It is the most god forsaken town in existance. Why, may I ask, is this our capital? We could have at least chosen somewhere that has something to offer.... other than steep hills and law offices. How about Missoula? Or Bozeman? Or even Billings... heck, I'm not picky...

I think the reason is some horrible 1800's guy with too much money. Something to do with a bunch of copper, also. Throw in two other copper kings and some horrible place like helena ends up as state capital. great, isn't it?

Well, it came down to either Helena or Butte. I don't know. I think they may have made the right decision. Bill

Really? I think Anaconda was in there too, courtesy of Marcus Daly. But good ol' Willy Clark was far too accomplished at legislative bribery. Personally, I would have gone for a shared capitol between Hysham and Ingomar. Wink
