wyoming.  Good heft to it and the size is good for field dressing, but I don't think I'll ever use it for anything, unless an emergency.

Otherwise, no I don't have any cool ones, just some well worn work blades.

5 miles last night with the Lady on the trails of Coventry Woods, and 5.5 solo today at lunch on the local trail. Warm out there. About 60. If this keeps up I will be mowing my lawn soon.

QOTD: Sorry, no knife porn here.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

Mighty nice weather here for this time of the year although it is a little too warm.  Temp hit 55-60. Went for a 16.5 mile run on the AT.  For you PA folks it was from the river to past Peters Mtn trail head.   A lot of blow down on part of it. Seems like most of the trees are dead in that area. Makes me a little nervous to run there if there is much of a wind. Seen one other real hiker. Had a decent sized pack with sleeping pads. She was pleasant but didn't seem to want to talk.  Of course by that time I probably looked pretty scary.  Saw two toddery   old folks out strolling along hand in hand. While I'm sure it was still a good bit of love there was also some of "if we hold onto each other we won't fall" going on too.  Nice to see them out there.

Saw a Bobcat. I'm not an expert on them and it was only for a few seconds but I would estimate it was about 25 lbs.  I'm going to tell some of the people at work that I saw a COUGAR .  There are a few of them that are just convinced that the area is overrun with cougars.  If they see a large tom cat it's made out to be a cougar with a 10 foot tail.  I kid you not. Should be able to get some of them worked up .

Overall a good, but slow, run.  Haven't done something that rough since last June.  Actually staggered back to the car.

QOTD:  Nothing as fancy as Bert-O has.  I'm a little light in the knife department. Have a few cheap flip knives. One good Buck knife for hunting and DS got me a  Air Force survival knife for my birthday last year.  So far I've only used it to cut twine.  My favorite one, though, is one that I can't find right now. It is a small, cheap pocket knife that I've probably had since I was 7 of 8 years old. Used to carry that thing everywhere. Including to school .  Remember those days when half the kids carried a pocket knife in school and no one even batted an eye?  Miss those days.

Daydreamer - That's so cool you saw a bobcat.  Such an elusive animal.  And too funny that people could be convinced it's a cougar.  Also, I wish I had saved a couple knives I had as a kid.  Yeah, I remember bringing them into school was no big deal either.  Different times.
