A new ultra is currently being run in France: Run the entire course of the Tour de France (1,750 miles) as an ultramarathon in 43 days.

The ultra was run for the first time in 2013, and then it was run over 64 days at 30 miles per day. In 2015, it is supposed to take only 43 days.

The most amazing fact of this race is that Sigrid Eichner, a 75-year-old female German ultramarathon runner, is running it.

Sigrid Eichner has finished over 1,900 marathons and ultramarathons, with Badwater being one of them. She holds the record of the female runner who has finished the most marathons and ultras, and raced the most miles at races in her lifetime. At the Tour-de-France Ultra, she currently is in last place, but pushing through with huge blisters on her feet.

One tough course, and definitely one tough runner as well!

    Run for fun.

I was thinking the same thing.

But, best wishes for Ms. Eichner though.

Some of the roads are cobblestone, so that's kinda like trail running.

I agree, that many pavement miles would kill me mentally.

          “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!
