an amazing likeness
Eric has recently built some new features into the Reports of the Groups here on RunningAhead. Using the new Races option, I pulled a report of all races logged by members of our Half Marathon Trainers group in 2015...some random observations:
Race distance distribution...for a bunch of half marathon lovers, we sure run a lot of 5Ks:
Calendar month distribution of all races logged -- this one usually surprises me when I compile stats...in my area, races are concentrated in a few months -- May / June, then Aug/Sept/Oct -- but the group's races don't have those peaks:
Calendar month distribution from our Half Marathons has a bit more of peak months than the overall races distribution; here we see the expected spring & fall clustering:
There are some serious speed merchants out there running Half Marathons. Here's the best times logged by the top 5 runners in terms of time. Some of the folks had many fast times logged, this the fastest time from each of the top 5 runners (not top 5 fastest half marathon times, which would be only the 1st two runners listed)
3. Median Half Marathon time of the 89 logged in 2015 = 2:00:28. This is faster than the reported average times I can find for 2014 of 2:02:55 for men / 2:21:22 for women.
4. There were just a few half marathons where more than 1 person from the group ran same race / same day...of course this depends on the name folks used when logging the race...so lots of windage here:
Beat the Blerch HMCovered Bridges Half Marathon
5. Race name of the year award goes to....Shades of Death Half Marathon.
Acceptable at a dance, invaluable in a shipwreck.
Okay, that's pretty cool. Thanks MT
First or last...it's the same finish line
