    Morning folks!

Got in three late last night. Will get in 5+ late tonight.

QOTD: National Parks. How many have you been to? Which is your favorite? (Feel free to substitute a state park if national parks aren't you thing)

I've been to a dozen or so (mainly in Utah and Arizona).

My favorite is a tie between Waterton Lakes National Park (the Canadian side of Glacier NP) and Zion National park.

Waterton lakes stood out because as a kid from the Arizona desert, I'd never seen that color green or natural lakes before. Someday I'll get back there.

Zion is just awe inspiring. Every time I go I see something new. It's the best park in the Grand Circle.

Heading out to some trails not too far from here that I have never done before. I now have a little time to explore since I'll be off work for a bit. The plan will be to run as much as possible but I'll do some walking if the bouncing makes my hand a little too uncomfortable. See a hand specialist on Thursday so maybe I'll know what's happening then.

QOTD- I have a rule-don't do national parks from Memorial day to Labor day. Scary times.  Favorites would be Jasper and Banff in Canada. Olympic sure is cool too.

Morning!  Heading out soon for 5 or 6 miles, then yoga class tonight.

Harrier-- sorry to hear about your hand.  I hope it will not involve surgery.

qotd:  a lot.  Including most of the 'big ten', except Yosemite and Great Smokies.  But I might have an unfair advantage-- a large chunk of my career has been working with parks (national, state and municipal).  Hands down favorite, Isle Royale NP, followed closely by Golden Gate NRA and Yellowstone (especially in winter).  My favorite 'local'-- Cape Henlopen State Park in DE.

I ended up not running yesterday, I guess an URD.  That means I haven't run since Friday.  A nice break.

Actually I had this little niggle in my lower abdomen that hurt a bit over the last week or so whenever I first start running, but then would be ok after a mile or so.  So I kind of planned to take some time off.  Who knows what it is, just a little sore and perhaps from core training, the stair climber, running that road marathon, or perhaps a hernia.... (a running buddy of mine just had one and I hope it isn't contagious) that would suck.  I'm hoping these few days off will make whatever it is go away, but it really is nothing.

          qotd: The Grand Canyon.

Morning Trailers!  Will hit get some strength training in this evening.  Hurt my achilles last night on the treadmill, it's feeling better this morning.  Weather has ruled out any running in the outdoors Sad

qotd: I haven't visited too many, but fortunately we have two of the best that I've spent a lot of time in- Yellowstone and Glacier.  Ran in the Grand Canyon two years ago (fantastic!) and am running Zion this spring.

Good morning all.  It's 7 below right now, and I'm not sure that it is supposed to get above 0 today.  My run after work this evening should be interesting.  My goal is to do 5 miles.

QOTD:  I know I've been to at least 5 national parks, but there may have been more.  I'm not always sure what counts as a national vs. a state park.  My favorite so far has been Glacier, particularly East Glacier for it's rugged and wild sense of isolation.  East Glacier is what motivated my move from San Francisco to Montana.  Although, I also have a soft spot in my heart for Sequoia.

              Ultra Cowboy

Last night I did a recovery type run with the sole purpose of loosening up my calves.  They need some serious work.  I stopped twice to stretch.  About 40 minutes of running.

While many of you are running more per week than I did in January, I'm pretty happy that I logged over 70 miles in January.  That is an increase from 11.8 in December.  By March 1st, I will add another day of running on Thursday  (probably a night trail run).  Then I might break 100 miles in March.

                National parks:

                Point Reyes National Seashore

                Golden Gate National Recreation area

                Muir Woods

                Yosemite

                Lassen Volcanic

                Rocky Mountain

                Grand Teton

I've NEVER been to Yellowstone, Despite going to Western Wyoming every Fall since 2005.  What is WRONG with me?

Been lurking and not running....actually got dress to run in Michigan and just realized I do not have enough warm clothes.  none heading back to CA.

qotd: ALOT....hubby and I traveled the US hitting as many as possible one year.  Hard to pick a favorite....Arches, Monument Valley, Glacier, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Seqouia..... Trail DC can't believe I have never. Been to Island Royale or Picture Rocks....in my back yard!

Hoping to get to the gym tonight. Planning on strength training and speed work. Might get in some time on the rowing machine as well. That thing makes me sore.

QOTD: I've been to a lot of state parks, too many to reliably count. Probably 8-10 US National parks and 3-5 Canadian
national parks. Since they are all different it's hard to pick my favorite. I like the accessibility, bike riding and hiking of the Smoky Mountains, Grand Canyon has great views. The U.S. park that I really want to get back to is Denali. My goal is to ride my bike all the way back the park road, ~100 miles, then catch the bus back out. On the Canadian side I really want to get back up to Jasper. That's a very beautiful area.

                    Endless trails

                      Afternoon, folks.

I got 5 road miles in this morning with my trusty microspikes due to snow/ice. It was cold

                      but sunny.

NH: Hope the hand heals quick, don't forget to keep up with your protein intake.

Sandy: I hear hernias are contagious, let's hope it's just DOMS.

QOTD: I've only been to a few, sad to say, and mostly East Coast. I lived right near Mt. Diablo

in CA, that was a good one. My dream is to move to northern AZ and hit all the cool ones in

                      that area of the country.

jf67: Thanks - I also hope it's DOMS !!!  I think that is what it is and it wouldn't go away as long as I kept running.  It's just an unusual location.  I'll give it a little test run after work today.

NH: I hope you just have a typical broken hand and nothing too exotic.  Heal up soon.

QOTD: I've been to most of the Western National Parks , my favorites are in S. Utah  . State Parks I would have to Sand Harbor , near Incline Village Nevada

QOTD: Fun question! I found the complete listing on Wikipedia. This could be a fun project to try to complete, and it is clear a trip to Alaska is long overdue.

                            This far I've been to

I think I am just going to do some weight lifting today after work. Those Dogfish Head 90 Minute IPA's get heavy, and you don't need many reps. Actually, I am really going to lift weights. I need to work on my lower back and some quad strengthening.

QOTD: I don't know if I have ever visited a NP.

The 7 miles went well last night...a little bit of uptempo running (not reflected in pace due to snowy sidewalks).  Somewhere between 6-8 tonight...5k this weekend so maybe I'll take it easy this week?

QOTD: Boy I feel left out.  I don't think I've ever been to a National Park.  My to do list just got a bit longer.
