Spring HMs? (Read 382 times)

Hi All! This is my first post here at RA. Anyways I figured this group would be a good place to start. I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on a good spring half marathon, preferably around April? I live in Delaware but am pretty much willing to travel anywhere for a good race! Thanks!

Lehigh Valley HM - Allentown, PA - April 27. I am running it. I've run it several times and it's a nice course. There is no race day packet pickup. You have to pick up your packet at the expo on Saturday. http://www.lehighvalleyhalfmarathon.com/ NJ Marathon - Long Branch, NJ - May 4. They have a half marathon. I don't know much about this one. http://www.njmarathon.org/races.htm Edited to add: The LV Half sold out in January last year, so act fast if you want to run that one.

      Not at it at all.

If ya'll are doing the NJ one - there is already a good sized group of 6+ folks from RA doing the half and full. Keep your eyes open on the main boards - not sure if they have a group set up or are just planning a meet up before the race.

When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you’ve done?

Does March count as spring? If so I am doing the Caesar Rodney Half (in good ole Wilmington, DE) on March 9th.

This is my first post, too. I'm running my first HM in Frederick, Maryland on May 4th. I know it's not April but maybe it's early enough in May for you. Good luck with your training!

Good luck to you, too, Pitrunner! What training plan are you following?

I'm following a modified version of Hal Higdon's beginner plan. The beginner program starts out with a long run of 4 miles but my longest run so far has been 8. I'm going to stick to the plan during the week but begin at a higher long run. My biggest concern is not getting injured before the race! How about you?

New to the group but have run a few HMs. If you are willing to travel a little west - Louisville HM is in early May and a great run. Great scenery, usually ideal weather and well supported the couple of times I ran it. Right now that would be a 15 or 16 week plan if you are looking. Indianapolis Mini (which I am running this year) is alse very neat but very crowded - 30+K participants. I live there so it is a local thing. Good luck.
