mayday run (Read 275 times)

Cider IS carb loading

Chaps I have entered the 3FM on may day. It will be a slow run for me and a tentative one. I feel that I have got back some confidence after the 4XVLM Immune challenge. If you fancy a trot out with me (jezza - a taper before the GUCR, Immune - a recovery run!) then I will join you for a customary cider at the finish line.

Rob, I was really tempted to do this but it is my much treasured cycle down week and want time with the family....sorry I hope you all the best and keep that leg safe.

Not sure I can swing a Marathon so soon after my VLM run, my wife's radar is on full alert at the moment to ensure I am well rested

and my feet are ok before I start running again. Oh, and the small matter of all of the jobs around the house that need doing asap.

I think South Downs might be the next Mara, but Ranleagh Half Mara next month is on the cards I think, not that I have told Mrs immune

yet, but it is only in Richmond and should be less than 1:30 worth of running (hopefully).

Either way Rob, do take it very easy, I am still amazed at the speed of your recovery, and the last thing we want to see is any sort of

issue because you have tried to go a little too far too soon.

Must arrange to come and get my stuff from you Rob. Could you send me your address again.

Jezza - Do you have my address details, or do you need me to come and get my few bits from you?

Jezza - That would be great. When we meet up for a post VLM x 4 drink I will re-imburse you for postage etc.

Just realised it's not long until GUCR, with your 100k+ track and 52.4mile run within the space of 2 weeks you

must be feeling fairly confident that your prep has gone well as you looked in fine fettle when you left me on Sunday

            morning.

Funny how about 18months ago I would never of thought a 100miles would be possible for me, and now look

at us. I only know of one or two races longer than GUCR so you and George may well have the record for longest run

for a very long time once GUCR is done, right, where is my entry for Thames Ring and Spartathlon Big grin

George and I went for a 50km trail run on Friday! As you say, no way would we have even thought of doing that 5 days after a 50+ mile run and the "Ultra-Snob" part of me comes out when I see people talking about doing recovery runs after 10 days from a marathon.....but then we were all like that 12-18 months ago.

Even though I did 50km on Friday, I just did 11 miles XCR on Sunday and it is only today that I feel a little tight in the upper thigh but I was packing a 6Ib pack throughout.

As for going beyond GUCR distance we will have to see but I think Mrs S will definitely have something to say if I  do multi-stage and is just about OK with overnight runs her famous stock phrase is "Well you are going to do it anyway so why ask?" Big grin

I have one more challenge that I definitely want to do this year but I will see how I am mentally after GUCR
