Can I pull off a sub 2:00? (Read 25 times)

    Hi All,

I'm hoping to run a sub 2:00 Half next year on April 29. Thats about 21 weeks out.

I've done 13 halfs over the last 7 years with a PR of 2:07 five years ago. Since then I'm around 2:20 to 2:30 with limited training and no speedwork. My average running week is 0-20 miles, depending on what else is going on in life.

Can I pull it off? If I up my mileage slowly and start weekly or bi-weekly speedwork now?

The April race is flat, and on my "home turf", on a trail I run all the time.

I feel like 2018 is my year. Ya think??

I think with increasing your base and keeping it a bit more consistent, you can definitely give the sub 2 a run for its money. I can add this too, as you get older, the PR’s are harder to come by. That’s the way it is for me. Getting in some speed work and longish tempo runs are a key to getting there.
