Finally Friday. (Read 25 times)

It was a looong week and friday is finally here.  I ended up doing nothing yesterday so I have 5 flat miles planned for today.  DH and I will get out shortly.  Weather is perfect (windy for him; sunny and cool for me).  We're getting a head start on the weekend.

qotd:  What was your worst vacation experience?   Thinking of an answer, I realized I've been pretty lucky.  The worst so far was last summer with my car not starting in Acadia Nat'l Park.  Although we didn't have cell service, the visitor center had a phone and a helpful volunteer who knew the towing businesses (and taxis) on the island.  In the end, it worked out and I got my car back the next day with a relatively cheap bill.

Volunteered to mark a good part of the course for Ironmaster 50k.  I'll do some tonight and the rest tomorrow.  Then I'll sweep during the race on Sunday.

Good luck to any racers, pacers and volunteers this weekend.

QOTD:  Had a ski trip to Okemo in VT many years ago and they had almost no snow.  Kids were young and we watched a lot of movies.  It was a very expensive way to watch movies.

      “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

Plan is the lunchtime 5.  To stay honest I blew off the last two days event though I posted I was going to run.    We had a cool rain sweep in last night.  I woke up to the sound of rain and wind.  I love storms and we do not get many here.  Woke the husband up but I think I fell right back to sleep.  Wish I would have stepped outside.

QOTD:  We traveled the Baja.  It wasn't really the worst but we were going with another couple separate cars.  In the months leading up to going my husband thoroughly couldn't stand the guy we were going with (I think it was mutual between them).  I tried to get him to cancel and go by ourselves but he didn't want to travel by ourselves.  It didn't help that my husbands mother died a month before we left.  He handles sadness by showing anger.  Needless to say it was a pretty tense "vacation"  with me and my girlfriend trying to keep our spouses from killing each other.  It was a 4 week trip and we finally separated after 3 weeks and a huge blow up.    Loved to do it again because we camped on many awesome beaches.

Nothing today. I'll just do a little hiking over the weekend. I am almost recovered from all the walking, running, and not sleeping from last week's trip. I am actually recovered, but I want to give this weekend one last, hard push to bag another bird, even if someone else is shooting.

QOTD: I have never really had a bad vacation that I can think of.

Spending the day at work again. Ended up not getting in a run yesterday, just too run down by this cold. I did buy a new pair of trail shoes I'm going to try out, Asiscs Gel Scouts. They actually feel pretty nice on pavement. Hopefully I can get back into a running routine tomorrow.

QOTD: 2013 we went to San Antonio TX for DS's graduation from Air Force Basic. On the way back we planned to stop at Branson Missouri for several days. It was a busy summer since I was taking several online classes and had a major assignment due while we would be away. This included video taping a presentation. That didn't go well due to problems with the AV equipment. Then we had vehicle problems at the very last minute before leaving. It was to the point that I was threatening not to even go.  While we were in San Antonio our vehicle's side window was broken and most of our computer gear was stolen. We had to get a new window, which actually went very well. The professor was understanding and allowed me submit the assignment with a new due date of two days after we got home. While in Branson I received word that my one Aunt in Delaware had died. The funeral was to be the day after we returned.  I was exhausted when we left and when we returned I was totally and completely exhausted.

Getting ready for a windy run up and down the hill soon.

QOTD: Two vacation trips stand out in my recollection, both to Tunesia.

First with my ex-husband. I was pregnant then, and suffering terribly from morning sickness. I contracted a kidney infection, which did not make things any better. Fortunately I could get to a doctor, who prescribed antibiotics, and during the 10-day vacation, the infection cleared up. Never got to swim in the ocean or the pool, or visit the nearby town.

Second time when DD was three. Different resort. This time around, it was too cold to swim in the ocean or the pool, and DD contracted a bad skin infection. Fortunately, I could get her to a doctor, who prescribed antibiotics, and during the 10-day vacation, the infection cleared up.

              Deja-vu??

Now I don't like Tunesia for vacations any more.

              Run for fun.

Well I made it to Texas but my dizziness, that was getting better, now came back.  I even went to the doctor, no real help there other than they 'think' it may be sinus pressure clamping my eustachian tubes. I'm taking a antihistamine to see if that helps.

I haven't run if a few days now, getting antsy, but also don't see how I could run with this dizziness.

qotd:  We took a trip out west to visit my parents, kinda called it a 'vacation' but if was more of a 'visit'.  We spent a lot of time sitting around, but the kids wanted to do more 'stuff'.  Turned out not to be too relaxing and we were on each other's nerves after a while.  It got better once we were on our way back home and we managed to salvage it, we even started to make fun of ourselves and the "forced fun" we were having.  We still kind of laugh about it and call it the 'vacation from hell'.
