For the first time since January, I did a pseudo long run on Saturday, followed by a 6.8 mile race on Sunday and my rear end held up pretty good. I lost much of my cardio fitness and got "girled" by my running friend's 16 year old daughter near the finish line, but I'm happy that I didn't have any pain. Yay! Didn't want to put it in the main forums because they wouldn't understand what we go through in here. How's everyone doing?
Eric, that is GREAT news! glad to hear it! I think my foot is almost all better. I've been running more and hurting less, so whatever silly thing was triggering pain signals from that area must be retreating. I haven't ridden my bike since August though and that's when I started to feel better, so now I'm a little afraid to ride it. I've gone to spinning a few times and ridden a mountain bike and so far so good, so one of these days I'll have to re-inflate my road bike tires, clip into the pedals and try out a short ride.

Eric - awesome news indeed! Sounds like you might be healed? And getting "girled" at the finish after everything you've been through - not a big deal! Wink The cardio fitness shall return ...

Good job! Doesn't it feel GREAT to be out there! I know the first few runs back I was barely running but it was still FASTER then walking and my ankle was not in intense pain! So yes I/we understand! Congrats! I'm back to running and my ankle is still holding up. It is always stiff and sore but not painful! I still don't have back my cardio fitness and disappointed about it, but I'm still out there! This too shall pass! I'm thinking of signing up for a 5K at the first of Dec. so we'll see..... Again! Glad to see back on the road!

Thank you ladies for all your support, especially you, Runnergabe! Thanks for understanding and providing constant encouragement. For a while, I was so bummed that it may end my running career. I'm getting a little better every day. It will never go away, but at least I'm out running again. Getting girled never felt so sweet Big grin Shaunna: Don't you hate that thought that lingers in the back of your mind. The constant "what if" that pops up when you get on a bike is terrifying! Does this mean no one has figured out what's wrong?

Yeah, it's terrifying! Every little pain now I'm afraid something new is wrong! Just the other day I started getting a pain in the 1st metarsal on the left foot- not during running, but at other times. I'm hoping it's just the shoes tied too tight or something, I really don't want to take any time off right now! They never figured out exactly what was wrong with the right foot- I saw the leading foot specialist in S. FL and even he was at a loss. Nothing looked wrong on an MRI or xray so their best guess was chronic nerve damage or tendonitis. Frusterating that I lost so much time for that, but I am really happy to be fully back now, and I'm glad that you're back too, even if you are getting girled Smile
