Perhaps it is a question of drinking the right beer that would enable you to run like a Kenyan. You probably just need to try more varieties of beer.

I'd say if I run because I know I'm going to enjoy a beer after, the good of the run is not undone by the post run beer.
I'd say doing a dozen Jager shots might be counter productive though...
