White Wednesday (Read 31 times)

I will take a rest day today.  Last night I got to the gym ran 2.75 on the TM, 1000+ steps on the stair machine, and followed up with a leg workout.  I am feeling pretty good.

QOTD: What's your favorite piece of clothing that you own? Either running or otherwise...

Fairly simple for me is my white hat I got from my first ultra (BluesCruise 50k in 2011).  The fact that it is from my first ultra means little.  I just really like the hat although there is nothing special about it.  It's become my Linus blanket so to speak.

    Have a great day!

My favorite day of the week is RUNday

About 7 miles on the trails of the HayCreek/Birdsboro watershed. Wet and humid but the rain and storms had passed. They finally cleared a path through the NW corner of the tract where they had done some massive logging earlier this spring. It's nothing more than a dirt road for the most part, and yesterday based on all the rain it was more like a mud road. It was very strange running through there. I did not recognize the area at all, but once in awhile I would see a tree along the muddy road with a smiley face on it. The trail here in the past had all kinds of weird cryptic markings but someone had blazed a section with smiley faces. I wonder if all the smiley faces survived? I only saw a few but I did not follow the dirt road in it's entirety. I cut off on the first single track I found.

I think a rest day or road run at lunch. I am taking the afternoon off to hit the links.

QOTD: Any of my Ohio State Buckeye shirts, particularly the one I am wearing now with the Buckeye leafs for each of their football national championships. There are 8 of them... 5 of them in my lifetime, but really I have no memories of the one in 61'.

In dog beers, I've only had one.

As soon as the grass dries I'll head out a mow the lawn for the first time in three weeks. Got just enough rain that it needs it. After that a nice easy 25-30 mile bike ride then start packing for Call of The Wilds.  I'm wearing my new Speedgoats around the house for a little break in. They are narrower than any other Hoka I've tried on. They also seem to have a very pronounced rocker in the forefoot.  We rented a cabin for two nights so we'll head up tomorrow morning.

I looked at the list of runners for the Eastern States and see that Michael Wardian is signed up. Ultra signup has him finishing second. I expect that he will finish in the top 10-15, but I don't think he'll really challenge for the win. He seems like a speedy guy, but most of his longer races are not extremely technical. It's nice though to see one of the bigger names in racing coming to Pa.

QOTD: I don't have a single favorite one. I had a old work shirt that expired on me earlier this year. Really loved that thing for some reason. I think it was because it had grease stains and paint splattered on it from all my DIY projects.  A few months ago I lost my Blues Cruise hat on a long run. I had stuck it on the back of my pack and I assume that as the bladder emptied the cord came loose and the hat fell off. Needless to say I was upset but couldn't backtrack 21 miles. I got a new one that just wasn't as nice. Two weeks later on the same trails I found it laying along a tree. It was pretty obvious that someone had put it there so it would be noticed.  I'll probably wear a visor this weekend, but the Blues Cruise hat is going along.

Still not feeling the best, so no run today.

Dd1 - good luck at the race and packing up. Cabin sounds like fun.

QOTD:  A blue Old Navy t-shirt from July 4, 2001 with a big American flag on it. It was my Dad's and he was killed in a car crash just before the 1st anniversary of 9/11.  I wear it every 4th of July and every 9/11.

          “Paralysis-to-50k” training plan is underway!

Will run after work...the husband has a cold so was hacking from 3 to 6 AM...so when the alarm went off I hit off.  I also set the clock ahead 10 minutes to get me out of bed.  It back fired because I forgot and thought I didn't have enough time to get a run in ..when I did.  When I got out of the shower my dog Jack was laying there with my running shoe in front of him...hint..hint MOm...    Gym at lunch.

Was thinking of signing up for Ultra Race of the Champions 100K at the end of September until I saw the price $260!!!!   uuhh no!

QOTD:  I have two sweaters same style in green and gray...same sweater.  It's a mock turtle neck and the sleeves are long with the thumb hole in them.  I wear them all the time...they are my bathrobe, my walking sweater, my camp sweater...just love these.  But they are starting to look sad.

qotd: my Patagonia Houdini windshirt; I wear this year round- sheds light precip, blocks wind, bugs can't bite through it, breathes great and weighs all of 4 oz. It's going on four years now, an occasional wash and refresh w/ DWR and it's good to go

Hoping for 7 after work today .... would be my longest run since April.

QOTD: Hard to say .... One of my white linen shirts I got at a trunk sale or the Lake Sonoma sweatshirt I can't find right now

Thinking about running Ashevile 1/2.  This is the old course that they changed several years ago.

                    It is a tough course.

I ran 4 before first light.

QOTD: I don't know if I can pick one. I have so many favorite things from t-shirts to tech shirts to sweaters to hoodies. I have a Brooks long sleeved tech shirt from the 2008 Baton Rouge Beach Half Marathon that I bought for 5 bucks at the 2009 expo that is one of my all-time favorites. It is an awesome shirt for running or just kicking around the house in. It is comfortable; it is loose fitting; I need to hit that expo again and see if they have any cool stuff this year. That is a pretty fun run for a road race, pretty close the house, usually cool weather, laid back atmosphere, good food, unbelievable amounts of food and beer.

                      Faster Than Your Couch!

I was awake for much of the night, thanks to some extra caffein late in the afternoon. So when my alarm went off, I decided to rather give myself some more beauty sleep instead of running 6 miles. Hope it'll work!

Maybe some miles in the evening.

DD1: if you are renting in Little Pine State Park, be prepared for the cabins to be fairly small. Fun though.

                        Good luck for the race!

QOTD: a gray hoodie that I bought for my first winter here in PA, for $5 at Walmart. I did not want to spend more because I never intended to stay in America beyond late October. That was in 2002.

It said "stain resistant" on the label, which proved to be true, through 13 years of heavy abuse and 3 children. It had ended up in the trash several times, but every time I pulled it out again, as on second thought, it was still good enough for some rough job "around the house". Needless to say, I am still wearing it in public on occasion.

When my middle DS was getting his first bike, he kneaded the sleeve through the bike chain and gears, but I managed to save it once more. So other than a few holes, it still looks like new.

                        It's my DH's worst nightmare...

                        Run for fun.

Hi all!  Just dropping on from Wyoming.  Ran on Monday am. 4 miles around devil's tower, haven't run since but got in s nice 5 mile hike today with the kiddos.  Don't know what tomorrow will bring.

qotd:  nothing special comes to mind.   Maybe my smartwool socks?
