Just stumbled across this forum and it looks like it will be very helpful.

I am 32 years old I have  been a type 1 diabetic for about 10 year.  I have been on the pump for about 4.  I have always lifted weight and I am in pretty good shape.  I just started running this year and I am doing my first half marathon in two weeks.

I have had a lot of trouble keeping my sugar up during runs.  It usually gets low about 3 miles in and I have to try to suck down some of those cake icing gel things.  It is not too bad as long as I catch it before it gets below 70.

Well that is all I have, I will start searching the forums for useful info.

        Hi, Primetime,

Do you do anything with your pump to prevent the lows? I usually turn my basal rate down about an hour before starting a run.

Joe's right, of course, about carrying something to bring your blood sugar up.

        Welcome!
